Hey guys, I am back with an update. Thank you all very much for all your wonderful comments. I am sorry it took so long but I was out of town for the most part of this week. Thank you very much again for encouraging me. I hope this part doesn't disappoint. I will be back soon with another update.
*Chapter 2*
"Umm excuse me, I think this is yours." Said a slightly accented voice from behind him. He turned around to see the beautiful girl on the platform holding his wand which had dropped out of his pocket when he was in a rush to climb onto the Hogwarts Express. He sighed with relief.
"Thank you so much for returning it. I am such a fool!" He clapped his hand to his head in frustration and then offered it to her. "Hi, I'm Sirius, Sirius Black. Nice to meet you."
"Sounds like 'Bond, James Bond'." She imitated the famous movie line perfectly and laughed lightly. "Hi, my name is Ganga, Ganga Patel. Very nice to meet you too." She took his outstretched hand and then folded her own. "This is how we greet people in my country." She smiled at him and made her way into the compartment. He followed her and noted the apprehensive look on her face when he shut the door.
"Here, take it. I am now unarmed." He threw his wand at her making her blush when she realized he knew of her fear. She could barely keep the heat off her cheeks. She thanked God that she had dark skin and also that her granny had not overloaded it with whitening products. Thankfully her blush couldn't be seen. He was devastatingly handsome and she couldn't stop staring. It would be nice to run her hands through that black hair…She chided herself for these thoughts. She had managed 17 years without a crush and she definitely was going to break her record now, especially with a firangi in a foreign land. What on earth was she thinking? She didn't know him! He was utterly unsuitable! And in her family crush = marriage. She wasn't allowed to have crushes on handsome Britishers! And he probably had all sorts of habits she disliked, meat-eating for example.
"Finished staring?" He chuckled as she looked at him scandalized.
"Nope." She continued staring, but now very openly until he could not take it any more. Sirius turned the colour of a beetroot and had to admit defeat.
"I'm impressed. So, tell me a little bit more about you. It is quite odd for someone new to be joining in 7th year. What brings you to Hogwarts?"
"Ah, I was expecting that. You may know that a girl from Hogwarts, Bellatrix Black was sent to the Romanian School of Magical Discipline for undesirable conduct right?" She stopped as his face hardened. He knew too well why. Lily had been in the hospital wing for a good two weeks and so had James for trying to protect her.
"Yes I know. All I can say is good riddance."
Flushing slightly, she continued. "Another boy there, Derek O'Meel, had become much better so they decided to send him to my old school – Aum Institute of Magical and Spiritual Training."
"Wow. That's one of the best Institutes in the world."
"Well so is Hogwarts. When he came, they asked if anyone wanted to go to Hogwarts as an exchange student. I readily agreed and so here I am." She finished brightly but her face took on a more serious tone as she continued. "I hope I can manage here. The curriculum is so very different and things are so different here."
"Don't worry, I am here." She smiled at his comment and continued to look out of the window. "If you need any help on a particular thing, as me or my friends. We are known as the Marauders and will be glad to help." Sirius was surprised at his own words. Since when had he become so sweet? This girl had some strange effect on him…
"Yes, there is something actually. I am a vegetarian and although they promised me vegetarian food I am terrified that they may add fish or chicken stalk or beef or something. That's why I starved from last night since I boarded the flight from India."
"That's terrible! I could never do without food for so long. How on earth did you manage it? Anyway, about your food dilemma, no problem! Remind me after we reach the school. In the meanwhile, here, take my lunch. It is my own cooking so I hope you don't mind." He handed out a shapeless cheese sandwich to her. "It is only cheese since I didn't have the dough to buy meat and was too lazy to go and withdraw some."
She raised her eyebrows at his laziness but didn't comment further. "Thank you."
Just then, the door opened and a blonde girl came in and jumped herself on Sirius's lap. Ganga's mouth formed a little 'O' of disgust and she delicately looked down to avoid looking at this ------------. She wasn't going to lower her dignity by saying it. The newcomer was dressed in an extremely short miniskirt that showed off her legs and a tiny t-shirt that barely covered anything. Ganga wasn't a prude (not much anyway) but she hated vulgarity and this girl was the epitome of it. She boiled inside and felt a pang at her heart as she thought of how different the two cultures were…
