Hello friends, since a lot of members want to know about how to join the development team so here we are making a guideline which will let you know as to what the Development Team authorities expect from you to be an ideal candidate to join the Development Team.

Main Criteria:

Warnings - You should not have any active warnings. We do check every potential candidate's Warning Level history.
Members should be Warnings free for a continued period of minimum 2 years or more and if the member's behavior has improved over time then the member may be considered as a potential candidate to join the Development Team.

Hall of Fame / Total number of likes - Please be aware that promotions are not based on the number of likes a member gets in Hall Of Fame. The activeness of a member, at least for promotions, is evaluated by genuine contribution of the member towards betterment of a particular forum.

Maturity
Promotions are not just based on who organizes contests or DOTW (Debate Of The Week)/ GOTW  (Game Of The Week) for the forum or who reports the maximum number of inappropriate posts. Sometimes, its easy to handle a forum when there is no opposition but once people start to divide into different fan groups , that's when we can see whether a candidate is able to handle the situation thrown at to them. Many members are not able to handle crisis and fights. We need members who are mature to handle criticism and also are not biased. A member who respects diverse point of view and shows tolerance even during heated debates , promotes/facilitates healthy discussion a role model in a forum . We look for members who exhibit following characteristics.
 Example :
1. Ability to remain impartial, open, and appear unbiased
2. Interaction with members with various temperaments
3. Ability to articulate thoughts to get their point across i.e language should appear non confrontational and unbiased.
4.Members who are civil, composed ,polite, obey the rules, open and tolerant of alternative ideas.

Behavior -  We consider members behavior and interaction with others in a forum to be important. The development team members should set good example for other members to follow hence responsibility , peer interaction and good behavior is considered to be crucial. Do remember we check the candidate's history in both past and currently active forums during the selection process for eligibility.

Spamming - Some members volunteer to update archives , update threads, open important topics etc but loose interest when they do not see any opportunity for promotion and stop updating without informing the Development Team. This is an example of inconsistency and failing to be responsible.Such members are not favorable during selection process!

Promotion also depends on other facts like
A)
If additional Development Team are needed to handle a high volume of traffic in a section. ,
B) Some forums are difficult to handle and do need experienced Development Team members.
for example: Forums with volatile fan groups/controversial reality shows ,
C) Forum traffic. If the forum runs smoothly without any problems or issues, the Global Moderators will look after the forum based on the forums activity and no Development Team will be added until they are needed there.

FAQs:

Do the Development Team members have look at the applications submitted using "Join the dev team!" link ?

Yes, we do look at each and every application that is submitted using "Join the dev team!" link. If we do find any suitable candidate who has applied for a position we do consider the candidate for Development Team position.

Potential Candidates will be contacted by the Global Moderators/Admins .They may be given some assessment tasks to see how they perform under certain criteria before consideration.

How to become a Coolbie?

If you update for a daily soap, then you must be a regular updater for at least three months prior to promotion.

If you update for a reality show(1 - 1.5 hours /episode) you must be a regular updater for at least one month (i.e. 4 updates per month) to be considered for Coolbie promotion.

If you update for a weekly / bi weekly show then you must provide at least 2 updates per month i.e 6 updates for 3 months.

If you have been writing updates for three months or more for daily soaps (or one month or more for reality shows / or providing 2 updates per month for 3 months for a weekly/ bi weekly show) , please PM the Moderator / Viewbie of that section and speak with them about your chances of becoming a Coolbie. Also please remember to be consistent with your updates. Irregularity in providing updates may affect your promotion.

What should be the length of the written update?

Please provide a reasonable amount of detail in your update. It should not be brief and does not have to super detailed, kindly find an appropriate balance. We understand that sometimes you may not be able to provide a detailed update. However, please don't make this a habit. Likewise, please give importance to all characters. An update is suppose to as unbiased as possible. You may not be a fan of a character, but others on the forum may appreciate him/her.

Are copying and pasting updates from other site with/without permission allowed?

Copying updates from other sites is strictly not allowed be it with or without permission. A member is promoted as a coolbie because of his/her hard work and not because of copying updates from other sites. Any member found copying updates from other sites with/without permission will NOT be promoted as a Coolbie.

Is being a Coolbie the next step to becoming a Viewbie/ Cool Viewbie?

There has been a considerable amount of confusion regarding what is a Coolbie. By definition, a Coolbie is someone who provides written updates on a regular basis (at least 3 months prior to promotion) for India-Forums. Now the confusion lies between a Coolbie and Viewbie. Being a Coolbie is not the automatic gate to getting promoted to a Viewbie. A Viewbie simply does not organize activities; there is a lot more that goes into the Viewbie role. With that being said, this doesn't mean you cannot climb up the ladder. If opportunities arise and you fit the criteria, you will be considered. However, as Coolbie any additional activities you do on top of providing updates is voluntary from your end and not a mandatory criteria to be promoted further in the ladder!

How to become a Viewbie?

An ideal candidate needs to get involved in healthy discussions.  Please make sure that you do not spam the forum with one liners or irrelevant topics just to make the section active. Participating in meaningful discussions will help you in being an ideal candidate for the section. Another point to remember is that criticism is perfectly fine if done in limits but it should not take the form of bashing. If you see any member involved in bashing or arguments please make the member understand his/her wrong doing but please do make sure that in the process you do not involve in excess of moral policing. If the other member does continue to indulge in bashing simply report their posts and let the development team take further action.

Last but not the least please be your self. Don't change your self to just become a Viewbie as later that might pose as an issue.

Some forums already have Development Team members assigned . Why ?

Reality shows run for a short period of time and we need Development Team members in advance to handle the forum as the atmosphere in the forum is tense due to competitive nature of reality shows.

For daily soaps, there are many situations where there are arguments between various fan groups over their favorite celebrities and we assign experienced Development Team members only since these members have handled such issues in the past and know exactly how to deal with fans in a better way.

What process is followed if a Development Team member becomes inactive ?

In the past we have faced issues where a member after getting promoted gets inactive without informing any other members of the forum's Development Team and/ or the higher authorities. In such cases we would be removing rights of the member if the member remains inactive for 6 months. Sometimes, some development team members ignore their own sections while they are active in other sections, in such cases we will be informing the particular member that their rights will be removed due to inactivity in their respective forum.

Note: The above points are just some guidelines or Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on who is considered as a potential candidate for the Development Team. These guidelines do not guarantee that you would become a Coolbie/Viewbie.
