In bed... and l(a)ying😳
Sunday the 5th Sam was busy at the "Mommy & Me" playdate so II couldnt pick her up on the way home from the hospital,
Monday the 6th they exchanged texts during the day, II went to her parents from work and hospital
Sam called her when she was finishing up dinner at DII, her phone was on the bed, so she called on Amma's which was on top of the frig
Amma was serving her so was able to get to it faster
"Aa jao ghar I made veg biryani and lamb biryani for Tan" she begged
"Ek to baarish hai doosri baat I dont even have permission to come to D II I snuck off" Ii chuckled
"Dad ka ya R&B ka permission?"
"Dad ka, If R&B stops me then I just show up here at D II to spite him" she giggled
"Bas!! Mujhe maloom tha" Sam giggled "I knew u wouldnt listen to my bro"
Lasya cooed in the back...
"Main driver bhejti hoon aa jao" Sam coaxed
"I already ate Sam... Didi... mera matlab... main kya kehti thi aapko?" II asked sheepishly
"Besharam 10 din mein bhool gayi?" Sam asked
"Umm... unko to main Manny kehti hoon, she is only a year older na... aapko kya kahoon?"
"Bataoon tumhe?" Sam threatened
"Sorry... its too late now.. abhi to bas Sam bulaoongi" Ii chuckled
"Aa jao, Tan had someone bring Baskin Robbins, there are 6 flavors, sab 2 gallon tubs" Sam tempted her
"Appa said I shud stay here or go home, aap Appa se permission dilao" Ii whispered, shaking her head when Amma offered more rice for curd
"Vendaam ma" II muttered
"She doesnt even eat" Appa muttered
"She has a lot of work stress" Amma lamented
"Oru swayanala vaadiya pannindu irukka" (she has married a selfish man) he only cares about his career" Appa pointed out
"WE JUST ended the impasse, neenga tiruppi arambichutela?" (u started all over again no?") Amma was pissed
II was wandering the kitchen walking towards the balcony
It was raining hard
"Do u have the driver?" Sam enquired
"Hmm" Ii nodded
"Nahi to wahin ruk jao, I will text Dad" Sam said
"He is so sweet, I just came back last night he let me go see Periappa, and now again I
came to see my parents, he never says anything to me Sam"II felt genuinely touched
"Arey he wants u to be home all the time, singing, or arranging play dates for the boys" Sam giggled
"He wants the house to be noisy and full" Sam giggled
"He says to me, tum ghar par bachon ka school khol lo, I will help u from 3-6" II laughed hysterically
"He hates that quiet house" Sam said sadly
"I told him, I am not going anywhere now" Ii reassured
"U can arrange for back up u know" Sam said cheerfully
"Kisko bithakar jaaoon when I go to work?" Ii asked sincerely
"If u have kids then Dad doesnt need to start a school" Sam pointed
"Umm... ya... sure" "Long distance marriage, then long distance parenting"
There was a longish pause
"I am sorry... its all so complicated for u... u dont deserve this uncertainty II" Sam said
"Its not your fault... its mine... AND YOUR BROTHER'S" II reminded
"I wish u got pregnant in month one, phir woh kahin nahi jaata" Sam said
"So? what does that say abt me... the kid is more important?" Ii asked deeply hurt
"NO... LOVE...NO...NO... Aisa nahi hai" Sam begged
"Appa thinks so too... he thinks he doesnt care abt me so he let me live alone" II was choked up
"Do u think that way?" Sam asked
"Nooo" II denied it strongly
Sam smiled softly
"Abhi koi hope hai kya?" she asked ina whisper
"for what?" Ii asked
"Ummm... u know... a baby?"
"Nope... I had my cycle in Venice" II said shrugging
"U are a sadist... u went for his Bday and tormented him like this?" she laughed hysterically
"He didnt care, he just wants me by him... cycle or no cycle" II chuckled
Shutting the balcony door... soaked from head to toe
Appa watched the 11 PM Sun News
Amma was on her ipad on the couch
II wandered to Periappa's room the room was empty and the lights were out... It jolted her insides
She walked back to her room
"U cud have stayed another week"
"And increased my chances of getting pregnant?" II argued
"Hmmm... ya... or u cud have stayed 6 months" Sam teased
"Meri kisi ko fiqar nahi hai, bas apne bhai ki" Ii mumbled
"TUM DONO KA KYA KAROON MAIN?"
"Mera kuch nahi karen aap, apne bhai ka karen... I am not going until his next Bday" II declared
"Thats mean"
"I married a Delhi guy" Ii reminded Sam
Sam put her on a brief hold...
She lay on her bed... it flashed 5 texts from his number...
"Home yet?" he asked (have u returned to Malcha Marg for the night?)1st
"I am heading to Brussels and Geneva this week" he said
"Call me" his 3rd text around an hour after his 2nd text
"Got our tix...8 AM tomm (Tuesday the 7th)" he had said abt his Geneva travel plans... 4th
"In bed... thinking of you" was his 5th, around 30 mins after his 4th text
She texted furiously as she waited for Sam
"Abhi nahi" on 1
"Kyon?" for 2nd"
"Mmm...mmm..On the phone for 3rd"
"Kiske saath?" "Our tix ka kya matlab hai?" for the 4th"
"U are a liar" "For the 5th"
Five minutes later she sent a 6th
"Umm... no not for the bed... but for the rest"
