Noah
Biblical stories are dramatic, exciting and have potential to make great stories. I always thought the Biblical accounts of the Great Flood as well as many other biblical tales would make great entertaining movies. So naturally, one would think a Hollywood embellishment of the biblical tale would be an entertaining movie.
Sadly Noah falls flat. It is dull, slow and drags excruciatingly long. Sequences that could have been wrapped up tightly are stretched to humdrum eternity. The special effects are subpar and don't inspire any awe. I didn't find the acting any special either. Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins and co fell totally flat IMO.
Surprisingly, the films redeeming factor was Logan Lerman who played Ham beautifully. All the other actors including Emma Watson were erratic and overboard. Logan Lerman's Ham was the only one subtly restrained, showing quiet rage as he struggles between his personal desires and being an obedient son as Noah and God desire. The other highlight was how the story of creationism was portrayed in the movie. It narrates the biblical account while wrapping in the Big Bang theory and evolution. That was cleverly done.
