He was responsible for the death of another human and he basically got off scot-free. I don't know him personally so I can't say if he regrets it or not but I've never once heard/seen him acknowledge this incident so as far as I know, he's a pretty rotten person.

But this accident with other incidents from his past makes me wonder? Does he really? Or does he have a very mild case of sociopathy. I'm not diagnosing him of course. I'm not qualified at all nor have I even met the man. But I don't even know that outside of a court appearance he's even acknowledged this tragedy. Has even once come out and said I'm sorry a human being was killed by a car I was in?

I think the main reason, if not the only reason, for his charity work is PR. And it surely has worked. Today he's one of the biggest superstars of the industry and lives a comfortable rich life because the public's adulation for him.

What is really aggravating in all of this is this underlying message from him and his supporters that the life that was lost just wasn't valuable enough. Or that it happened so long ago that it should be forgotten. To be fair the Indian judicial system's snail pace had contributed a great deal to this and it ironically has given him ample time to work on his PR. But, Every time his mother or father or sisters or brothers see him and have a good time with him that dead person's family doesn't.

We haven't even started talking about the officer who was a witness and refused to lie and died a miserable lonely death because of this case.

What I don't get is the rest of the industry's love for him. That will always baffle me.

Couldn't agree more! Salman is guilty as sin. Why do you think he is constantly sucking up to Modi and Pranab Mukherjee? that's because he does not want to end up behind bars DUH.

also drinking and a driving is a criminal offense but of course Salman gets away with murder because of his powerful connections 🥱

I am sure you guys are not aware of this poor girl's heartbreaking story...She was a victim of a drunk driver 😭

No it wasn't an accident ...it was manslaughter...a manslaughter is where a person is killed because of someone's negligence/carelessness...Salman was driving drunk that night...it was against the law...the laws are their for a reason...Drinking IMPAIRS ur judgement...and that is exactly what happened...No one believes that he intended to kill anyone that day...but a but a person got killed because of his negligence...

Having said that...i do believe that he regrets killing that person...only an evil person will not feel any regret...Salman may be a lot of other things but I don't believe he is evil...and ya of course he will try save himself from going to jail...but that has got nothing to do with regret...a lot of times people have regret for their wrongdoings...but don't want to take the punishment for it or want to avoid acknowledging it publicly...

"It was just an accident" - wonder if people saying this will react in the same way if was one's own family/friends in place of the victim here.

He was totally in an inebriated condition. There was his driver and a constable along with him too in the car. The constable kept asking him to stop driving, but no he wouldnt relent, he was speeding at 120 kmph on Mumbai roads.

Just an accident my ass.

If he regrets anything, it would be the fact that he has gotten himself into serious trouble, not for killing a person. If he had the remorse of killing a person, he wouldn't have indirectly murdered Ravindra Patil, the young, honest and upright constable who refused to lie for him.

You are right but manslaughter itself is divided his was involuntary manslaughter, did he go out intending to cause a harm that night? No. For the posters saying he is a killer and doesn't regret his actions are just getting their hatred for the man cloud their judgement. And as I pointed out in my first post, he should be punished for driving under the influence that I don't think anyone can argue.

At least we know some of us know for a fact he doesnt regret.
I don't know him personally therefore i can't say if he does/doesn't regret..

But I know this much accident don't make someone a killer..
He shld be punished for driving under the influence..
Other than that it was an accident, it cld've happened with anyone.
It happens with someone or the other all over the world everyday..

People saying wld you still say the same if the victimwas your family member.
Will you still say the same if the blamed one was your family member??
will you demand him/her to be punished for murder??
Will you go around and call them a killer??

Two things. First you saying it was an accident and it could have happened to anyone, and that it happens to someone somewhere out in the world. If one doesn't drive drunk they can very easily avoid it happening to them. So I completely disagree that it could have happened to anyone. It wasn't an accident in a sense of it being completely unavoidable. It happened as a direct consequence of decision that Salman Khan made that night to drink and drive. As for it happening to someone somewhere everyday, I think this undermines the tragedy of the situation. A lot of things happen everyday. Robbery, murder, rape, child abuse. The frequency of a crime cannot decrease it's seriousness or validity of it being a crime.

Second thing regarding your question of how would I react if my family member drove drunk and killed someone because of it. As his or her loved one I would hope or pray for a miracle so he won't go to jail. Would I be right or fair to the victim, the family of the victim or my society in general? A big fat NO!!! I would also like to think that I would have enough humanity in me to acknowledge that my loved one caused the end of another human life due to his or her own stupidity and selfishness and won't act as if nothing happened. But for the record, every time I go out either with friends or family a designated driver is decided on before we even go out and that person has never faulted and taken even a sip of anything alcoholic.
