9 years salim did not have a family
A father to hold his hand when scared and guide him
A mother to comfort him in pain
A brother to play with
A sister to laugh with
A friend to console him
After 9 years he returned home and
His father killed his best friend for 9 years(as per him) but he forgave
His parents arranged marriage to Man Bai without asking him and announced publicly
His mother Jodha told him she will cut all relations with him if he refuses proposal(in shaitanpura) although she suspects Salim and anarkali love each other
His father announced him as walihaad but made Murad shah I Shah(he told later that is not true but still that was public humiliation is it not- full Mughal empire now thinks he was unfit to be shah I shah as per Akbar because he is a hindu begum son a najayaaz as per Shah of Persia and Akbar indirectly endorsed this view by saying Murad is my muslim wife son so I am making him Shah I Shah). Imagine if something like that happens with a child that someone said this guy is a najayaz because he is born to non religion queen and father changes decision is it not humiliating in eyes of public?
Salim slapped Murad in fit of rage and Akbar called DEK to give him punishment. Instead Akbar could have shouted and slapped him in private in front of anarkali and Murad(if that satisfy Murad) and spread the word around(tit for tat) that would be less humiliating and justice. Salim not slapped Murad in front of DEk so why punish him in DEK? And Akbar was talking to him as if Salim had murdered someone innocent knowingly in DEK all glaring and angry?
Salim may have many faults he hate his parents, speak rudely etc but why?
Because he has never seen or experienced love and care and affection from them for 9-10 years. Battle field is brutal and ruthless in order to survive you become hard hearted and also start hating family for abandoning your childhood in war field when you should be playing hide and seek with siblings and friends and going to school etc
Does Salim deserve a DEK punishment of all things?
It seems Salim family consider him a robot - he has to just do what they want? no pain no fear no anguish no anger etc to be expressed just robot obeying parents order, Shahenshah order, Shah I shah order etc. I feel more like Salim is employed at agra fort by Mughal family not a family member, he was walihaad for so long, now he is a prince etc
If Murad was angry at Salim he should have slapped Salim back baat katam brothers do fight right and forget not pull things to high court, supreme court for slapping etc
I do not understand this Shah I shah matter at all- when Salim was small and designated to be walihaad he and murad would have fights and roll in mud etc then no DEK called by Akbar for Murad, now Salim slapped Murad and he called DEK why?
Salim said he had no problem if Murad is next king - he just do not want Murad ordering him around to come to him etc any elder brother do not care if younger brother President of USA, first relation is that of younger brother to him.
Akbar is king but he respects Hamida and does not order her around because a mother, father and elder brother, elder sister comes first and deserve respect. Even if younger brother may be King of world but he is younger and that relation comes first is it not?
When Hamida slapped Akbar he kept quiet no because she is elder, when she cold he listens quietly is it not. So Murad may be Shah I shah but he is younger to Salim so should he not go around and pressure Salim to do work etc.
Any elder brother or sister will feel the way Salim felt - he said he do not have mood to work and shall not work so let it be go and complaint to Akbar he shall handle. Why argue saying this is important work do it now only etc?
