Pooja Gor has a rather unconventional approach towards life " both professional and personal. After playing a quintessential bahu in 'Mann Ki Awaaz " Pratigya', she chose to bid her time and take up a character in complete contrast to her previous role. And hence, when she got the opportunity to play a doctor in the TV show 'Ek Nayi Ummeed " Roshni', she lapped it up.

It did require a lot of preparation as she's wary of visiting hospitals or doctors. "The whole atmosphere is scary. I feel extremely nervous about visiting a doctor and avoid it if I can," she says. The actress discusses work with her actor beau Raj Singh Arora, who is also quite choosy about the offers he takes up. "I discuss with him only those offers which intrigue me. When this show came along, he told me that if this materialises, it would be a contrast to what I have done on TV so far. I do get influenced by him and for the better."

She is happy that the new project is unlike a typical saas-bahu drama. "That's one thing it doesn't have, apart from a vamp who's perpetually scheming and multiple plastic surgeries. I am at a stage where I have the option of making a choice. Being in this industry and seeing women taking charge in all walks of life, I can't relate to such bahus who are so dependent on their men. I feel bad for them, as such women do exist in society," says Pooja.

Keeping the reel bahus aside, does she have plans to become one in real life any time soon? "Not for another three years at least. I am too young to get married," she says, adding, "I don't have to tie the knot to make sure that my relationship doesn't go kaput. If you want to keep it together, you will push the boundaries to make it work. If it's not healthy for you, you will walk out of it. Marriage doesn't guarantee security, it is not something a piece of paper can give. It's something that your heart will give."
