MAMR TEASER:

Actor Barun Sobti (left) might be new in Bollywood but the 30-year-old's confidence will suprise you. Neither does he regret not being a star kid, nor does he believe in prolonging his praying hours just because his debut film is about to hit theatres, next month. We caught up with the Delhi-boy, who became a rage on the small screen, till he took the big leap, two years back. Excerpts:

 Do you feel you have shut those critics up who've been saying that you quit TV, and your film isn't even releasing? 

Firstly, I have no idea who these people are, but it's fine whatever floats their boat. Its a democracy, people can say whatever they want.. with all due respect, I don't want to shut anybody up. I just believe in doing my own job. 

Being a star kid sometimes ensures easy entry into films. Do you regret not being one?

Just the other day I was having a discussion with my maternal uncle,and he was telling me, you might just break through if you have some connection but without talent, you won't go anywhere'. So, I think that sums it up. 

Siddhivinayak temple or Ajmer Sharif " where are you going to pray before the release of your film, as is the norm with actors these days?

 I'm smart enough to not question God's smartness (laughs). I respect God and I don't need to bribe him. 

Was joining Twitter a publicity stunt for your film?

 No. I just thought it was high time. Social media can sometimes be mean. Are you ready for cricticisms, too? I was prepared for that the day I decided to become an actor... I put myself on a pedestal where I knew people would judge me.
