Second Shot (Flashback continued)
As time passed everyone got busy with their own life. Though Raghav and Kalpana were busy with their studying but they couldn't remove each other's thoughts from their mind. After that incident Kalpana became the opposite of the old kalpana. She stopped fighting with Prem. With this changed behavior, Prem started liking Kalpana. They became good friends now. Though they became good friends but Kalpana would miss her best friend Ragahv badly.
It was Kalpana and Prem's school function. Vikram, Gauri, Vittal, Kamla, Gayetri went there as their kids were going to do a play today. Finally Kalpana and Prem came on the stage. Kalpana was playing as Sita and Prem as Ram(Kalpana 10, Prem 15). Both family members were watching them amused as they were doing a good job. While watching the play, both Vikram and Vittal said to each other that Kalpana and Prem were looking good with each other. After the play when Prem and Kalpana were coming out from the stage, Prem said, "Kalpana you played this role very well." Kalpana said the same to Prem as he did very good job too. He was looking at her amused as he never saw Kalpana in saree and she was looking so beautiful. "You are looking so beautiful in saree," Hearing Prem, Kalpana smiled and said "Thank you." After that play, Prem had some feeling grow for Kalpana in his heart. He found her so beautiful; she was not annoying anymore but very understanding.
When both families reached the Mansion, Vikram and Vittal told their wives that they had decided something. When Gauri and Kamla asked they said that that had decided that when Kalpana and Prem will grow up they will get them married. Hearing the news Gauri and Kamla were happy but there was one person who was not happy with this news.
Gayetry: Vikram, why don't you think Kalpana for Raghav?
Vikram: Mammi, Ragahv is too old for Kalpana.
Gauri: I agree with you Vikram. Prem is perfect for Kalpana.
Gayetry: Vikram, your dad was 12 years older than me. Our age difference never came in between our love. You already know that how much we would love each other.
Vikram: Mammi, there are far differences in both generations. In this generation age difference affects badly.
Kamla looked at Gayetry's sad face. She could sense how much Gayetry hurt. She was the one who witnessed her that Gayetry chose Kalpana for Ragahv when Kalpana was born.
Though Gayetry was hurt but she couldn't say further as both parents already decided Kalpana and Prem's marriage.
When both parents were discussing about their kids marriage, Prem was passing from there and he heard them. He was in cloud nine. He still couldn't believe that Kalpana will be his fianc. Kalpana also got to know about it from Prem. Since then Kalpana made up her mind for Prem as their parents decided, but her heart yearned for someone else but she didn't know for whom.
One day both parents decided to visit some Mandir far from the city. They left Kalpana and Prem with Gayetry and left from there.
After one hour, Gayetry got a phone call that they met with an accident and they were in the hospital now. Gayetry went to the hospital. It was the most shocking thing in her life when the doctor said, "Sorry we couldn't save any of them." Gayetry was all broken.
Hearing the news Ragahv came from USA. It was very hard for him to see his family members all broken. He felt bad thinking about Kalpana's innocent face how she was crying in dadi's arms. He felt bad thinking Kalpana lost her parents at this age. He couldn't see them all broken anymore. Somehow he managed himself thinking about his family members. He needed to be strong. He was the one who needed to take care of them as a guardian. Kalpana didn't have any close relatives from her parent's side. Now this Singhania family became her everything.
Two days later Ragahv went to Singhania constrictions. The biggest shock in his life was when Ragahv got to know that few days ago his father transferred all his business, properties, mills, bank accounts to his office staff Mr. Ramesh. They had nothing left now. Now it was very clear for him that their parent's deaths were not due to any accident. It was all planned. Without wasting a second he filed a case against Mr. Ramesh.
After few days Mr. Ramesh came to meet Raghav at the Mansion. They were face to face now.
Mr. Ramesh: Ragahv whatever you are doing is nothing but just waste of time. You won't be able to catch me as I didn't do anything leaving any proof.
Ragahv: You don't need to worry about it. Just leave it on me.
Mr. Ramesh: You wanted to throw me on the street firing me from the job. See what I did. I put you all on the street.
Looking at the Mansion Mr. Ramesh said, "Yeh Mansion bhi nilam ho jayega, then you all will be on the street soon. Saying so he gave a mischievous smile.
Ragahv: My dad was so kind that's why he didn't throw you out. But I am not as kind as my dad and I know how to protect and get back what is already mine.
Mr. Ramesh: Lets see how and for how long you will be able to run this case.
Saying so Mr. Ramesh left from there leaving Ragahv clentching his fists angrily. Ragahv looked back when Gayetry said, "Ragahv how you will be able to run this case? How you will be able to arrange money to pay lawyers fees?" Hearing her Ragahv said, "Dadi, have faith on me. I will try my best to arrange money. I will do part time job besides my study. Resting his head on dadi's shoulder, Ragahv said, "Dad worked very hard to build this and I can't let his hard work gets..." He couldn't finish.
Gayetry had a small land in her name. She decided to sell it so that she could help Ragahv with the case. One week later Gayetri went to meet a buyer taking Prem with her. She told Kalpana that she will be back in the evening. In the evening after finishing her coaching, Kalpana came back to the Mansion. She was about to enter into the Mansion but stopped thinking something. She walked toward the security guard and asked him about Gayetry. The guard told her that they didn't back yet. Kalpana went back to the Mansion and was waiting for dadi to come back at the door. She knew that Ragahv was at home alone and she didn't want to face him. Kalpana kept waiting but there was no sign of dadi. All of a sudden rain started.
Raghav was in his room, taking to a lawyer about the case. While talking to the lawyer, he heard land phone was ringing. He put his cell phone on hold and picked up the other phone,
Gayetry: Ragahv, we are stuck here due to the rain. I don't know when we will be able to come back. Can you check on Kalpana
Ragahv: sure.
Ragahv went to Kalpana's room but she was not there. He looked for her everywhere in the Mansion. "She is supposed to come back in the evening," he mumbled to himself. He looked at the wall clock. It was 10:30 PM. "Where is she?" Something clicked in his mind. He remembered something,
(Flashback start) After that holi incident, Kalpana hid herself from Ragahv. She tried not to come in front of him. Few days later when Ragahv was going outside passing the living room, he could sense someone behind him. He looked behind but the person hid herself behind the nearest wall. After thinking something, he said, "I know it is you Kalpana. Please come out." When he didn't hear anything, Ragahv called her by her name again, "Kalpana." After few seconds, Kalpana said, "I left my book on that table and I need to get it. But I can't come out until you are there." At that moment Ragahv realized that Kalpana was still upset and was not ready to talk to him or come in front of him. Another day when Ragahv scolded Prem for not passing with good marks, he heard Kalpana saying to Prem, "I told you not to show him your marks, he will scold you." At that time Ragahv realized that Kalpana found him not friendly anymore, but an angry man who would scold everyone for everything (Flashback end)
"Kalpana didn't come home because of me?" He mumbled to himself. He totally forgot that he put on hold someone. Without wasting a second he came outside with an umbrella as it was raining heavily. He asked the security guard about Kalpana.
The guard: Sir, she came here in the evening and asked me about dadi ji. After that she walked toward the entrance. I thought she was going inside the Mansion.
Ragahv: Did you see her going outside?
The guard said: No sir.
Ragahv: It means she is around here.
Without wasting a second both of them started searching for Kalpana around the Mansion. After searching for 5 minutes, Ragahv heard the guard saying, "Sir." Ragahv ran toward the garden and was shocked. He was shocked what he just saw. He saw Kalpana totally drenched, laying on a swing cuddling herself due to the cold. For a moment his heart skipped seeing her in this state. Without wasting a second, Ragahv lifted her in his arms and walked toward the Mansion.
(Kalpana 11 and Ragahv 21)Ragahv placed her on his bed and covered her with a blanket. Her whole body was shivering due to the cold. No one was at home that's why he changed her wet dress under the blanket and made her wear one of his shirts. He touched her forehead and realized she had high temperature. Looking at her lifeless body he almost had tears in his eyes. He kept blaming himself for her in this situation. Without wasting a second he brought a bowl of water and a piece of cloth. He put the piece of wet cloth on her forehead to bring the temperature down. He sat beside her on the bed, and kept messaging her palm and feet. He was so scared when her temperature was not going down. He couldn't see her in this condition. He took her hand in his and said, "Princess, please get well soon. I can't see you in this situation." It was 5:00 AM. Slowly her temperature came down after attempting the whole night. Finally Ragahv got relieved. Seeing her sleeping peacefully, Ragahv leaned back and rested his head on the headboard and closed his eyes to take a little nap. As sun rays hit her eyes, Kalpana opened her eyes slowly. She felt something on her forehead. She took it out and saw a piece of wet cloth and then her eyes fell on Ragahv who was sleeping beside her rested his head on the dashboard. When she tried to get off from the bed, she noticed that her dress was changed. Then she realized that Ragahv brought her here and changed her dress.
After one hour, Ragahv opened his eyes and saw Kalpana was not there. He got off from the bed and started searching for her. Finally he found her in her room, sleeping on the bed.
Kalpana opened her eyes feeling someone caressing her hair. A smile appeared on her face seeing Gayetry in front of her. She got off and hugged dadi. "Dadi, I missed you so much," Kalpana said. Hugging her back, dadi said, "I missed you too my child." Dadi broke the hug and said, "I heard you had high fever last night." She added, "You were absolutely fine during the day but all of a sudden, how did you fall sick." Kalpana lowered her head as she didn't want to get caught and scolded. She was surprised thinking, Ragahv didn't tell dadi anything. "Ok, lets go to the washroom. I will sponge your body with wet cloth," saying so Dadi started dragging KAlpana to the washroom. "Dadi, I am not a kid anymore. I am 11. I can do it by myself." Hearing her, dadi said, "You are always a kid for me."
After taking a quick shower, Kalpana came out from the washroom. She walked toward her dresser while drying her hair with a towel. All of a sudden her eyes fell on a piece of paper with medicines laying on the dresser. She took it in her hand and read,
Take medicine on time with food.
Kalpana knew it was Ragahv.
Two days later Ragahv decided to go back to USA. Before he left he told dadi to take care of herself and the other family members.
At night, Kalpana was trying to do her homework but Ragahv's thoughts distracted her concentration again and again. She was surprised thinking why Ragahv didn't tell dadi that she was outside drenching all alone in the rain. "He really didn't want me to get scolded by dadi?" She mumbled to herself. She put her books in the school bag and decided to go to bed. After fixing herself on the bed, she was about to switch off the light, but stopped when her eyes fell on a piece of paper laying on the side table of the bed. She took it in her hand and read,
Princess, I am sorry. Please forgive me. Can we be friends again when I will come back from USA?
A smile appeared from her face. She was as happy as she had been waiting for this since a long time. It seemed like she got her life back. She missed her best friend a lot. She couldn't sleep whole night as she kept reading the note again and agian and again...
In USA
Ragahv got himself busy with studying and part time job. He had the whole family on him and the case to take care. With this thought he started working hard.
Ragahv thought to do something so that he could make money in his field within a short time. After researching a lot he found out that an Indian guy made his position in the financial world with his service Bureau Company called Flex Trade' within a short time. Ragahv got so much interest in it. At that time he made up his mind that he will make one like Flex Trade'. Without wasting a second he started working on his mission. He involved one of his friends to help him with finance.
3 years later(Ragahv 24, Kalpana 14, Prem 19)
As time passed Ragahv built the company and he and his friends started testing their machines before they offer their technology based services to any financial service company. He almost spent all his money he earned to build this company.
One evening Ragahv got phone call from his dadi. He was hell shocked when his dadi said, "Ragahv hamara ghar nilam ho raha hey." At that moment he felt like he fell into a crack on the earth.
In India
Raghav couldn't save their Mansion as he didn't have that much money. They got notice to empty the Mansion as soon as possible. He felt so helpless at that moment thinking he neither could save their Mansion nor run the case.
The same night Ragahv went to his parent's bed room. Looking at their photo frame hanging on the wall, he said apologizing, "Dad, I am sorry. I couldn't save this house." He walked toward the bed and sat on it. Remembering his moments with his parent in this Mansion, the water was flowing from his eyes. There was one person who was watching him standing at the door. It was none other than Kalpana. After dadi fell asleep, she was going to her room. Hearing someone's voice coming from Vikram and Gauri's room, she walked there and saw Ragahv talking to his parent's photo. Kalpana walked toward Ragahv and stood few inches away from him. He was sitting lowering his head down, that's why didn't notice someone's presence. Kalpana placed her hand on his shoulder causing him to look up. Their eyes met. Kalpana could feel him how much he cried, she could feel him how much he was in pain. Kalpana couldn't see him in this state. She sat in between his leg on her knees and hugged him. Pulling her closer to him, he hugged her back. Placing his head on her shoulder, Ragahv cried a lot as he needed someone's shoulder at that moment the most. Seeing him in that state Kalpana couldn't control her tears. They didn't know for how long they were in each other's arms. They were in each other's arms until they relived all their pain, sorrow. They felt so peace in each other's arms. At that moment they felt some strange connection to each other.
Few days later, some people entered into the Mansion and told Gayetry to empty the Mansion right way. At the time Ragahv and Prem were not at home. They went out to arrange an apartment or house to move their family. When Gayetry told them to come later as they couldn't manage anything to stay yet, those people got angry and said, "We can't give you any more time." And started throwing their furniture outside of the Mansion. One of them was about to take off Vikram and Gauri's photo frame from wall, Gayetry stopped that person and said angrily, "Don't touch that photo." The guy pushed Gayetry hard causing her to fall on the ground. Seeing this Kalpana got angry. She looked around and saw a flower vase. She took it in her hand and threw it toward the man causing him to bleed his forehead. "How dare you push my dadi hah," Kalpana shouted placing her both hands on her waist. The man fumed in anger and walked toward Kalpana. When he raised his hand, Kalpana closed her eyes in fear. The man was about to slap Kalpana, Ragahv stopped him by holding his hand. After few seconds, Kalpana opened her one eye slowly and saw Raghav. "How dare you," saying so Ragahv started punching the man. He kept punching the man until he lost his conscious.
In the evening they shifted to the new house. It was a small house with three bedrooms, one living room, one kitchen and two attached bathrooms. They had to leave their cars and most of the furnitures as they were not allowed to take them with them.
One evening, while going to his room passing kitchen, Raghav felt bad seeing dadi and Kalpana working in the kitchen. He entered into the kitchen and said, "Dadi, I feel really bad seeing you both working hard whole day." Gayetry smiled and said, "Beta, don't worry. Have faith on God. Everything will be fine." Ragahv nodded and said, "Dadi pray for me. I am trying to do something in USA. I am almost close to my dream. Just give me little more time, I will set everything right." Hearing him, Gayetry prayed for Ragahv and said, "I have faith on you beta." She asked, "Beta, when are you going back to USA?" He replied, "Two weeks later." While doing dinner, Ragahv noticed that Prem was missing. Ragahv noticed some change in Prem nowadays. He started coming home late. Ragahv didn't see him to concentrate on his study. He didn't like when he saw Prem few days with his other friends chatting on the street. He could see him getting spoiled. He thought to talk to Prem about it.
One morning, Ragahv was going out for groceries. Gayetry told Ragahv to take Kalpana with him as dadi needed to go to meet her friend. Ragahv nodded and took Kalpana with him. Ragna went to the nearest grocery store. While doing grocery, they didn't talk to each other that much. Ragahv just asked her, how her study was going on. Though Kalpana wanted to ask him about his life in USA but she was hesitating to ask. All of a sudden Ragahv noticed that Kalpana's eyes were stuck on something to the nearest jewelry store. Her trance broke when he asked, "Kalpana, where are you lost?" Kalpana replied with a smile, "Oh, sorry." Looking at the store, he asked her, "Do you want anything?" Kalpana shook her head in no. Ragahv smiled remembering how Kalpana was so stubborn. She had to get right way whatever she wanted. And now, as Kalpana grew, everything has changed. Looking at her, he thought, now she became a teenager, a beautiful girl, very shy, quiet, understanding, and matured. His trance broke when Kalpana said, "Chaley." Ragahv told Kalpana to wait for him in the taxi and he will be back in two minutes. Ragahv went to the nearest jewelry store and chose a pair of earring for Kalpana. "I hope she was looking at this earring," After mumbling to himself, he paid 1000 rupees and came back to Kalpana.
They reached home. Raghav thought to give her earning when he will come back as he needed to go outside to meet the lawyer now. He got ready to meet lawyer. While going outside, passing the kitchen, he noticed that Kalpana was wiping her tears as she was chopping onions. Ragahv smiled and walked toward her. Let me help you," saying so he took the onion in his hand from her. While taking the onion, their hands touched causing her to remove her hand shyly. Kalpana stood little far and was watching him surprised as how he was chopping onions like a professional cook. "How do you know all this?" Kalpana asked. Ragahv replied with a smile, "Dad used to send money to keep a maid for me but I didn't want to spend dad's money and I would do these all by myself." Kalpana took some onion chops and put on the hot oil in the frypan. The oil was too hot causing her to burn her finger. Ragahv looked at her when she shouted in pain, "Ouch." Without wasting a second, he took her finger in him and put it under the cold water. After few seconds he applied some ointment on her finger. While doing this process, Kalpana was just staring at him amused as how caring he was. She smiled remembering how much he would take care of her when she was a kid. She was surprised thinking he didn't change. He was the same as her old best friend. Ragahv made her sit on a chair and said, "You take rest. I will cook for everyone today." Hearing him she said, "But, you were going somewhere right?" Ragahv said, "Don't worry, I will go later." That day Ragahv cooked for everyone.
In the evening, Kalpana came to Prem's room as she needed some help in Math. While helping her, he noticed that Kalpana was looking so beautiful with this pink salwar suit. She kept her hair open. His eyes then fell on her lips as she put some lip gloss on her lips. Kalpana noticed that Prem was staring at her.
Kalpana: Prem, why are you staring at me?
Prem: You are looking so beautiful today.
Kalpana: I am looking the same every day.
Prem: No today you are looking different because you put lip gloss.
Kalpana: Ok, now let me concentrate on my math.
Saying so Kalpana started solving her Math. Prem thought something and said, "Kalpana, we are finance now." Hearing him she said, "Hah toh?" "All of my friends go out with their girlfriends, finance."
Kalpana: Hah, toh?
Prem: Not only that they do everything what a couple do after their marriage.
Kalpana looked at him confused as she didn't get what he actually wanted to say.
Prem: I meant to say, we can at least kiss each other.
"Chee!" Kalpana said and got off from the chair angrily. When she was about to leave the room, Prem stopped her holding her hand.
Prem: Kalpana, where are you going?
Kalpana: Leave my hand. I don't like to stay here anymore. I am going to my room.
Prem: I know you got angry but what is wrong if we kiss each other as we are going to marry in the future.
Kalpana: Prem, just leave my hand. I wont do what you want ok? Never.
Prem pulled her toward him and pined her against the almirah and started forcing on her to kiss her. Kalpana kept pushing him with all the force but he was too strong for her that she couldn't move. She started crying.
In the meantime, Ragahv entered into the house. While going to his room, he heard some noise coming from Prem's room. He tried to hear what was actually going on in that room. He heard Kalpana was pleading while sobbing, "Please leave me. I don't like it." It was enough for Ragahv that what was actually going on. Without wasting a second, he banged the door of Prem's room. Ragahv clenched his fist angrily seeing Prem forcing himself on Kalpana for a kiss. Ragahv walked toward him and pulled him by grabbed his shirt collar. Both Prem and Ragahv were face to face now. Prem was so scared seeing his bhai's red angry eyes. "How dare you to force on Kalpana," Hearing Ragahv, Prem kept apologizing, "Bhai, I am sorry. Please forgive me." Prem very well knew that Ragahv will not spare him and especially if it was a matter of Kalpana. Ragahv slapped very hard on Prem's cheek causing him to bleed on his lips. He slapped his other cheek. Ragahv looked at Kalpana who already hid herself beside the almirah. She was sobbing. Ragahv noticed prem's finger marks on her arms. "Kalpana you go to your room," Kalpana could sense how angry in his voice. After she left, Raghav looked at Prem again. Ragahv grabbed his collar again and started punching. He kept punching until he poured all his anger. Leaving Prem's lifeless body on the floor, Ragahv left from there.
When Gayetry came back from her friend's house, Ragahv told everything about Prem. He also told dadi whenever she needed to go out take Kalpana with her. Never leave Kalpana along with Prem. Gayetry was shocked thinking how Prem could misbehave with Kalpana. "Couldn't Prem wait four more years? How my bachchi, will feel now." Gayetry said. She added, "How Kalpana will feel, the person she is going to marry, he forced on her. Let me see what my bachchi is doing," Saying so dadi was about to go but stopped when Ragahv said confused, "Dadi, marry, Kalapana, what you were talking about?" Taking a deep breath dadi said, "I was talking about Kalpana and Prem's marriage. When they both will grow up, they will get married to each other. That's what their parents decided before they died." She added, "I wanted something else for my bachchi. But I have nothing to do as their parents already decided." Saying so dadi looked behind but Ragahv already left.
The next morning, Prem knocked Kalpana's room door to take permission before he entered into her room. When Kalpana gave him permission, he entered and apologized her putting his palms together. He promised her that he will not do it again. Kalpana forgave him. Then Kalpana went to Raghav's room with a jug of water. After placing the jug on the side table when she was about to leave, her eyes fell on a pair of earrings. She took it in her hand and remembered she was looking at the same earrnings in the store yesterday. "How did it come here?" She mumbled to herself. After remembering something, "He brought it for me?" She whispered to herself. A smile appeared on her face. In the next moment, he brought it for me but why he didn't give me? She thought. "I think he forgot," Saying so she left from there with the earrings.
In the evening Kalpana went to Ragahv's room to say thanks to him. She was waiting for him at the door as he was busy talking to someone on the phone. After waiting of half an hour, she left from there thinking she will talk to him later. Ragahv noticed it.
While everyone was having dinner, Kalpana noticed that Ragahv was very quiet. Dadi kept talking but he didn't say a word, just all his attention was on his food. When raghav completed his meal, Kalpana offered him with a glass of water, but he refused her pouring water for him by himself. After he left, Kalpana thought, what happened with him all of a sudden? She was so confused.
The next morning, Kalpana woke up little late. After freshening up she went to the kitchen. She made tea. She poured tea into a cup and placed it on a tray. While going out of the kitchen, dadi asked, "Kalpana, for whom you are taking this tea?" Hearing her, Kalpana said with a smile, "For Ragahv." Kalpna was shocked when dadi said, "But Ragahv already left for USA early in the morning." Kalpana had almost tears in her eyes. She ran to her room and dropped herself on the bed. She was so upset thinking how Ragahv could leave without saying a word with her. She locked herself in the room for whole day. She cried a lot.
