Abhijeet sings for Bollywood

SING ALONG: Producer Surendra Bhatia, Abhijeet Sawant and director Deepak Tijori at the recording of Sawant's first film song at Krishna Studios yesterday

Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant will now sing for Bollywood.

Yesterday, he recorded his first number for a romantic comedy film to be produced by the Oracle Entertainment trio of Avinash, Surendra Bhatia and Sudhir Kumar who had earlier produced Fun — Can Be Dangerous Sometimes.

The film, which is yet untitled, will be directed by Deepak Tijori (Oops!, Khamosh — Khauff Ki Raat). The star cast, consisting of leading actors, is being finalised.

Says Sawant, "Though I am under contract with Sony, I can take on other assignments now. I am also looking at stage shows."

The music composers for the film is the Sanjeev-Darshan duo. The reason why Sawant pencilled in this project is "because this was the first film offer that came my way."

The Indian Idol will sing two tracks in the film. One is a solo number called Chand Jaisi Ladki and the other will be a duet with Shreya Ghosal.

According to the producers, Sawant has all the makings of a playback singer.

"We were looking for a fresh, soothing voice for the track and he was the perfect choice."

Sawant is also slated to sing for another film that has music composed by Himesh Reshammiya.

Incidentally, Indian Idol finalist Rahul Vaidya has also recorded a number for Vashu Bhagnani's film Shaadi No 1 which has music scored by Anu Malik.

u know u guys i think hes very talentd coz he sounds diff. in each of his songs and is able to mould his voice , but sum how i feel that the sony ppl r not using his talents properly wat u say? 😕

I agreed VCOOL, I don't know why sony ppl r pushing abhi in
acting 😭 As a singer Abhijeet is really too good in his young
age, i vl love to see abhijeet's solo concert.
