Written update 1st november 2013 Jodha Akbar

Jodha wakes up to find Jalal(fully clothed) rubbing her hands to get them warm.His furrowed forehead making it very evident,that he was worried for her.He was seated beside her,as she laid there.As Jodha wakes up in sleepy confusion,having very little memory of last night,she suddenly notices her hand,finding solace in his arms.SHe quickly pulls them away.

As she straightens up,she tries recalling the events that occurred last night,but everything after she saw him arrive near the tree was blank.She looks around to figure things out and then notices her clothes.her dupatta seemed off place,so she quickly tucks her dupatta. She then enquires about last night.

She asks him how she had landed up in the tent. Jalal replies,saying,who else would dare to bring her here? The answer was clear. Just then Moti arrives and Jalal orders her to give Jodha her medicines.He then leaves.

Jodha's vague remembrance of last night annoyed her.She asks Moti if she knew anything about it.Moti smiles,teasing her by saying,how could she describe what happened between Jodha and shahenshah?

Maham enters soon enough,to get an already tensed Jodha even more tensed.Maham tells her that she need not worry,she tells her that Jalal and Jodha had now consummated their marriage.Jodha is shattered.Maham tels her to take rest,since she very obviously needed it,laughs and goes off.

Moti wonders why Maham spoke in such a tone.Clearly something was odd.

It still wasnt clear what had happened the previous night.

Cut to,Jalal is conversing with a few ministers of his.Discussing about proceeding with their journey,since the weather had been better.Jodha storms in there.She had covered herself with an extra shawl.But her messy hair,did make a statement. All the ministers leave.

Jalal very politely asks her why she had come here,when her health had still not stabilised?She tells him to come inside,she wanted to talk in private(some soldiers were standing)

Once they are inside,she orders him to spit it out.What had he done to her?Why was it so important for him to break his promise?He tells her that all he did was save her life.She doesn't bother.She tells him that she'd rather have died.What kind of a shahenshah is he if cant keep one promise?

Jalal is now angry.he very firmly tells her that he need not be told how to behave like an emperor or a husband,for that matter. Whatever he did,was to save her life and he did nothing wrong. He then leaves. Jodha breaks down as she falls on her knees.

(No flashbacks were shown.We still dont know what exactly had happened)

Cut to,everyone is now on their way back to Agra.Jalal and the men on horses and the women in the palanquins. Jodha is still trying hard to recall about last night.She wanted to be assured that nothing of 'that' sorts had happened.

Meanwhile,a messenger was on his way to deliver a message to Jalal,but loses his way.

Jalal and crew soon reach Agra,but is stopped by the Ulema/Maulvi,(religious heads,educated in islamic studies)right at the entrance.Everyone is stunned.

But being a gentleman he is,Jalal greets them and says that there had to be a very valid reason behind them,stopping him right at the gate,instead of discussing it inside.

One of them speaks,saying yes there was a reason, a big one.He says that the emperor had insulted his own religion.Hence he had not right to handle the kingdom.he had visited the temple in Amer and this meant he ridiculed his own religion.

Jalal asks them,how exactly had he insulted the religion?He had followed every single thing taught to him about the religion,by them. He does his namaaz five times a day,follows every rule.Then how exactly did he do any wrong?

The heads are adamant and say that this was wrong.He shouldn't have gone into the temple and prayed to the idol.Since,idol worship was prohibited by Islam.

Jalal says he did have an answer to it.But Hamida takes charge now.She comes forward and tells them,that since the time of Babur and right uptil Jalal,every Mughal emperor has strictly followed Islam and has taken care of the kingdom,keeping in mind,all the rules and regulations.

The heads didnt budge an inch.They say that their sentiments were hurt and so were other Muslims'. they would not let Jalal reach his throne,without having him ross over their dead bodies.

This is when Maham raises her voice,much to Adham's distress.When she speaks though,the heads tell her she had no right to speak.But Maham retorts saying,sure she does.They said that all the Muslims were hurt and she,was a Muslim. So,she did have a say in this.

She describes how tender this issue was and how it needed to be handles.They were the Ulema,the scholars,highly educated class.People look upto them for their elegance.But the way they handled this situation was totally wrong.How is right to STOP the shahenshah at the entrance?She roars like a lion,when she says,what right did they have to STOP the shahenshah to sit on his throne?!

One should not forget,that everyone present there,were present BECAUSE of the shahenshah.The kingdom was because of him,not vice versa. They were in hindustan,and yet they were free muslims.Why?It was because of their shahenshah and shahenshah alone.

Even then,if they did have an issue,there was a method to handle it,not this way,creating a mockery out of the situation.

The heads still go on and on about the issue.They say that it was wrong on his side to bow down to a hindu god.Jalal then says that he did have an answer.

He asks them if he had shown anytime that he didn't believe in god?That was afterall their issue right?He then speaks to one particular leader there.He asks him,if he remembers where he was born.the leader replies,Umerkot.

He then says,that if he remembers properly,during that time,he had prayed for Jalal's safety.The leader says yes.He did do that.Jalal then asks him if he remembers where he had prayed.The leader replies-TEMPLE.

He had rested his case.The leader himself had prayed in a temple.So Jalal says,if bowing down was wrong,then the leader was to blamed,because Jalal had bowed down to the hindu god while he was a child only.

The matter is now sort of cooled.But then the heads plant another nuclear bomb.They tell him,that the whoel issue had occurred because of Jodha.If she hadn't gone to Amer,even the emperor wouldn't have,and thus the temple issue would have been out of the picture.Thus,to make this right,Jodha would have to convert to Islam.

Everyone is stunned.Maham comes to the rescue,saying THIS wasn't the time or place to discuss this matter.Jalal agrees and says that it will be discussed in the Deewaan-e-khaas.

Cut to,Maham is in her chamber as Adham storms in firing at her.He tells her that this was one chance they had to throw Jalal out of his throne and her son's dream would have finally come true.

Maham makes him understand that she herself wants her son to become the king,but not at the cost of dethroning Jalal.They should not forget that Adham and herself had so much respect in the kingdom,because of Jalal alone.If it wasn't for him,they were nothing more than slaves.Hence,they should be grateful to him.

An angry Adham raises his hand on her,but stops mid-way.Maham is shocked.SHe warns him and tells him that this is the difference between him and Jalal.Jalal treats her like a mother,despite not being related to her by blood and Adham behaved this way.

precap: Maham tells Jodha,that if she wanted she could have stopped Jalal from going into the temple,but Jodha didn't do it.Jodha repliesby saying Jalal had come there on his wish,so how was it her fault?Maham stresses that,that was not a good enough reason.Jalal is being questioned because of her,so it was necessary that she convert to Islam,to sort things out.
