"Ma, I will leave day after tomorrow," told Rishabh while having breakfast. Radha nodded her head in the form of consent and went inside the kitchen. Madhu was serving the food. As she tried to put a bread on Rishabh's plate, he just shoved off her hand. "I'll take it myself, when I need it," muttered Rishabh. Madhu was appalled at his behaviour at first, but then moved away, keeping down the bread basket. All these days she had noticed Rishabh's indignation with everything, but today she realized it was all directed to her. She silently moved to her bedroom. Entering the room, first thing her eyes fell upon was the life size wall frame of her wedding pic with Amit. Both of them smiling beautifully in the photograph. That was probably their last picture where they looked happy together.
Madhu was waiting for Trishna and Sultan at the ground floor of Ambience Mall. Trishna, late as usual, texted her they would reach in 10 minutes. The mall was decorated beautifully for Christmas, and flocks of people crowded every corner. Madhu was getting quite impatient with every minute. "Hey Madhu." She turned back hearing someone calling her name. "Oh Sultan, where is Trishna?" asked Madhu. "She was coming with us, but suddenly she saw a big Christmas sale' sign on the Debenhams, and got stuck in there," replied Sultan nonchalantly. Madhu was shocked to hear that, saying, "What? Aren't we supposed to go for the movie due in 5 minutes?" "No wonder, Sultan got his perfect match in Trishna." Madhu for the first time noticed Amit standing by Sultan, who by that time got a punch in his stomach from Sultan. "Ouchh," blurted Amit. "Tell me haddi-waddi whatever, but don't say anything against my wife, understood?" warned Sultan. "Why shouldn't he? Your wife is a limit at times!!" blurted Madhu in Amit's defence, "By the way, hi Amit. I hope you are also here to watch the movie, more than waiting for a shopaholic. Let Sultan wait for his darling, we will go to the Cineplex. I do not want to miss the upcoming movie trailers." Saying so, Madhu stomped towards the elevator. Amit shrugged his shoulder at Sultan and then followed Madhu to the elevator.
"I am hungry, I need something to eat before entering the audi," said Madhu, looking at the food stalls. "Ok, I will get the food and drinks. You get inside. Oh, but tell me what do you want to have?" asked Amit. "Umm, one chicken hotdog, one medium caramel pop-corn, one salsa-nachos and a big Pepsi," replied Madhu thoughtfully. "Are you sure Trishna and Sultan will want these?" asked Amit. "I don't know what they will have. These all are for me," replied Madhu. Amit looked at her in utter bewilderment. She did not look like such a voracious eater. Did her stomach extend in her limbs as well? Madhu had already entered the audi by that time. "Hey you, how dare you left us behind?" shouted Trishna from the back. "God, save me," muttered Amit. "Get me a sandwich, a pop-corn and a large Fanta, huhh," huffed Trishna and went inside the audi. "Same for me too, buddy," chuckled Sultan and followed his wife. Amit stood there completely baffled.
By the time Amit managed to get inside the audi with all the food and drinks, precariously balanced on a tray, the movie had started, and it was completely dark. He somehow managed to locate the row. "Hey Sultan, hold this man," he said and forwarded the tray. "Where is my pop-corn, where is the Fanta," Trishna started shouting. "Shhh, please shut up," said Madhu exasperated. In all that hustle, Sultan spilt his drink on Trishna. "Oh my god, my new dress!!" Trishna cried out and stood up. The people sitting behind started complaining in frustration. "Please Trishna, let others watch the movie. You go to the washroom," muttered Madhu. Sultan too, by that time had left his seat and accompanied Trishna outside. "Why are you standing? Sit, and watch the movie. Now there won't be any interruption," huffed Madhu and pointed Amit his seat beside her. When the movie ended, Madhu came out smiling wide. "That was such a beeeautiful movie, I just loved it!!" exclaimed Madhu. Amit just rolled his eyes; rom-coms were definitely not his cup of tea. "Where are Sultan and Trishna? They didn't even come for the movie," commented Amit. "There they are," pointed Madhu towards the M&S shop. Sultan had a heap of clothes in his hands, waiting outside the fitting room. "Compensating for ruining Trishna's dress?" asked Madhu bemused. Sultan just sulked and looked away. "Fine, we are waiting outside, come when you are done!!" said Amit and went outside the shop. They were talking and laughing about Sultan and Trishna's rab ne mila di jodi' saga and walking aimlessly in the mall when suddenly someone shouted, "Stop, stay where you are." Both Amit and Madhu looked startled when two girls approached them. "You are standing below the mistletoe. You have to kiss now," beamed one of the girls. "What??" exclaimed both Amit and Madhu. "Yes, that is the practice of Christmas, kissing beneath the mistletoe. You will be given lots of gifts with that." "We are not doing anything like that," said Amit exasperated and pulled Madhu's hand to walk away. "You have no choice, Sir. You are on camera. You will have to do this," said the girl with finality. Out of nowhere, Trishna and Sultan had also joined the crowd, and started hooting with the crowd. "Yes, make them kiss, in public. Serves them right," shouted Sultan in excitement. "Saala tu dost hai yeah dushman?" demanded Amit, flustered. Madhu could not utter anything. She was feeling totally embarrassed. As if the whole mall had gathered at that point to see them kiss each other. Seeing no escape way, Amit stared at Madhu helplessly. He slowly approached her. Madhu closed her eyes in apprehension and embarrassment. The shout from the crowd was deafening, but even in that she heard a soft whisper, "I am sorry Madhu," followed by a light touch of his lips on her own. It was barely felt, but gave rise to an alien feeling within her. This feeling intensified all the more as she lay on her bed that night, thinking about the incident, when her phone buzzed with the message tone. "I am sorry for the incident," read the message from Amit. "It's ok, that was not your fault," replied Madhu. Few moments later another text came, "Would you be angry if I say I quite liked the sensation?" Madhu blushed at the thought and replied, "Me too."
