CHAPTER 14. BEFORE THE CLIMAX!
"Khushi! Kuch toh bol! Jab se aayi hai bas sharmaayi jaa rahi hai!", Geet huffed as she looked at a blushing Khushi. Today it was Sunday so Khushi had come to visit Geet and now sitting in Geet's room all Khushi did was blush.
"Uff bewakoof! Kuch toh bol!", Geet spat annoyed. Ae le! Idhar main apni pareshaani ka hal nahi nikaal paa rahi aur yeh hai ki sharmaane ke siva kuch kar hi nahi rahi hai!
"Humein sharam aa rahi hai!", Khushi whispered and Geet rolled her eyes, "Woh toh dikh raha hai!"
"Dekh! Agar tujhe idhar baithke sharmaana haina toh sharmaate baith! Main chali!", saying this Geet turned to walk out of the door when Khushi spoke up.
"Humein pyaar hogaya hai!"
Geet turned around and looked at Khushi with wide eyes, "Kya? Sachchi?" Geet jumped onto the bed and grabbed Khushi by her shoulders. Khushi shyly nodded and Geet let out a squeal.
"Haayo rabba! Ek aur kudi shaheed pyaar ke naam pe! Oye hoye! Kitni sharmaa rahi hai! Uski yaad aa rahi hai?", Geet spoke up teasingly.
"Chidhaao mat!", Khushi whined.
Geet shook her head, "Na! Main nai chodna yeh chance! Yaad hai kuch mahino pehle tu ne mujhe Prince Charming ke naam se kitna chidhaaya tha! Aaj mujhe mauka mila hai bachchu! Tujhe toh main chodungi nahi!"
Khushi pouted while Geet giggled, "Waise yeh toh bata ki yeh munda kaun hai jo tera dil chura gaya!"
Khushi mumbled something and Geet frowned, "Kya? Kya kahaa zara zor se bol!"
"Arnavji!", Khushi spoke and Geet's eyes widened, "Oh ho! Mr. Ajeeb! Tujhe toh woh bilkul pasand nahi tha na?"
Khushi shyly shrugged, "Abhi pasand aagaye!"
"Oye hoye! Rishta dekha jaa raha tha Maan aur mera, final hua Maan ke dost aur mere best friend ka!", Geet giggled.
"Tum mujhse naaraaz nahi ho na?", Khushi asked her best friend.
"Ae le! Tujhe pyaar hua toh main kyun naaraaz houn?", Geet was confused.
"Kyunki main jinse pyaar karti hun, unke dost ne tumhaara dil toda hai!", Khushi looked sad.
Geet huffed, "Oye! Tu bakwaas band kar! Aise faltu reason ke liye main kyun naaraaz hone lagi? Aur waise bhi Maan ne mera dil toda iske liye main unhein blame nahi karti!"
Geet blew out a breath, "Unki galti nahi hai ki woh mujhse pyaar nahi karte! Pyaar karwaaya nahi jaata, ho jaata hai! Mujhe hua, unhein nahi! Sab kismat ka khel hai! Main kisiko iss baat ka doshi nahi maanti!"
Khushi nodded and both remained silent for a while. But Geet could not remain silent any more. Why should both be sad over her broken heart? Infact, Khushi should be happy for falling in love and Geet should be happy for her best friend. Geet threw off the gloomy feeling that settled on her and focused on her best friend, "Achcha yeh bata! Tere unko toh tu ne bataaya na ki tu unko love karti hai? Arnav ne kya kahaa?"
Khushi looked down and mumbled out something.
"Kya? Khushi! Yeh mumbling karna band kar aur zor se bol!", Geet was annoyed.
"Maine unse ab tak kahaa nahi!", Khushi spoke up and Geet's eyes widened.
"Kya? Abhi tak kuch kahaa nahi! Hey Babaji! Kya ladki hai yeh! Ab tak confess nahi kiya! Kya koi mahurat ka wait kar rahi ho?", Geet glared at her best friend.
Khushi pouted, "Arre! Kal hi toh humein ehsaas hua hai iss pyaar ka! Seedha tumhaare paas chale tumhein bataane! Aur tum ho ki humein daantne pe lagi padi ho! Jaao hum tum baat nahi karte!"
Geet winced, "Sorry! Mujhe maaf kardo!"
Khushi continued to pout, "Ek shart pe!"
"Kya?"
"Tum humaari madat karogi!", Khushi frowned and Geet nodded. Madat? For what?
"Theek hai! Main madat karungi! Par kaisi madat?", Geet asked.
"Humein samajh nahi aa raha! Hum ab kya karein?", Khushi mumbled out as she fiddled with her duppatta.
"Kya karein matlab kya?", Geet was baffled.
"Matlab ab jab pyaar hogaya hai toh humein kya karna chaahiye?", Khushi spoke worriedly.
"Hey Babaji! Pyaar hone ke baad kya karte hain? Jaake pyaar ka izhaar karte hain, aur kya?", Geet was beyond confused now. Why was Khushi asking so weird questions?
"Lekin humein darr lag raha hai!", Khushi whispered.
Geet shook her head, "Of course tujhe darr lag raha hai! Pyaar ka izhaar karne ke liye himmat chaahiye hoti hai! Par tu woh sab mat soch! Tu toh meri best friend hai! Bindaas ja aur kehde uss ASR ko tere dil ka haal!"
Khushi shook her head vigorously, "Nahi! Humein bahut darr lag raha hai! Unhonein humpe ghussa kiya toh?" She blinked as she remembered his anger. "Na baba! Unka ghussa humse jhela nahi jaata! Aankh se aansu aate hain!"
Geet slapped her forehead, "Arre bewakoof! Agar unhein tujhse pyaar hoga toh woh kyun naaraaz honge?"
"Wahi baat ka toh darr hai!", Khushi started to sob suddenly alarming Geet, "Agar unhonein humaara dil toda toh? Unhein agar humse pyaar nahi toh?"
Geet smiled sadly, "Khushi! Main tera darr samajhti hun! Tu bhool gayi kya, kuch din pehle main bhi isi dard se guzri thi! Main tujhe jhoota dilaasa nahi dungi Khushi ki sab theek hojaayega! Bahut dard hota jab hum jisse pyaar karte hain woh humaara dil tode toh! Lekin aisa thodi na bataaye baghair re jaayein!"
"Nahi!", Khushi cut her off as she wiped her eyes, "Kuch bhi ho jaaye hum Arnavji ko apne dil ki baat nahi bataayenge!"
Geet sat down and grabbed Khushi's hand, "Mujhe pata nahi ki woh tujhse pyaar karte hain ki nahi! Lekin Khushi agar tu unse baat nahi karegi, toh zindagi bhar bas sochti reh jaayegi ki woh tujhse pyaar karte hain ki nahi! Lekin agar tu unhein bataayegi aur unhonein tujhe reject bhi kiya, toh atleast tu apne zindagi mein aage badh paayegi! Tu unhein bhool paayegi! Lekin agar dil ki baat nahi bataayi, aur woh tujhe pasand karte ho, toh tere haath se chance jaayega! Dekh Khushi, teri bhalaayi isi mein hai ki tu Arnav ko jaake bataate! Kyunki adhura pyaar se aage badne ke liye bhi pyaar ka izhaar karna zaroori hai!"
As Khushi thought about what Geet said, Geet was filled with sudden clarity. Isliye main bhi aage nahi badh paa rahi hun! Kyunki maine toh unse pyaar ka izhaar hi nahi kiya! Maan ne bhale hi mujhe reject kiya ho par kabhi mere mooh pe nahi! Isliye main ummeed lagaaye hue hun! Mujhe unko apne dil ki baat bataani hogi aur phir jab woh mujhe reject karenge tab main aage badh paaungi! Mujhe kal hi jaake Maan se baat karni padegi! Apne pyaar ka izhaar karna hoga aur unka inkaar sehna hoga! Toh hi main aage badh paaungi! Geet nodded and made her decision. She was confessing her feelings to Maan next day.
While Geet was planning to confess, Khushi was planning to do similar. But she was planning to do it the same evening. After talking few minutes more to Geet, Khushi hugged her best friend and walked out. As she turned to catch Rickshaw to Arnav's house, she remembered two things. First was she had no excuse to meet him and second she did not have his address. Hey Devi Maiyya! Lagta hai kal hi jaana padega! Then she shook her head. Nahi! Kal tak hum nahi ruk sakte! Jitne jald se jald hum unse baat karein utna humaare liye achcha hai! As Khushi wondered what to do next, a perfect plan came to her head. Yes! Yeh perfect idea hai! Khushi scrambled off to execute her plan.
While Khushi decided to confess her feelings, she did not know that Arnav had decided on the same.
"I don't know when I fell in love with you, but I do love you. Do you love me Khushi?", Arnav looked nervously. And then he shook his head. What kind on proposal is that? Arnav! Love has turned you dumb!
"I should be more expressive right?", Arnav asked the audience in front of him. Lakshmi, the goat, who was just passing by, was shocked to see the always angered human being talking to his plants. Meeehh! These human beings are so weird! Talking to his plants! Meeehhh!
Arnav paced around as he wondered how to confess his feelings to Khushi. For last few days, he had a feeling that Khushi might like him too. And Arnav decided once and for all, he would bare his feelings to her and get it done with.
Arnav took in a deep breath and opened his mouth to try out another way of proposing.
Anjali entered Arnav's room and did a double take. Yeh Chote kisse baat kar rahe hain? Ghar par toh koi nahi hai humaare aur Chote ke siva! Aur naukar log toh sab neeche hain! She was standing in Arnav's room looking towards the poolside where Arnav was standing near the pool and talking to someone. Looking from the room, she could only see Arnav facing someone and talking to them, but who he was talking to she could not see because the wall hid that person. She took a few steps towards the wardrobe which was on the other side of the room and was surprised that Arnav had yet to notice her. As she walked to the other side of the room she finally noticed that Arnav was talking to his plants. Yeh Chote bhi na! Pad paudhon se koi baat karta hai kya! She shook her head. She thought of listening to his words and even took few steps ahead but then stopped. Nahi! Humein aise Chote ki life mein interfere nahi kar sakte! If only Anjali knew what conversation Arnav was actually having! She would have killed to be in the listening range!
As Anjali walked out her phone rang. It was Khushi, the girl she met in the Mandir.
"Hello Khushiji! Boliye! Kaise yaad kiya?"
Khushi grinned as she cut the call. She was really smart, she concluded and mentally congratulated herself. Her plan was perfect. At first she did not know what excuse to use to go to Arnav's house but then she remembered that Arnav loved plants. So she grinned. She will take a new plant for him. Yes! Perfect excuse! Par hum paudha kyun leke jaa rahe hain? Khushi frowned and then her face cleared. Arre haan! Hoshiarpur mein humaari jaan bachaane ke liye humaari taraf se thank you! Ab doosra problem! Humein Arnavji ka ghar ka pata toh pata nahi! Then she remembered. Arnav had described his house and lane to her in Hoshiarpur. She grinned. It was decided. She was going to go to Arnav's house with the excuse to thank him with a plant. But then she frowned. Lekin woh ghar par nahi hue toh? Anjaliji! Hum unhein call karenge! Aur address bhi confirm kardenge!
And now Khushi had finished the call, she grinned excitedly. Arnavji! Hum aa rahe hain apne pyaar ka izhaar karne!
Meanwhile Anjali grinned. Waah! Chote ne Khushiji ko ghar pata hi nahi, apni favorite hobby bhi bata di! Kahin Chote ko bhi Khushiji pasand toh nahi! Agar aisi baat hai toh humein aisa kuch karna hoga ki dono ko akele mein baat karne ka mauka mile! Par kya? Then she remembered. Bhajiye! She ran to the kitchen, cut some vegetables, mixed in some spices, added the flour and waited for Khushi to arrive.
