MUMBAI: 'Abhi Mujh Main Kahin' singer Sonu Nigam is extremely happy about his latest track that will be featured in the Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapoor starrer- 'Daawat-e-Ishq'. So far, the songs he has recorded have been redubbed and have been sung by other singers.

When questioned about why India cannot produce a musician as famous as Justin Bieber he said, "In India as long as you have Bollywood, music cannot grow. If the song does well, the film is given the due credits, but not a singer or a composer or a lyricist. Whilst abroad, people are excited when it comes to albums by a Justin Bieber or a Miley Cyrus. Indian music can never get its due credit till the time you have people only listening to Bollywood."

Talking to Radioandmusic.com about the story behind the song he said, "When I went to record the song to Yash Raj Studios, the director Habib Faisalji narrated the story to me and he mainly spoke about the male protagonist who hails from Lucknow. While narrating this he spoke about the food and the 'kebabs', I actually forgot about the song and rather concentrated on the 'kebabs'. I told Wajidbhai that I shall record the song only after eating the 'kebabs' so all of us went to a restaurant and munched on some delicious food from Lucknow and in particular 'kebabs'."

The song was recorded on the following day. "Whenever someone talks about the song 'Mannat' the only thing that comes to my mind is Lucknowi food," chuckled the 40 year old.

The music of the film 'Daawat-E- Ishq' is composed by duo Sajid Wajid and is all set to hit the theaters on 5 September, 2014.

Now this is true. Bollywood ate indi-pop era. That needs to revive. So many good songs from that era. I don't know why both cannot coexist.

Exactly all those Falguni Patak , Alisha Chniow albums even Sonu Nigam private albums were huge hit in pop industry Dewewana album out done all pop charts said by T Sereis Bhusan kumar back in the time ..." Sonu Nigam's "Deewana" met with unparalleled success It has broken records in pop-history! It outsold Alisha's "Made In India" and Daler Mehndi's "Bolo Tarara"

He is right..and it is disappointing..Its all about the Actor and the actress and the glam sham around the movie now..the standard of music in bollywood movies has deteriorated immensely..Half of the times I dont even know who is singing when I am listening to a new song..Singers have no idenity of their own now..Rubbish lyrics and the introduction of technologies to improve the voices of the singers is bringing the quality down even more..

I miss those pop album days.

Palash Sen, Sonu Nigam, Bali Sagoo.. I have grew up with albums. and they used to have best short videos too with catchy lyrics, some melodious slow songs. some peppy songs.

I wonder how suddenly in 2000's they all disappeared. 😕

arre ghanta true dexy..I like sonu nigam a lot and went to his concert this year but abhi kuchh zyaada hi bol raha hai..he was dying to enter bollywood as a hero tab bhool gaya thha kya.kaash aap hamare hote😛If he had become a successful actor,I don't think he would make this statement.

he is not in favour of filmi music scene since long time , i remember him saying to rahul vadiya and abhijeet sawant in 2007 tv show competition ke " Main chata hoon hamare desh ke singers filmoon ke ganoon se popular na hoon balke private albums se popular hoon sirf playback singing aim mat banana please humare desh main music ko independent hona bhout zaroori hai "...Sonu Nigam was first a Indi Pop singer then become a successful playback singer:D and its true hona bhi aisa chiaya playback singers dont get their due they are treated like animals in Film Industry... ..bollywood actors like amir khan ,salman khan claim that they are the reason for a hit song not singers and musicians 🤢... and ya becoming actor is different then playback singing atleast he had sang his song by himself in kash ap hamare hote too so as long as its his own voice on him it doesnt matter

i love all albums of Sonu Nigam ,Jaan, Yaad, Kismat, Mausam, Dewana superb work by him as Indipop artist

Ab mujhe raat din tumhara hi khayal hai
Tu kab yeh janegee
mohabbat kabhi maine ki toh nahi thi etc ❤️

I am not denying that he is a great singer.in fact music is his life.but now that he is hurt,he is coming out with all these negative statements.he should maybe concentrate on a new private album instead.His 'abhi mujh mein kahi' is total music for the soul.One of the best songs ever in bollywood 😳

Did you see the video of his interview.he is literally in tears when he talks about that brat Bhushan Kumar😡
