...otherwise known as 'How Vikram Wiped the Floor with Tarun and Samarth.'
Revenge is sweet, and when we've been waiting for it this long, it's delicious. 😃 For all his vendetta against Shobha, for every slight, every smug smirk, every sly smile, for his breath-taking blackmail, for his callous conspiracies, Tarun finally got a taste of his own medicine. And for his dastardly desertion of Shobha, his bloody-minded betrayal, his slimy self-interest, Samarth finally got his just desserts.
Without any fanfare, barring a minor scuffle, Vikram took to the stand and overturned the defence's case and ensured that justice was done for Shobha. That Shobha, who'd yet again been let down, devastatingly so, by the man who claimed to be her husband and demanded her endless loyalty as his wife. That Shobha who'd yet again hoped against hope that he'd finally think of her, and had her hopes dashed, and rightly so. Hopefully, with this final betrayal, Shobha will finally set light to the pyre of any residual feelings for Samarth.
Back to Vikram, the hero of the hour. Superman. Shobha's saviour. The upholder of right. What an absolutely brilliant job! No fuss, just worked all night until he found a solution. Then turned up in court, at the right time, guessing that the judge was about to pronounce a verdict in Samarth's favour, 😉 and at the eleventh hour, reversed it. With proof. And in doing so did what every one of us had been longing for him to...wiped the smile off Tarun and Samarth's faces.
There they sat, the smug, evil ones, thinking themselves above the law and already home while Shobha languished in jail paying for their crimes, for their intimidation. The shock had to have been absolute. 😃 Not only was Samarth's appeal rejected, and he returned to his bed-bug infested, endless incarceration, but Tarun, evil, selfish, immoral, conniving, wife-beating, woman-hating Tarun, was finally punished for punching (figuratively) Shobha when she was down. For crushing her and for his calculated cruelty and perverse pleasure in prolonging her pain by letting her stay in prison in place of Samarth.
It must have been a new feeling for both men to know what it feels like to be made to pay for their crimes. I hope they experience it again and again, and this time at the hands of a thinking, deliberate Shobha.
What a brilliant episode today! Deeply satisfying. Convincing acting everywhere, without getting too maudlin, and a cracking pace. For me, this was the victory of good over evil. And so of course I celebrate.
