Okay maybe I am reading too much into everything but I just need to talk about this and well.. please bear with me okay?
I re-watched Anshuman and Paakhi's scenes from Thursday and just... *sigh* What a beautiful scene! <3
I love how the whole thing starts with Anshuman falling on his own and Paakhi hearing him before rushing to check on him. Even that brief moment in the morning and the perfectly normal conversation that followed with Paakhi paying an honest compliment to Tanya and Anshuman noticing it... They might say painful or hurtful things to each other, question what they have and distance themselves from it but this... this is something that Tanya cannot take away from them. Somehow, beyond all the complexity and pain they manage to find a place that is entirely their own. A place where they care for each other, need each other and ultimately love each other. Come what may, that place refuses to diminish.
I loved the moments of pure abandon and laughter in the bathroom. How they are torn between annoyance at each other and at the situation at hand yet still recognizing the hilarity of it was shown so wonderfully. In the beginning it would mostly be Paakhi who would somehow end up laughing in the middle of a fight, now its Anshuman as well. That's the kind of light they bring into each other's lives.
Then ofcourse Anshuman's demons intervene and the moment is gone. He tells her he can get up on his own and Paakhi despite feeling just a tad bit hurt, let's go. Notice how it was Paakhi who loosened the grip she had on his hand first. He insists again and again on not wanting to be with her and being unable to love her but ultimately Anshuman always holds on tight. It is against the basic grain of his nature to let her go. Paakhi is different; she is strong enough to accept that she won't be a part of Anshuman's life forever. She still loves him but she understands that she cannot own Anshuman and has always set him free.
It's an irony in itself you know? The more she lets go of him, the faster he holds on. It's almost as if by choosing to give him his freedom, she essentially traps him deeper into her love.
So they try and they fail to get up without each other, amidst a few glares from Paakhi.đ Ultimately however, they do become each other's support.. She leans on him to get up and he reaches out for her hand to do the same. It's like Anshuman said during the drunkfest,
"Kyunke jab hum ek saath chalte hai, sab kuch theek rehta hai."
The line holds so true for this moment!
They are finally standing albeit at opposite ends but well... atleast they are standing. They still can't move though. Not without each other. They are avoiding the mess and they are not falling but they are still inevitably stuck. It's not just Anshuman who needs Paakhi in his life, Paakhi needs him just as much and that is exactly what we see here. We see two people, who know that the only way out of this is to pull together, get down to the very center of the problem all over again and then fight their way out.
Too much? I know its just shampoo but well.. I like symbolism I suppose. đ
Anshuman leans against the wall and Paakhi tries to lean against the table. I find it almost endearing how Anshuman snatches her hand back in that moment. His actions are so clear at this point,
He's leaning against the wall and that should be enough. He is enough to take care of both of them. All she needs to do is hold on to him and he will do the rest.
She insists on still holding to the table and you see two equals who insist on supporting the other in any way they can. She won't let him carry her... she believes in finding their way through this together... much like that very straight pair of lines they managed to walk on despite being drunk just because they were holding hands. I keep going back to that don't I? đ¤
Her support works and the door is finally open. Anshuman alone doesn't save Paakhi and neither does she save him... they save each other and that togetherness is essential if they are to survive through whatever life throws their way.
It's not just love with these two, its family.
anything essential is invisible to the eyes.
