I don't think he went there with intentions to pray to lord Krishna. It brought back memories from the past while he was passing by. He remembered that Jodha never forgot to light the Diya and this was must do ritual for her everyday. That night she was fighting for her life and Jalal lite the diya because it went off. He knew Jodha would have lite the diya and it would make her happy. He just completed ritual for her. He prayed because he believed Kanha always listen to Jodha.

yup he did it for jodha...

but then he saw his wife praying in hindu style therefore he has learn the culture of praying in hindu style...
