Okay, some things I am not able to understand contextually, so I request forum members to please help me. I understand the Hindi language and the show fully, so that is not the issue, just that I am having some holes in the context.
1. The concept of multiple wives is already there in Rajput customs so why doesn't anyone suggest that pratap marry both? Phool for political purposes and ajabde for love?
My understanding from reading some history on the Internet is that Uday Singh married jaivanta bai and sajjabai for political purposes and dheer bai for love. He also had15 other wives who have been shown only once last year when the palace was surrounded by afghans and jaivanta gave them all a big lecture about protecting their honour as the wives of rana Uday Singh.

2. Continuing that thread forward, why not marry ALL the princesses in the palace who have come to visit? And two of them are princesses of Gwalior and Ajmer which are even bigger states than marwar. So would it not make more sense to marry one of them rather than phool if the goal is to create a strong rajputana?

3. Why is marriage the only way to build a political alliance? Cant Uday Singh just mend fences with the king of marwar through diplomatic channels? In any case dheer bai jis sister is married ther so they already have one marriage already in place to build a relationship. If that relationship is not sufficient enough to build a relationship then what extra could a second marriage between the two families of marwar and mewar really accomplish?

4. I am yet to figure out how Rao Mamrakh had the audacity to send phool s proposal to Uday Singh without even consulting phools parents or grandparents. I find it stunning that he would do so when he is not authorised to do so and it is not his role or place. On top of which he is an ordinary Samant can he really step over the ruler of marwar s head and do this? Particularly when he knows of enmity between marwar and mewar. I feel this is hugely crossing the line.

5. This then leads me to my next question ... How can Rao Mamrakh have friendly relations with marwar to the extent that their daughters are friends and to the extent of being so bold to propose phools name without even consulting the marwar king, when he is a Samant of mewar?

My assumption is that when the rulers of two kingdoms are at war, then the underling samants also have to keep their distance from the enemy rulers in allegiance to their own rulers? It would be ridiculous for two army chiefs to be best buddies when the heads of their countries are on opposite sides. I suppose a broad minded approach would allow for this relationship in modern times, but it seems really odd in the context of the orthodox traditions of rajputana in that day and age where there strict concepts of loyalty and allegiance.

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to reply!

Hi Tinoo, I am new to India Forums. I have wondered the same things myself but as some of the members rightly pointed out to me- when watching these shows- keep your brains aside or you will lose your marbles connecting facts to the fiction shown 😆 (heres the link to that post: http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=4042078&TPN=5 )

I HAD WONDERED THE SAME THING WHEN THIS WHOLE MARRIAGE DEBATE BEGAN... BUT I HAD ONLY 1 DOUBT - MAYBE KINGS WERE ALLOWED TO INDULGE IN POLYGAMY, NOT THE PRINCES. WHICH THEN GIVES RISE TO THE QUESTION THAT HOW COME PRATAP DOES IT FEW YEARS DOWN THE LINE FOR POLITICAL ALLIANCES... SO NOT SURE.
BUT IF PRINCES ARE ALLOWED TOO WHY SUCH A HUE AND CRY!

WE DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS TRACK EXCEPT TO CREATE DRAMA.
ALSO HOW CAN THEY UNDERESTIMATE THE PIRATE 'DADABHAI' - WOULDNT HE HAVE INFORMED RAO MARWAR ABOUT TRUANT FOOL SITTING IN MEWAR FOR KUNWAR PRATAPS' SWAYAMWAR A LONG TIME BACK. ALL THE OTHER RAJPUT QUEENS WHO ARE THERE DO KNOW OF THE ENIMITY TOO- WUDNT THEY HAVE SENT SANDESHAS TO MARWAR (OUT OF ENVY OR FOR THE SHEER FUN OF IT) LONG TIME BACK!!!!! ?

THIS POINT WAS BROUGHT UP BY INDIA OPINES TOO (http://indiaopines.com/mystery-maharana-pratap-ajabde-phool-kanwar-ends/ )

But I cite it again- Like the wise members of India Forum said to me- dont worry too much about reality checks because CVs entertainment ke liye kuch bhi karega!!!!! 😲
