Ok here is the next part and sorry for delay as I was busy in some personal business….
This part is dedicated to my newly found frends…pakiza(paku) and sughra….
Jai is completely in rage with bani………thoughts kept on coming to his mind……"she had always been very careful with what she said and did. i was always rude with her when we got married under duress but i don't remember a single occasion when she answered me back whenever I kept throwing insults at her…….even when i called her a prostitude…she kept mum….it was a golden opportunity for her to make jigyasa eat every word that she had spoken about her or about her sisters…..cause it was jigyasa's daughter who was pregnant out of wedlock….but she handled the situation with immense maturity………if she can care about those people….then what is wrong with her…now???? Why is she making this child suffer????? " That single question drilled his mind and brains…….there was no logical explanation to what bani was doing…."i tried justifying each and every deed of hers……..but now I am on the verge of giving up my hope to find my sweetheart bani back"………….his eyes started watering……
He desperately wanted to talk to bani about this but reprimanded himself not to…..as he was very angry at the moment and would have blurted out nastier things that he actually didn't mean to say.
Bani came slowly and sat down beside him and fastened the seat belt…..he tried reading her face but he couldn't comprehend her thoughts beneath that calm face……
"She has really become a stone now"…..he thought and started the car…………
Bani was feeling guilty like hell…….she didn't know that doctor would divulge all her reports to him….and that too in such complaining manner. How could she accuse Mr.walia of negligence…towards this chid….? She wanted to confess her feelings to jai who she knew was mad at her for what doctor said……she wanted to tell him that not even for a fraction of second she thought that Mr.Walia was careless towards her or child….if there was one single person who would die for this child…then thats only Mr.Walia….and there was no two ways about that…………. but she couldn't do that….she remained silent.
She kept stealing glances of jai……whose total attention was on the road ahead as if bani didn't exist in the car……
"What if I become too emotional and reveal everything in the state of schmaltzy. its hard to deceive those sharp eyes"……she had learnt to put faade of a money minded woman who doesn't get hurt by anyone's comments……….but it was only her who knew how much those words needled her heart….and more than that her soul……she was indeed on the toughest crossroads of her life……..where she mean to chose a path which she would have to walk down alone………
Their car stopped at the traffic signal……she tried to mumble something…but couldn't.
She wouldn't be able to see hatred in jai's eyes who once reflected enormous love and faith for her…….
A small kid stretched his dirty hand through open windows of their car……where jai was sitting….thoughtful. bani looked at him….he must be 8 or 9 years old….he had bunch of nishigandha flowers in one hand and was holding on to probably his little sister with the other who was merely 1 year old or even less than that. She was sobbing copiously…
sahab….plz sahab ye phul le lijiye na …..ye meri behen kal raat se bhuki hai…aur mai bhi …...kuch nahi mila khaneko……….bahot bhuk lagi hai…please aap ye phul le lijiye na……..that boy was pleading to them….jai came out of his reverie.
He kept looking at the boy and the small girl he was clinging on to….he took out his wallet withdrew all notes and gave them to the boy whose eyes were widen with shock to see all that money….that boy placed all bunches of flowers in jai's outstretched hand and thanked him with smile on his face…….bani noticed tear rolling down on jai's cheek ….he silently wiped it out on the pretext of setting his hair back in place….which were ruffled due to breeze coming from marine drive…he took the bunches and almost threw them on backseat even without admiring their freshness and beuty…even when they were his favorite.
Marine drive……..
Mr.Walia's favorite destination for longdrive….bani thought……..she had come here before with Mr.Walia when he bagged a very big contract . he was very happy that day……he took her for longdrive…and talked his heart out….how lonely he felt when his mother died, how he had to stand up strong to support jigyasa….how he wanted someone who could understand true jai walia which was as vulnerable inside as he pretended to be tough on exterior. How he went on doing business and only business for years….he hit the highest point in business world…how he had so many affairs but couldn't stick to just one woman who could see jai beyond his wealth and smashing looks………they were sitting on a big rock…..seawaves bursting on it with splash….showering them time to time…they sat there for what seemed like an eternity…. watching sun set followed by fading light which rendered an ethereal glow to whole atmosphere … then he took her hand in his and said in the soft voice that bani didn't know existed that she was the one who comprehended him and his actions. She was the one he was in search of for so many years….. those words and most prominently his touch…sent shiver through her spine…she kept her face downcast so that he couldnot see the way she was blushing…. Bani,You are the friend I was praying for all my life…..those words brought her back from her dreamland…where jai was in love with her.
'Friend'……she couldn't hide her disappointment……she thought he was in love with her….but then she smiled…… how could he be in love with her…afterall their marriage was fake….based on plain deceit. But it was not bad as a compliment….at least he wasn't hating her…….
Car stared with a jerk and bani came back to her senses……she kept looking outside…it was still mid afternoon……but there was drizzling outside which made it tolerable.
Where is Mr.Walia taking me??? This is not our regular path….as their car took a right turn she gave jai a questioning look but he looked completely aloof of her reaction…she asked him under the breath about where exactly they were heading???? But he did not reply. He was looking as stern as he could….she had no other choice than remain seated…after about half and hour they entered a plush colony of bungalows….bani had never been to this side of city…..she was still wondering ….when their car entered in porch of the last bungalow in the line……..
