So since we are having threads all over the place about iconic actresses, I thought I'd just create a poll.

Which actress according to you can be termed 'iconic'?

Smitha Patil. She's often referred as the best actress India has produced even by regional media.

I think if the government issues stamps with the picture of an actress, they automatically become Icons. Meenakumari, Nargis and Madhubala already have stamps issued by the government with their picture, so they are already icon regardless of the results of this poll 😛

As for my choices, Nutan (has a stamp).

I think minimum Padmashri should be awarded to be considered iconic.

Most on the list holds that title in their own rights but if you talk about specific ones. It has to Madhuri Dixit, Hema Maini & Madhubala (mainly based on their looks). Then Nargis, Rekha & Sridevi or their versatility in cinema.

Yes, why care about mere women when the men ran around trees chasing each other, played mother roles, wife roles, sister, daughter, goddesses. Yep, why bother. 😡
