CHAPTER 34. KIDNAPPED!

   "Jiji! Aap paagal hogayi ho kya?", Rajji asked as she looked at her elder sister.

Geet shared a glance with Khushi and then smiled at Rajji, "Rajji! Apni behen pe bharosa rakh!"

"Nahi!", Rajji cried out, "Aisi baat nahi hai! Aap samajh nahi rahi ho!"

Geet huffed, "Achcha! Mujhe chod! Tujhe tere Maan Jijaji pe bharosa nahi hai!"

"Haan Rajji!", Khushi spoke up, "Kya tujhe yakeen nahi hai ki Maan Veerji Bhabhi ko safe rakh paayenge?"

Rajji was speechless and looked at Maan in worry. When Maan nodded at her, Rajji gave up, "Theek hai! Jaao tussi log mandir! Par ek ghante mein waapis nahi aaye na, toh main... toh main... Toh main ro dungi!"

"Aww!", Geet mumbled as she pulled her sister close and hugged her tightly. Rajji hugged her back.

   It was early morning of the wedding day and Geet and Khushi were going to Mandir to ask for Devi Ma's aashirwad. After Dev's attack, they felt prudent to take Ma's blessings.

      Geet and Khushi reached the mandir and stepped out of the car. They shared another glance and walked towards the mandir. Dressed in gorgeous lehenga with jewelry that made them look like princesses the brides of MSK and ASR walked into the mandir with pooja ki thaal in their hands. In half hour, they were done with archana on their future husband's names and then both started with the parikrama.

  As Geet and Khushi walked, Geet sensed someone observing her. She looked behind but there was no one except some body guards who were following them on distance. With shiver running through her body, she grabbed Khushi's hand and when Khushi looked at her, Geet managed to convey her fear with one look. Khushi gave her a look of reassurance as they walked ahead.  They continued to do the parikrama another two times before Geet sensed the same feeling again but before she could warn Khushi someone covered her mouth from behind. Her eyes widened and she started to claw the hand around her mouth. But before she could do anything else, she was lifted up and dragged off. She could see the same thing happening to Khushi when a black cloth was put over Geet's head. The last she saw before black bag obscured the view was Khushi's eyes looking at her in panic as hooded men lifted her while putting black cloth on her head too.

    The black bags were removed from their heads and both Khushi and Geet found themselves in a van which seemed to be on the move. They had their hands and legs tied up and both had gunmen pointing gun at them. They looked at each other fearfully and then looked back at the men in front of them. Before they could open their mouth to scream or ask them questions, two other men from behind tied their mouth too. Both looked at each other with horror. Their make up running down their faces, their eyes wide with fear, their hair askew, their lehenga all wrinkled due to the rough handling by the men, both were terrible sight to behold.

   The van continued to move as both girls looked around but the van's window screens were covered with black curtains and they now knew they had no hope to reach out and ask for help! The van drove on as the morning turned into mid morning. Both girls wondered whether Arnav and Maan were as worried and scared as them. As they wished their lovers were there with them the van entered the Punjab and moved towards Hoshiarpur.

    It was almost evening when they reached Hoshiarpur. Both girls were pulled out of the vans and looked up to see an old haveli in front of them. For Khushi it might be a new place, but for Geet it was a place of horror. She looked at the Haveli with pain and dread. It was the place of her nightmares. It was the Khurana kothi where Dev had locked her up with Rajji after killing her parents. It was the place from which she ran and met Maan on the way. She was back to the one place that destroyed her happiness. No! Not just hers! Maan was also almost killed here by Pammi when he was a kid! This was the place where Maan and her lives were destroyed. She looked at the building with dull and pain filled eyes.

    The goons holding the girls pushed them forward and they were taken into the Kothi. Their legs had been untied and they stumbled forward as the circulation suddenly returned to their legs. The Haveli had a big courtyard in the centre of the building with the pathways around it leading to the rooms and upper floors. Silence reigned the house as everyone in the house, the servants, the goons and the family relatives froze to see the spectacle in front of them. And right in the middle of this open air courtyard was a throne like chair on which Dev sat.

   Dev smiled at the girls. His smile was filled with evil and Khushi looked away. Geet glared at him with hatred shining through her eyes. "Meri Geetto! Dekh! Le aaya tereko main yahaan! Kiya na mera waada pura!"

   The cloth was removed from Geet's mouth and she glared at him, "Tu ne tera waada poora kar diya Dev! Ab mere waade ki baari! Waada kiya tha maine apne aapse ki tujhe barbaad karke dum lungi! Aaj mera waada poora hoga!"

   Dev let out a loud wicked laugh, "Waah Geet! Waah! Wahi josh! Wahi aag! Babaji di sau tujhe todne mein bahut mazaa aayega! Shaadi ho jaane de! Phir tujhe dikhaata hun Dev Khurana kya cheez hai! Aur yeh mera waada hai!"

 Geet smirked, "Tu mujhe haath toh lagaake dekh! Tujh par keher na barsaaya toh main Maan ki Geet nahi!"

"Haan! Maan!", Dev sneered, "Kitthe hai tera Maan? Tu toh yahaan akeli hai! Nahi nahi! Akeli kahaan? Saath mein yeh kudi bhi toh hai!"

 Khushi looked at Dev just as Dev got up and walked up to the girls. He grabbed Geet by her hair and pulled her close, "Pehle main tere se shaadi karunga! Aur phir?", he pushed Geet away and neared Khushi, "Phir tujhe maarunga!"

Khushi's eyes glared at him. Dev seemed amused by this!

   "Chalo Bhaiyiyon! Twadde Veer di shaddi hai! Eh Geet de naal! Toh chalo! Mandap lagaao! Pandit bulaao! Logon ko bulaao! Gaane wane bajwaao! DEV KHURANA DI SHADDI HAI!", Dev shouted and suddenly, the noise level rose and people started running around in excitement.

  Dev glared at the girls and with smug smile on his face he ordered, "Le jaao dono ko! Daal toh kisi kaale kothri mein! Shaadi tak inhein baahar nahi laana hai! Aur haan, aise kamre mein rakho jahaan se yeh dono khidki mein se bhaag na jaayein! Khidki se bhaagne ka bahut shauk hai iss Geet Handa nu!", Dev snarled as both the girls were dragged away to their rooms. As the girls passed by him, they glared at him but Dev just smiled and his cold eyes followed their movements till they vanished from his sight.

   Both girls were thrown into a dark room with only one window. The goons of Dev locked the room from outside and both the girls stood. They headed to the one window from where light was coming. Both were disappointed to see it covered with mesh. They could see out through the mesh though and both pressed their face to it to see outside. The outside view disappointed them too as the window looked right into the courtyard where mandap was being set up. Dev who sat nearby with men messaging his hands and legs looked up and seeing them waved his hand at him. Both girls stepped back not wanting to see the man ever again. Both turned and slid down. Sitting down they looked at each other.

"Ab kya hoga Bhabhi?", Khushi whispered fearfully.

"Dar mat Khushi! Yeh humaara kuch nahi bigaad sakta!", Geet whispered firmly. Khushi noticed the firm expression on Geet's face and nodded.

"Lekin agar aaj shaam ko Ma...", Khushi spoke but Geet cut her off, "Nahi! Sochna bhi mat! Aaj shaam ko aisa kuch nahi hoga jo Dev chaahta hai!"

Khushi remained silent but slowly leaned on to Geet's shoulder. Geet smiled sadly, "Don't worry Khushi! Babaji pe bharosa rakh! Devi Maiyya pe bharosa rakh! Aur jab Bhagwan bhi kaam na aaye toh Maan aur Arnav pe bharosa rakh! Woh humein bacha lenge!"

The singers and musicians had arrived for the wedding and started singing and dancing.

"Arnavji! Jaldi aayiye please!", Khushi whispered as a tear slid down her cheek.

Mahiya...

"Woh aayenge na Bhabhi?" Khushi asked tearfully.

Geet nodded, her face so emotionless that it looked carved out of stone, "Unhein aana hoga!"

"Phir ab tak kyun nahi aaye?", Khushi asked worriedly.

"Kahin phas gaye honge! Aa jaayenge!", Geet muttered.

Khushi looked at Geet wondering how she could be so calm at such a moment. But Khushi did not know that Geet was reliving the moments of her family's death the moment she reached Hoshiarpur and only way to avoid them was to stop feeling and lock her emotions away.

Khushi stood up to look outside looking for any sign that Arnav had arrived.

Neither girls knew somewhere in the same town some villagers were beaten and thrashed as Maan and Arnav fought their way to reach their lady loves.

"Agar woh waqt pe nahi aaye toh?", Khushi wondered as she looked outside.

Geet stood up and looked out at the havan kund that had just lit up, "Agar nahi aaye! Toh uss havan kund mein hi koodkar jaan de dungi! Par Dev ki patni kabhi nahi banungi!"

Khushi took in sharp breath but kept her eyes trained on the courtyard for one glimpse of her brother or her fianc.

As the singer took a breather, the noise of gun fire startled everyone.

"Yeh kya tha?", Dev whispered.

When no one replied, he shouted, "YEH KYA THA? MAIN KUCH POOCHRIYAAN HOON! JAWAAB DO!"

  One man came running in from outside, "Dev Bhaiji! Dev Bhaiji! Haveli ko chaaron taraf se gher liya gaya hai! Kehte hain ki Khushi aur Geet ko chodo warna sabko maar daalenge!"

Dev looked worried, "Kya bol raha hai tu? Aise kaise gher liya? Humaare aadmi kitthe mar gaye?"

"Mar gaye Bhaiji! Sabko unlogon ne maar diya!", the man blurted out.

"Kaun hai? KAUN HAI YEH LOG JISNE DEV KO LALKAARA HAI?", Dev shouted angrily.

"TERI MAUT HAI!", came Geet's voice and Dev looked up to see Geet smirked at him victoriously.

"JA DEV! JAAKE BAAHAR DEKH! TERI MAUT KHADI HAI WAHAAN! TERI BARBAADI KI SHURUVAAT USS DIN HUI JAB TU NE KHUSHI KO MAARNE KI KOSHISH KI! USS DIN SE KHUSHI KA BHAI AUR USKA PREMI TERE KHOON KE PYAASE HAIN! AUR AAJ TERA ANTH AA CHUKA HAI! NAHI CHODENGE TUJHE WOH DONO! AUR TAB YEH GEET TERI BARBAADI APNE AANKHON SE DEKHEGI!"

"NAAAIII", Dev roared. He surged forward and grabbed another minion's collar, "Unhein kaise pata chala main yahaan hun? Khurana Haveli mein Geet aur Khushi ko rakha hai use kaise pata chala? Bol!"

In the dark room, Geet and Khushi smiled as their eyes went to the tracker attached to their pallu pins. As they stared at the milieu in front of them, Khushi smiled, "Aap sahi thi Bhabhi! Yeh plan work kar gaya!"

"Plan toh work karna hi tha!", Geet proudly replied as both smugly glanced at each other and then back below where pandemonium had struck.

"Aagaye hain dono Sher!", Geet spoke with twinkle in her eyes.

"Aur ab Dev ki khair nahi!", Khushi replied with vindictiveness on her face.

So folks, how was that for a dhamakedaar update!
