It's been in the family for about 50 years. It belonged to the grandmother. But is it really? I distinctly remember seeing it in bookstores.

Just had a convo with dad today, he was talking about how India bans everything even remotely thought provoking saying "This hurts people's feelings"

What people? What century do we live in? #SMH

My copy is.

I looked it up.

Lady C's Lover has been banned in India from roughly the British Era. And they never revoked that law.

But they don't really enforce it anymore, cos a lot of people I know have a copy. Maybe you have the stray case here and there of enforcement.

As a rule, romance is not banned in India, Ridz, but Lady C gets flak on grounds of "obscenity"-- and by very outdated standards too.

Check this out--

I and my mum have read a few books on that list.

In any case, I will NEVER listen to a government telling me what to read and what not to. I don't appreciate moral policing of any degree, nor do I tolerate other people telling me what to think. And it really is about time our so called liberal democracy learned that.

Absolutely ANYTHING goes in the name of "hurt sentiments", and "defamatory or inflammatory material".

I REALLY feel like telling everyone involved here to GROW THE (insert banned cuss word here) UP.

The last time a country banned too many books and eventually started burning them, it was followed by the Holocaust.

I think that is something no one ought ever forget.
