I agree! I think he had gotten used to her. In this week, he had no distractions, so he finally got to know her. And he became protective of her...not really realizing that when they go back home, this isn't reality and he has a GF and they're not supposed to be this married couple that stays together for life. I think he got caught in the moment and therefore, this hug.
