I found Cate's "statement" about Dylan's letter disappointing. While I don't expect her to want to get deeply involved in addressing this situation, I think it would have been better for her to have kept silent rather than issue the condescending, lack-of-genuine-feeling, formulaic, one-line nonsense she issued.

I tend to try very hard to "read" people carefully and fairly and not interpret them with my own emotions. But that statement from Cate strongly smacked of "oh, you're obviously a messed up little person with problems " good luck getting some help with that" ... to me.

I have lost all my respect for Cate after that statement.

My heart reaches out to Dylan. I understand people being skeptical about accusations with "you never know". However, I don't think there is any reason someone would make that much up. There is no rationale, reason or motive to make that up. The letter seems sincere or genuine. As another op-ed pointed out - why can't we hold Dylan innocent until proven guilty. Why assume she may be lying or making it up?

I wish Woody Allen gets charged and convicted of his crimes. Unfortunately, due to statute of limitations I don't think Dylan can legally make a case again. God forbid there be other victims, but I hope someone speaks up so he can be tried and convicted.

Finally, I'm still curious to see Blue Jasmine though. I probably should be boycotting Woody Allen through and through, but I do struggle with letting moral right override my personal interests and wants.

It's sad that as a society we cannot give her proper justice. I hope at least we don't award his movies, don't watch his movies and discourage other actors to work with him. I want him to get some public shaming...the least we can do if not penalize him for the shit he did.

I heard Blue Jasmine is kinda based on Mia Farrow...where the protagonist reports her husband for his crime cz she is jealous of his teenage girlfriend.

I kept hearing about this but never read her letter. That just made me sick to my stomach. And the film fraternity still associates with this piece of shit. What a sick and twisted world we live in 🤢.
