Tumhi Ho Bandhu Sakha Tumhi, is a show set in the
bustling town of Agra, Pethewala highlights the importance of Joint
family in times of today where Nuclear families are the calling of the
day. The head of the family - Sharmila Dadi, believes that it is
quintessential for a family to stay closely knit. Together, they run a
family business of sweet shops called - 'Pethewala'. Dadi, the eldest
member of the family believes that a family is like a quilt made up of
various pieces of clothes, though different in texture, when joined
together gives out a warmth which cannot be compared with any other
feeling in this world and hence she is very proud of the fact that her
family is one of such unique quilts. Trilokchand, elder son of Dadiji is
heads this big family, of more than 10 members staying together. He
along with his wife Elaichi has successfully raised 7 children by
investing traditional values with the modern mindset into them. And the
seven gems of the Pethewala family are Amar, Ayush, Ajay, Avni, Bhushan,
Utpal and Mishri.
Ajay is the youngest one at home and thus is
pampered by all. He is a fun loving young guy whose life revolves around
friends, girlfriends, music, bikes, gadgets etc. He too, like others in
the family, is attached to the roots and respects family values. He is
trustworthy as a friend too and values his true friends like his family.
According to him, family is the only place where you can get
forgiveness umpteen times...
Bhushan is Trilokchand Mamaji's son. As a kid, he was so
possessive about his mother's love thinking his mother would love them
more than him. He even tried to emotionally blackmail his mother that if
she doesn't love him, he would run away. With time though, he learned
that his family is a lovable one and he also accepted his cousins like
his siblings.
Shreya is Bhushan's wife and is from a nuclear
family. She is the only child of her parents and most pampered. She
always gets whatever she wants. She is the priority in her family. She
craves constant attention and her parents ensure that they suffice all
her needs. As she is the only child there was never need for her to
share her things and so she is never comfortable with the concept of
sharing or living in a joint family. She is possessive about her things.
She is very independent and loves freedom.
The eldest member in the family, Dadi is quite
unlike others Dadis of her age. She is a fun loving woman who believes
in living happily and letting others do so and loves shopping. Dadi not
only keeps all the members of her family intact, but also treats late
dadaji as if he is still alive. Dadi has also filled the void of her
late daughter by Mamiji, who is now her partner in every crime and fun!
They share a very cute and healthy rapport. Dadi keeps younger
generation very happy with her young thoughts and choices.
Mamaji is the most good looking member in the
family and he knows it... it is evident by the way he carries himself
from tip to toe... neat and tidy, and takes efforts to maintain this...
he is health conscious too, never misses his yoga sessions! His love for
mamiji is seen in them sharing the same specks, explaining things to
each other just in telepathy. Mamaji loves his children very much but
dotes on her sister's kids as well and treats them equally.
Better half of Mamaji, Mamiji is a loved and
loving lady of the family. No knowledge of cooking was her biggest fear
when she married Mamaji but the love and support from dadi and mamaji
both, made her fear vanish! She never had to cook as dadi would take
care of that. A foodie by nature, with taste buds craving more for junk
food! She dotes on all the children in family and treats her and nanad's
kids equally and believes in keeping the family united.
She is Mamaji's elder sister's daughter and is
the most sensitive person in the family. Avani doesn't share her sadness
with anyone as she doesn't want others to become sad. This makes her
keep quite most of the time. A sarvgun sampanna kind of girl as she is
calm, obedient and has a keen interest towards household chores, which
is hard to find these days! She is a girl who can never say NO to others
and believes in sharing all that she has. Having a gratitude towards
mamaji and mamiji, Avani shares a beautiful relationship with
Amar is Mamaji's elder sister's son and is the
eldest child in the family, thus the most mature one. However, he
doesn't let his maturity kill the fun loving person in him. For Amar,
Mamaji is an idol and he wants to follow his footprints. On professional
front, Amar is himself an idol. His communication skills, strong memory
and strong personal relations skill make him an adept businessman. He
can sense any sort of problem in the family and doesn't rest until it is
resolved. Making serious situations light anyway, making his wife
Vinati realize her mistakes by imitating her in a cute way and putting
family above everything, are some of the most appreciable qualities in
Amar.
Amar's wife Vinati is the eldest bahu in the
family. She loves her family and is equally loved by all. However, she
is extremely straightforward and blunt which sometimes hurts others.
Forgiven by all soon, she realizes her mistake. She is a big phone
addict and social networking bee. She is very active on social sites and
loves clicking pictures and uploading them, and then keeping a watch on
the likes and comments! A day without phone for her is like a day
without food for others! Vinati works from home and gets full support
from mamiji and dadi as well. She every now and then has fake and cute
fights with Amar when he mimics her too much... but she always ends up
laughing!
Samar is Amar and Vinati's kid who, like other
kids of his age, enjoys playing and pranking. He is the apple of
everyone's eye but his favorite is Abhishek chachu, because he does
push-ups with Samar sitting on his back. He is naughty and keeps
threatening people sharing their secrets in order to win chocolates. He
loves using Smart Phones and wants to keep playing games on the
Computers. He hates studying but is a smart kid.
A voracious sports lover, Abhishek is Mamaji's
elder sister's son. Though he is a national level boxer, he has an
incorrigible craze for cricket and worships Sachin Tendulkar! During one
of his championships he fell in love with Sabaa who hails from
Pakistan. Being a sportsperson he is very conscious about his diet and
physique and in following a healthy routine he has full support from
Vinati. He is a little indecisive but gets support from family.
Utpal is the second son of Mama and Mami and is a
silent lover in disguise of a sincere boy! Unlike Ajay, he remains calm
most of the time but has a lot of romance going on in the head! He
shares a very strong bonding with dadi and spends a lot of time with her
listening to her love story with dadaji and tries to learn something
from them. For him, family is the most important push and pull, they
will push you in the water to swim, and if you drown, they will only
pull you out...
Mishri is Trilokchand Mama's daughter and is a
complete papa's girl. She is the most looked after person in the family.
She isn't very expressive or outgoing, but never leaves a chance of
expressing her likes and dislikes. She is a lively person and unlike
Avani, always remains indulged in some or the other kind of fun. Mishri
is very possessive about Avani and dotes on her. She doesn't trust
anyone easily and takes her time to know a stranger. Mishri is a
brilliant katthak dancer and expresses her feelings through dance.
Ajju is Ajay's best friend. From sharing their
name to always hanging around with each other, there is nothing that
remains a secret between the two. The two are so similar that they fall
in love with the same girl as well. Ajju is an ambitious and a studious
boy unlike Ajay. He tops his exams and is always ready to work hard.
Ajju is almost an extended part of the Pethewaala Parivaar and is always
found in their house.
