Before we get swamped by 2015 award season, I wanted to highlight some highly contested Filmfare Best Actress wins in the last 3 decades.

My selection:

- Scope: All wins from 1985 to 2014 scrutinized.

- Only the winner is displayed with the frontrunner. The frontrunner is the one who despite being heavily lauded that year, went home empty handed - no critics or special awards or any other reason to take Filmfare home that night!

Hands down it's Vidya kahani over priyanka barfi

Vidya was excellent but priyanka was simply out standing. She nailed it as jhilmil.

I SO AGREE. Priyanka was OUTSTANDING as Jhilmil. I felt sorry for her and totally sympathized with her. 👏

It sucks that Vidya won.

What's up with all these awards for Hum Tum? As much as I like Rani, I don't think she should have got an award for this film. Just like Saif did not deserve a national award for it.

Tabu in Chandni Bar and PC in Barfi were the more deserving ones in their years IMHO.

Also, cannot believe Kajol won over Tabu. Tabu's performance in Chandni Bar was outstanding. Kajol in K3G was over the top at times.

PC as Jhilmil for sure- she was robbed royally. She had every right to be upset, it was a career best for her.

Even though I loved Kahaani but Vidya's performance was not path breaking or something, while PC's was. Never seen an BW actress act of that standard, she was irreplaceable and got the nuances of her character spot on.
