Hi Guys,
I was watching the episode aired Aug 7, 2014 and I have a few thoughts to share. I know that this is a fictitious TV show that too a hindi soap and I really shouldn't be reading much into it. However I couldn't get past the thoughts I was having and wanted to share them here. I hope this doesn't hurt or offend anyone's sentiments.
I find Avni and Raj's relationship a bit unrealistic - if they want to show innocent love/puppy love that kind of stuff then I can tolerate the overly sweet conversations and interactions. However the CVs are mixing sweet innocent "love" with marriage.
I've never lived in Jaipur so I don't know what the norms of dating culture are so maybe that's why it's harder for me to relate. What I do understand about romantic relationships is that they are far removed from what Im seeing on screen. In my experience relationships are not so smooth - of course there is an initial interest/attraction - once you realize feelings are mutual you get to know each other - you spend time - find out about their values/morals what they respectively want from life, what kind of a lifestyle they would like to have. what they want to do for a living. I dont see Avni or Raj exploring any of that. Another thing you try to figure out in your dating phase is if you are compatible with one another or not - are we to assume they've already figured out they are compatible?
The other aspect of relationships we see is - getting too serious too soon. Avni and Raj are both very young - granted Raj is smart and hard working and talented - he has his BIL business to help in, his father has a cement business - great - he mentioned that he wanted to open a chain of hotels as well - is he done with his educational credentials? For that sort of specialized business - are there any programs perhaps outside of Jaipur that would help him progress in that field?
What about Avni? Is her sole focus to be a wife/daughter in law/mother? While there is nothing wrong with that if that's what she wants for herself - I feel like she's getting sucked up into this whole fantasy/romance with Raj and fairytale wedding dreaming to even think about doing something else with her life - pursuing other interests/developing talents etc.
Guys don't get me wrong here - I have nothing against Avni or Raj or even the candy-floss romance that CVs are showing - if that happened in real life - if there were more guys like Raj in reality the world would be a MUCH better place. However the reality is guys like Raj are extremely rare I'd be inclined to say they don't exist but I haven't met every single indian boy of Raj's age to confidently say they don't exist so I'll just say he sounds too good to be true.
From an entertainment stand-point it is refreshing to see an innocent love story - it almost reminds me of Maine Pyar Kiya - sweet innocent love that runs deep.
From the stand point of believeability or being able to relate or even this being a reflection of real life - I'm unable to do so.
Perhaps CVs are focusing on all the sweetness now and then the conflicts will arise later when they will face moral dilemmas if Raj or Avni have to prioritize different things in their life and their love/relationship drops on the priority list - that would be interesting to see how they handle those curve balls and if that breaks them or brings them closer.
One thing I will say is that I feel Raj's feelings for Avni are more sincere or stronger as Avni is quick to judge or distrust Raj - she's proved that when it came to the short dress/dupatta mix up and recently when Raj had to be a witness and testify against Abhaas for the college scandal. Perhaps CVs can focus on Avni coming of age and understanding a) Raj always means well and is honest b) it's not healthy to place all your happiness in someone else's hands.
What say guys?
