CRACKS, COLOR ORANGE AND THE ANGUISH OF RETURNS
Cracks are widening, insecurities are getting highlighted, masks are getting peeled.Relationships are fragile , isn't it?
We take for granted, the people who are always there for us. We tend to be more careful in our words or gestures with people whom we hardly know.
One careless word , some loose sentences mouthed not holding our tongues in check can cause considerable damage. In 'anguish of returns',Mrs,Iyer did that unwittingly by saying where is vandu going to Paris , Manny can come see her anytime. Vandu very casually says II when she has her babies can have anything she wants in Paris.
Bala , the mudhal mappilai , the first son in law feels slighted, dude and his family comes in to the picture and he feels suddenly his thunder is being stolen away. The poker evenings and the nights he spent in the moneyed presence is adding to the toll. It has made him feel inadequate . One end he sees himself struggling to make ends meet and the other end, people casually playing with excess.
His inadequacy is eating him up and he is poking II ,his kanna once, by her marraige into a wealthy family now becoming the source /root cause of his misery.
On the other side , we have II wondering , how did it change so suddenly. In the update 'CRACKS" she is pleading to her Akka not to say anything more negative about Bala thinking 'I am not already feeling so comfortable about your husband , don't add to it'
II idealized Bala, choose to see only his virtues and not his faults. And now when a situation has presented itself, It is hurting her terribly to see Bala coming down from the pedestal she kept him in , make mistakes out of his characteristic traits that she assumed he had, and bear open all those dark, sad, confused places within him. Bala hitting on the dude's family by mentioning Manny not coming to see the baby yet. That wasn't comfortable at all. He like Manny did the other night , is saying hey, I'm there too, it cannot be always always about dude, Paris and stuff.
Unfortunate,cracks are widening, whiffs of envy from Bala, the Kannas are not coming out freely , II's shifty eyed uncomfortable presence in front of her Athim , II looking for reassurance that all's normal , waving her byes to her loved ones
and being reciprocated with tatas and byes from all except her Athim , Bala.
Sad, Disillusionment, that's what II is going thru with Bala now.
