It is not even Pragya the
betrayed wife hugging her
torturer (ex?) husband Abhi. This is a distraught daughter who is thanking a person who helped and saved her mother's life. If anything, Pragya does have some connection to Abhi living with him all this while. And it's the same connection because of which he comes to the hospital and helps her too, although he believes she just destroyed his family's happiness. This is just a moment where Abhi's humanity has come out and Pragya is acknowledging it. This is to show both of them are beyond the hatred and MUs that exist between them. And Pragya knows Abhi and his motivations to hurt her and also knows how he raised beyond that to help her. She doesn't have huge grudges over him!
Also, it's not about a man, woman, shoulder, self respect thing. It's two human beings who are looking beyond hate and prejudice in a moment of pain.

That is Pragya. She doesn't really hold grudge. And neither did Abhi. He was under the impression that she is someone who betrayed his family yet helped her and hugged her back. It's because after spending some time time with someone, no matter how horrible they are, it's normal to care for hem. She is grieving for her mom, and there's is this guy who helped her. I don't think there's anything looking a shoulder to lie on when you desperately needed it. It was out of gratefulness. They weren't even thinking about their problems and misunderstanding. It was a genuine hug. And that's why people are rooting for that hug, at least I am.
