He kissed her cheek many times "Have u seen a doc?" he asked

"No!!! Sabko pata chal jaayega" she whispered "HOW CAN I?" "I dont want anyone to know" she argued

He nodded "Then we need to come up with a plan to keep u in this room until mid May" he spoke deeply into her eyes

She didnt get the mockery at first

She kicked him angrily "U think its funny, can u imagine what they will say?" she asked

He shook his head innocently

"sam" "i dont want to see her until I have the baby... nor Akka... Appa will kill me... Dad? Dad ayyo! Dad...
Dad thinks I have a stomach bug how can I suddenly say I am pregnant?" II explained how her logic was impeccable

"Amma... I can tell Amma and Periappa... BAS thats it" "Yes Periappa will be OK with this news" she said with a faraway look in her eyes

He kissed her to shut her up

"shhh shhh" he ordered

"No I wont, its all your fault, I am laying in bed on a Wed morning" she hissed

Waving a finger

He grabbed it and sucked on it slowly... "Can u be aroused when u are pregnant?" she asked him... startled as she felt her toes curl and her heart race

"Dunno! Havent been" he mocked gently

"Rakshasaney!!!" she cursed louldy
He kissed her fully, everywhere, she found herself without night clothes and under things a few minutes later

"U smell like the plane" she moaned swallowing hard

He watched her expression change... carefully... she wore her night shirt with trembling hands

She bolted from the bed and ran to the bathroom and retched for a good 10 minutes and sat down on the plush sofas in a corner burying her face in a towel and sobbed

He sat by her, and gathered her "hey" he coaxed

"It wont stop" "I HATE any smell... good bad... food kisi se bhi" she cried

Her face was pink and glowing

He couldnt believe his child was inside her

Fiesty and talkative like her, constantly arguing, never still even for a moment

"Hmm" he nodded caringly

He let go of her and looked under the bath sink and
found a large bowl, grabbed a couple bottles of water from the frig in the living room, helped her to bed
Asked her what she ate, she listed the three things she had in the last three days, he force fed her some crackers and some clear juice.
He texted Mahavir to go buy some suckers/lollipops

She feared she would throw up

"U shud just use this"

She looked at him with grateful eyes and nodded

"i will probably fill it up in an hour" she warned

"Hmm... we might have to buy more then" he said "worried"
She smiled weakly... "MY rules still apply"

"Oh ya... absolutely" he whispered, holding her until she fell asleep again, texting Bally his wife was sick, he went off to read a book on the swing

Ranjan came up around 11, and found him reading on the swing

"Guard ne bata you are here" he said

HE RARELY, RARELY, SELDOM came up... R&B recalled one time... in November when he did

"Umm ya" he put his book down politely

Standing up

"Vaith vaith" Ranjan smiled

"Beemar hai, Doc nu dikhaya?" he asked his son

"Umm..." R&B squirmed

Ranjan watched with delight... he had to lean on the door jamb

"Dr Baig nu phone karaan?" he offered

"Ummm.. I am thinking of" R&B squirmed, suddenly shy

"Yes yes... tell me puttarjee" Ranjan was eager

R&B tucked his nervous hands in his pocket

"Umm... shes pregnant" he said hoarsely

Ranjan limped to an expensive rattan chair and sat down

R&B nodded smiling "THATS EXACTLY HOW I FELT IN PARIS" he told his Dad in his mind

"Uh... huh... hmmm..." "Huh" "Hmmm" Ranjan began to cry after grunting too many times Cry

He was planning to joke and tease his son about her having a stomach bug

But the direct "few words way" in which his son spoke ... always... just abs stole his heart

He completely lost his carefully written mental script

"Huh" he cleared his throat yet again

R&B walked to his swing, and grabbed the unopened chilled bottle of water and brought it to his Dad

"Mubarkaan, betaji" Ranjan almost gagged saying it

"Do u need some water" R&B towered over the father

Ranjan nodded accepting it with shaking hands "Yes yes" he nodded

R&B grabbed it back and opened it as Ranjan struggled to

Handing it back to his Dad

R&B sat down by his Dad after the longest time... as both men stared out the balcony... wordlessly
the routine Chanakyapuri morning seemed sunnier all of sudden Embarrassed
