I have always been a silent reader on the forum and since Meera's death didnt watch this show. I just followed written updates, but this weeks episodes just made me go ballistic. What Kokila and her feeding Bottle baby son have been doing, amounts to mental torture, and the sadist Indian audience loves this shit.
There is also one another crap-fest where the lead abuses his wife in every possible way, and she still madly loves him. What kind of message do they want to give the society, that its the right of a family to abuse the DIL, she can be stomped, accused, physically tortured and still the max she should do is cry or pray to GOD, and finally one day all misunderstandings get cleared and they hug and make up.
An independent woman, who single-handedly raised her daughter, still feels that those two monsters, who never understood her pain and loss, will stand by her just because she cooks a sumptuous meal... utter bullshit. I know she is staying there for Vidya's sake, but what is making her to listen to those petty abuses.
I just so want, once the truth unfolds before everybody, the crying volcano should explode and she should make the Modi's burn in it. If you look at Ramayan, even Goddess Sita, was not ready to join her husband and at the end renounced the unjust world (including her husband).
For ages woman are shown to be epitome of endurance, and these stupid dramas are reinforcing that same cliches, and sadly majority of audience still love this kind of sadistic dramas.
There is not even one progressive story without the SAAS BAHU DRAMA, that can project a strong self made woman ,who knows how to stand for herself and for others. A woman who can fearlessly and assertively put her point forward, even before her in-laws, one who calls a spade a spade and does not cry buckets of tears.
I think 80's and 90's fared much better in terms of content and portrayal of woman on TV. We had very strong female characters. Some of them were widows, single mothers, police officers or even housewives, but all of them had their own mindset, and they articulated their thoughts too.
If this is what we want our next generation to be, decked brides, with no brains of their own, follow instructions, listen to abuses and bear the torture silently then damn Indian Television. My sincere condolences to the audiences and brilliant CV's who creatively create these ultimate brain-drainers..
Sorry for any harsh words. I now this will not change anybody's views or will change the mindset of the audience or CV's but nevertheless RIP Indian Television ( I miss old days)...
