10 Reasons You Need To Watch The Epic Channel Every Night At 10!

#EpicAt10

If you're someone like me who is obsessed with taking a #NostalgiaTripevery now and then because the current state of Indian television saddens you, then I have very good news for you. The EPIC Channel is soon launching 3 brand new shows starting Monday, 6th July, that Team MissMalini is super excited about.

Here are 10 reasons why your need to tune in to The Epic Channel at 10 every night!

1. Because Tagore is back...

Stories By Rabindranath Tagore

Their show, Anurag Basu Presents Stories By Rabindranth Tagore is grander than you'd expect. Tagore was known for his compelling narratives set in the backdrop of beautiful Bengal. No one captures the zeitgeist of pre-partition Bengal quite like he did and now is your chance to experience it all.

2. Because "Tulsi, who?"...

Radhika Apte

One of the main reasons this show is something we should all get behind is because of Tagore's women. Progressive, strong willed, rebellious, beautiful, and feisty - the women is Tagore's stories are interesting, intriguing and remain a point of feminist dialogue till date.

3. Because it's just like the movies...

Okay. I actually managed to catch a little sneak peek of the show and I am not exaggerating one bit when I say, it's just like the movies! Not only is the cinematography at par with any recent movie there is, the background score and music in general has been paid special attention to. Arijit Singh, Neeti Mohan, Akriti Kakkar and Shalmali Kholgadehave sung for the show. It sounds like a full fledged jukebox already!

4. Because Anurag Basu...

Anurag Basu

And who better to helm this movie-like TV show than boss man, Anurag Basu? For the uninitiated, Anurag has actually had a very successful stint as a TV directer with a popular show and now, just think Barfiand translate that onto the small screen with talented actors like Radhika Apte, Amrita Puri, among others.

5. Because it's short and sweet...

Stories By Rabindranath Tagore

Even though the magnanimity of Tagore can never really be captured, Basu has managed to recreate some of his iconic novels and short stories in 2-3 episodes. Genius, I say!

6. Because there's more...

And if, for some strange reason, you're not into the grandeur of Tagore, don't you worry! See, heaven's got a plan for you (get it?). The Epic Channel is all set to lure you in with one of our nation's biggest religions - cricket! Called Mid Wicket Tales With Naseeruddin Shah , the show will take you through a journey of cricket trivia, legends, anecdotes and all things awesome about India's love affair with cricket.

7. Because Naseeruddin Shah...

Naseeruddin Shah

And if that's not good enough for you, guess who is hosting this fab show? Who else, but Naseeruddin Shah? For those of you who don't know, Naseer actually wanted to become a cricketer growing up and has often gone on record to say that that's what he'd be if he weren't an actor. Naseer's charm as host is something I'm already looking forward to.

8. Because Bollywood is forever...

Of course, you can't talk about one religion and not talk about the other! Bollywood has not been ignored (would they dare?). This is the show that I am looking forward to the most. A show about the evolution of Bollywood and its characters. Called Jaane Pehchaane With Javed Akhtar, the show takes us through our absolutely favourite journey - the one through Tinseltown.

Stories from sets, blasts from the post, vintage gossip and overall knowledge about how staple Bollywood characters have changed from then to now. If  the phrases Angry Young Man, Hero Ki Maa, Heroine Ka Bhai, Cabaret make any sense to you, this show is going to be your jam!

9. Because Javed Saab...

Javed Akhtar

JAVED AKHTAR IS HOSTING IT!!! Enough said.

10. Because #IndianTVWin

Like I said, it's so refreshing to see anyone try new content on Indian TV and this really seems like a huge step towards making Indian television cool again.

Very Well Said By Anurag Basu . I Completely Agree With Him.
Today's female character in television, their morality, rights n wrongs ,their decision, their thinking. Is so much regressive.Tagore who wrote 100yrs before these characters and our television characters have old thinking beyond those 100yrs .Thats why this is relevant [Tagore story characters]
