At first I want to mention about the direction, again. The Unique Setting of the episodes- Stage, Outdoor/ Studio locations, the use of 'Sutradhar'/ anchor (even the the costumes of the anchors are acc. to the theme/ characters of the episodes! βοΈ ), the use of Lighting (on stage), the Shlokas at the Beginning and at the End of every episode, with their Meaning (which gives us Wisdom and I feel they also convey an element of Humility on the part of the presenters βοΈ ) - all these features make this series so so Special!!!! βοΈ βοΈ Really want to appreciate the Whole Team of 'Upanishad Ganga' for this novel endeavour!!! βοΈ We are so so grateful to them for bringing all the rich heritage through such simple yet priceless episodes! The Simple, Direct approach is another chief feature of the series βοΈ. It has nothing extra in it, always working with the minimum characters, set, dialogue, music- all the episodes are so focused on the topic!!!! These qualities are really missing in most of the TV Series of recent times (of course there are exceptions also π, but stilll, ) 'Upanishad Ganga' has done really a marvellous job!!! No words are enough to thank 'Chinmaya Mission' and all the persons related to the series βοΈ
Now coming to the episodes-
Episode 23 - Glory of Human Birth - Story of Tulsidas
Tulsidas's life is shown and the ideals on which he was working, has been mentioned in a nice way. All the hardships faced by Tulsidasji was unable to diminish his spirit. In fact we can say his struggles have made him more wise. He was so touched by the downfall of morality in society of his time, that he decided to compose a text where all the Ideals/ Virtues will be shown through the story of his God- Shri Ram. We feel like bowing our head to the Noble Aim of Tulsidasji to uplift the society from wrong influences of that time. Both the dialogues by Tulsidas- to his wife and to Todarmal, are nicely written, able to evoke our emotion, realising the Greatness of the character of Goswami Tulsidas.
Episode 33 - Bondage - Story of Puranjan
Beginning is comic π but the rest of the episode tells us the truth behind the concept of 'Bondage' with the story of Puranjan. I was amazed by the story when I read it for the first time from 'Shrimad Bhagwat'!!... Here, they showed the story in short, but the words by Avigyaat are so True!!! We just need to think deeply about all those messages given in the episodes, through them we will be able to move more and more towards our Final Destination π.
Episode 35 - God- The Three Questions
An intelligent episode. Another of my favourite βοΈ. The questions which come in the mind of any common man about God are dealt with, in this episode. The explanation given by the lady are so creative yet reflecting the Truth βοΈ - Superb!!!
Episode 40 - The Creation - Story of Varahamihira
(Dialogue on page )
A great episode indeed!!! One of my really really favourite!!!! Mainly because of the way it handles the subject matter- i.e.- Creation. Firstly, the person who played the role of Varah Mihir - Gagan Malik, has done such a great job!!!! βοΈ His quiet eyes, down-to-earth behaviour and the Truth reflected in all his words- are the main things which make this episode so special!!!
The mystrery of creation, which can be found in Spiritual texts are presented in such simple language and with such ordinary examples, that it becomes very easy for the audience to grasp the essence of the process.I am sure, any person who has realised the truth hidden in those words of Varah Mihir, will be able to see the creation with a new vision, after watching the episode!!!! Knowledge just removes the veil of ignorance from us. I am so happy to watch this episode, to be able to feel and realise the Truth of the words by Varah Mihir π, such an enriching experience!!!
Episode 44 - Inborn Traits - Story of Mohan-Rajkumari and Story of Sant Eknath
The first part deals with outward attraction, its reason (ignorance), and how Satsang along with 'Saatvik' food can help us to remove the ignorance. All those points are so True!
I personally liked the second part of the story more than the first part. The second part tells us how we all get influenced even by the casual work we do in our life. The son-in-law of Sant Eknath himself started soul searching when he was just casually teaching scriptures to his wife π. In some way or the other, Knowledge makes its effect felt on all the receptive souls, which is under a temporary spell of ignorance. The way Eknath attained his aim (i.e.- correcting his son-in-law's ways, bringing him back to the right track) is so praiseworthy!!! βοΈ All the Words of Wisdom at the end of the episode from Sant Eknath are so valuable!!! They are to be meditated upon...
Episode 46 - Advanced spiritual practices - Story of Khandikya and Keshidhvaja from Vishnu Purana
Loved the episode as it highlights the way we can move from ordinary to a Higher level. The story shows us how Khandikya overpowered his lower nature (i.e.- hatred, represented by his counsel/ friends) and acted acc. to his Knowledge/ wisdom, which led him to realising the Aatman, with the help of the very person whom he considered to be his enemy π... Keshidhwaj was a noble person and Khandigya also became a noble person by conquering his nature!!! Such an inspiring story!
Episode 47 - The attitude when performing action, Karma Yoga
A special episode because of the way Tansen narrates about his Guru. The Purity and Surrendership which is reflected in the voice (rather 'gaayaki') of Sant Haridas), is itself a proof of the Purity of his 'being'. In the beginning of the episode, we get a glimpse of the elevated level of Sant Haridas, when he explains to Tansen to find his Aim of singing, while answering Tansen's question about improving his performance. This dialogue itself gives us a hint about the theme of the rest of the episode π
In a way we can say that Sant Haridas of this ep has reached the same stage as Paravailla Swami of ep 52, where they do not need to care about the society, they have reached their Aim of life, they have already attained 'Liberation' π.
'Isliye mere Guru, mujhse, shreshth hain.' - These words by Tansen at the end of the episode are so True that they bring tears in our eyes realising the Sincerity of Sant Haridas!!! And just in the previous scene, 'Aur mera Ramtanu, Tansen, itna kachcha nahi ho sakta ki sur sadhne me gachcha kha jay.' - these words by Sant Haridas shows us that the teacher already knew about the Aim of his student (i.e.- to make his teacher sing, so that the king can listen to him) and still continued the game π. Such a memorable moment!!! βοΈ. The sweetness of this scenes just makes our heart melt... βοΈ. Great performance by both K K Raina and Gagan Malik βοΈ
Episode 51 - Liberation - Story of Parvailla Swami
Another Great episode!!
The Wise Words by the 'sutradhar' at the end of the episode regarding thories of 'Karma' and also about the concepts of 'Jeevanmukti' and 'Videhamukti' are explained in really simple words, so as to make it easy for us to understand them βοΈ
