Savory Pearls
Appa froze in shock when he saw R&B walk up with them, he stumbled as he got up
Stubbing his toe on the coffee table, Athai grabbed his arm
"Please come in" Appa invited his SIL
"Thanks Mr Iyer" R&B said
II squirmed wondering which Chithappa caught that
"Vidu dee enna' (leave me alone) Appa said gruffly
Appa's brothers gawked at R&B
He held Nivi in his cupped hands, she sat on it like it was a chair, chewing on a toy he had handed her
Well II had brought the toy with her when she went down to watch the corn guy
Nivi was teething her clothes were always SOAKED
She shook her legs frantically when the toy connected with her swollen gums and squealed, as the toy massaged the tender skin
Amma smiled
R&B nodded
One chithappa got up, embarrassed, both chithis peeked from the corridor
Akka placed the corn on the cob on a few plates "Amma noku venuma?" she spoke louldy breaking the silence
(Do u wnat any?)
"Dont give her" Amma warned
"Yennammma" II cried
"Tumhe doon?" Akka asked R&B
He chuckled and shook his head
Cheenu chithapa said loudly "TAMIZH VARAADO?" (He cannot speak Tamil it looks like)
"You came for the WEDDING chithappa" Akka said sternly
Appa went to the balcony Amma and Athai followed him
R&B wandered the living room
Chithis boldly stepped out of the shadows and sat by their husbands to gawk
Shravu came shouting
"UNCLE RRR?" she yelled
"Hey bud!" R&B whispered, hoisting him, as he held his daughter
"Mera ek aur bhi hai, usko bhi kabhi utha le?" Akka giggled
He laughed back
Chithi whispered something to Cheenu Chithappa, Venu Chithappa caught it and said loudly
"Outside food not allowed" he said loudly
Shravu started throwing a tantrum
"Chithappa PLEASE" akka ordered
Handed one to Shravu and started eating one surely and firmly
Chithi hesitantly reached for one
II grabbed one and RAN to her room before Amma could see it
Her husband followed with teh baby, II leaned on the window and watched the drizzle
"Ammaku minaale tinna konnuduva" (Amma will kill me) she said to the window)
Nivi shook her feet, II turned and found R&B
II ate quietly, his turn to gawk
She stuffed her face, by taking BIG BITES
Nivi looked at her greedily and moaned "Give me too Amma" "Give me too"
Making more drool
"Rakshasi!!" Ii whispered, garbled, I FED U an hour ago, u can get the extract of corn in ur next feed" she sighed and moaned savoring
A clump of juicy pearls fell on her cleft, she wore a salwar and skinny tee
Chucking the dupatta much to her Amma's chagrin
"Veedu poora purusha, DUPATTA podu dee" (there are men everywhere) Amma scolded
"THEY ARE as old as Periappa" Ii had scoffed
He took a step forward and bend
II shrieked a muffled warning, as she chewed
He bend down and opened his mouth on the spice lemon drenched seeds, grabbing it with his tongue, sucking and staying there on her mole trip
II held a clump of his hair and yanked his head
Nivi was closer to the corn she held Nivi opened her mouth on the corn and shuddered... and shook and spazzed at the lemony flavor
"PAAVI" II cursed
He stood an inch away, bending down to snake his tongue tip out and lick one off her cheek
Nivi began to cry LOUDLY when the spice hit her
Akka came running
"Oh um... I mean" she squirmed "Sorry" she said
"U are fine Vandita" he said
"TUM dono "busy" the?" Akka said coyly
"Chheee" II scoffed at her sister
"Yennadi chheee?" "YOU were feeding him corn" from your mouth"Akka roared
"NO I WAS NOT" II said hotly
"She wouldnt!!" he said with a really tragic expression, rocking his daughter, gently wiping her tears as she moaned, he picked up a bottle and gently held it by her lips
II was cheating the doc had recommended not giving Nivi any water, but Ii was sure "Baby was going to be thirsty"
Nivi sucked noisily, when she realized it wasnt her milk factory she moved her face in frustration but the heat was gone
