Oh yeah and Singham was a good watch. With masala films we can, well I can, watch them over and over and not get bored.

I honestly couldn't get passed the first 5 mins of Lootera.

Anyways. To be honest I loved them when I was younger but as I grew up I started to hate them. Same being said I can not watch these very serious movies like Ek VIllian, Highway, Lootera. I need to have a break with a comedy movie

I can watch serious films, e.g Highway and EV may be serious but they do have entertainment value added to it. I love films like EV etc.

A film like Lootera is too boring IMO.

Films are mainly made for entertainment and nothing else

I think that's quite a parochial way of viewing things and segregating films. I find some "art movies" just as entertaining as the masala movies. I enjoyed watching Andaz Apna Apna Hera Pheri just as much as I enjoyed watching Lootera and Dhobi Ghat. It should be left up to individual people as to what they consider entertaining. I find all genres entertaining if they resonate with me.

I'm not saying that everyone should find Dhobi Ghat etc boring. I'm just voicing my opinion. I didn't mean to generalise at all. Masala films are essentially more entertaining for the majority of the public, hence why they make so much money when compared to an art film.

One cannot love Bollywood and turn up their nose at masala movies. One cannot like Salman Khan and turn up their nose at masala movies. As both these criteria apply to me, though I do make a big stink about acting, the truth is I enjoy masala movies too. I grew up on them, why shouldn't I ?

I am of South Indian descent and grew up around people who predominantly see only non-Hindi movies, but 'kitne admi the' is a famous dialog few who have seen BW masala movies would not recognize. That is the power of a Sholay, a great masala movie.

CE, Rowdy Rathore, Singh is King, Dhoom 3 are crap for me. I would not call movies like ETT , Don, the Agneepath remake, Dhoom 2 crap I grew up on Sholay, Tridev, Agneepath, Teezab, Parinda in Hindi and a whole bunch of good masala movies in Tamil and Telugu belonging to Nagarjuna, Kamal Hassan, heck even Thalaiva. I enjoyed them and still enjoy them. But their heroines were not flower pot and they did not take broad license in demeaning a culture (like CE did for me).

Crap is crap, masala or an intellectual film. You can wrap shit up in newspaper or dip it in gold, shit is shit. Everyone has their definition of quality and for me some films, even those of my favorite actors fail to make the cut, masala or not.

I think you should see a therapist if you enjoy these crappy movies. I would rather watch a intelligent Hollywood film. 🤣😈

I like masala but not the Ready, CE kind. CE is crap even as a Rohit Shetty film. I enjoyed Singham and Golmaal series more. Akshay's Mohra is one of the best masala movies ever. But Rowdy Rathore is gimmicky. Dabangg is the only modern masala film of Salman which is likeable. Even D2. But Ready types are mere gimmicks.
Masala is not bad. Has been one of the most entertaining genres to watch. But treatment and performances matter. I love most masala films till mid 2000s. The ones made in recent years are more spoof types except Dabangg and Singham.

⭐️ i know right. The amount of times i have seen masala films bashed on this forum has surprised me. If your a true bollywood lover then you cannot despise masala films. Bollywood strives on these type of films, always has done and i think always will do.
