Raghavan and Rathi happily married couple. Raghvan's family - parents, one younger brother and one younger sister all love Rathi. Rathi's job transferred to her home town. Raghavan family not happy but agree. Rathi packs and leaves. Raghavan goes along to drop her.
But the duo land up at the family court. The judge questions the duo and grant divorce 😲. Raghavan isn't OK with it though. Outside the court, Rathi, a typical DIL, gives a list of pending works and routine works to be taken care of. She asks Raghavan to marry another suitable girl. He too wishes her the same. Rathi boards an auto and waives a bye. Both of them wail inconsolably unknown to each other.

Rathi comes to her mom's home at Kumbakonam. Her parents are wondering why Raghavan did not come. Rathi who stopped eating non-veg after marriage asks her amma to cook chicken. Parents are surprised.
Ragz and Rathi miss each other. Ragz sees a neighbour guy and boils in anger.
Raghavan sister ponnu parka varanga. Parents want their DIL to be around. Rags calls Rathi. She refuses to come.
Rathi accidentally hits on a newcomer to the city. He playfully irritates rathi and walks off. Rathi spots another guy on bike and both of stare at each other.
Elango is the guy Rathi bumped into. He is a bachelor, works in Rathi's office and flirts all time.
Lingam is Rag's neigbour. Ragz parents are doing pickle business and Lingam is a potential customer. Rag's amma tells Lingam about Rathi moving to another city coz of work. Rags barges and yells don't share personal details with customers.
Rag's sister calls Rathi and says I will not see the mappilai if you aren't coming for the event. Rathi recollects the past when the same SIL refused to stay in Rag's home if Rathi (i.e Rag's kathal manaivi) is around. Rathi says aught with work, cannot make it for the event and promises to be around during the marriage. SIL agrees and hangs up.
Elango on house hunt. Rathi misunderstands that he is following her and bashes him. He explains the fact and Rathi walks off.
Lingam meets Rags on the road and Rags as usual yells at him. Lingam wonders why Ragz is angry on him. Lingam's friend identifies Rag's and narrates some incident in mute to Lingam.
Elango finds a rented home. polambufies to Rathi about the house being a dokku house and owner a boring oldie who is charging Rs.3000/- which is very exhorbitant. Next morning Elango walks in and is shocked to see Rathi there. Well it is Rathi's father who he spoke about earlier. Rathi warns him to hold his tongue and hands over the keys of his portion.
Rags misses Rathi. He calls her and cries miserably. Though Rathi gets emotional. She controls her self, consoles Rags and hangs up. Lingam comes to Ragz home. Ragz boils. No one around. Sister opts to deliver the order to Lingam. Ragz barks at her and says business dealings will be done by parents only. Lingam walks off.
Ragz driving. Lingam's friend forcibly takes lift. en-route he asks Ragz to buy a car since he has a family and if it rains they need to take shelter and if his wife will stands drenched it won't look nice. A startled Ragz stops the bike and looks at that guy. That guy hops off and walks away.
Mappilai goshti arrives at Ragz home. Ponnu walks into the sabai. Mappilai wants to talk privately to the girl. Girl is shocked.
The boy gives green signal. SIL has a quick chat with her anni Rathi. Ragz family missing Rathi. MIL wants to proceed only after discussing with Rathi in person. Rathi asks Ragz to share the truth ASAP.
Lingam is found hanging. Ragz mom is shaken but Ragz not bothered. Rathi is disturbed with this news. She calls Ragz and gets to know that suicide coz of fight with his wife. The biker guy who Rathi earlier saw and was shocked, eavesdrops the convo and stares.
Elango gets to know that Rathi is divorced and flirts high time.
Aparna (Ragz sister) reads the divorce copy of Ragz rathi and runs to update her mom. Ragz stops her.
Ragz convinces Aparna to withhold the secret if she wants Rathi to attend Aparna's marriage. Aprana nods and questions the reason for divorce. Ragz refuses to divulge the same.
Ragz too is transferred to same office as Rathi. Elango buys a second hand bike. Rathi's mom is irked with his flirty behaviour.
