Chapter 13B: Not for your ears to know...

He didn't know what irked him more…..Was it the fact that Aisha was hiding something related to him? Or was it Dhruv's presence at the party or in their life?

He had seen the closeness Dhruv shared with Aisha and Pari…..Aisha's behavior and attitude with Dhruv was totally different….She was all smiles and casual around him…..very different from the Aisha he knew!

Was he jealous? Why the hell would he be?? Dhruv could be anyone to Aisha….a friend, a close one indeed…or even a boy friend….Why was he even thinking about all that??….

He and Aisha couldn't stand each other for one minute and that remains the truth forever! He tried to drive in the point as he stamped the accelerator harder and zoomed away into the night….
Mumbai was still far away! And the night was young….

Aisha had stood with her eyes fixed on Arjun as he drove away…..she muttered a silent apology to him in her mind…she knew he was angry and hurt but she had no choice really!

Dhruv patted on Aisha's shoulders to bring her back to the party…..she snapped out and looked at him….

He stood smiling at her and enquiring her "kya hua? kahaan koyi hui ho? Main aur Pari kabse tumaare liye wait kar rahe hai…."

Aisha: [ignoring all his complaints] kyun??

Dhruv: madam, dinner nahi karni hai kya?? Chalo….

Aisha smacked her head as the first thing that striked her was about him "oh god, how did I forget? He went away without having dinner….aur maine ek baar poocha tak nahi…"

Dhruv raised his eyebrows "He?? Kaun he??? Tumaara woh akdu boss???"

Aisha hit him playfully "Dhruv…"

Dhruv: arre…arre….[winking at her]ek minute….hold on, don't tell me that you are in love with him!

Aisha rolls her eyes and punches him "chup badmaash! Love and me! Are u kidding me?"

Dhruv: hmm…that's better….agar tum kabhi bhi apne decision to remain single reconsider karthi ho, toh yaad rakhna pehla meri number aathi hai…..i applied first….ok?

Aisha smiles but replies seriously…"Dhruv, maine uss waqt hi tumse kaha tha na?? I cant do that![pauses and then grins] waise bhi, you need someone who is really nice, simple and caring…tumaare saare shaitaaniyon ko sehne ki patience bhi chahiye, right? And that's not me….never me, samjhe?" [she his his head as she said that]

Dhruv: [flirtingly] haan….caring, loving, simple, nice! isiliye toh tumhe chunaa tha….par tum ho ke maanthi hi nahi ho?? [Finishes with a gloomy face]

Aisha sternly replies "DHRUVV……humaare beech iss topic par discussion manaa hai na?

Dhruv quickly withdraws "ok baba….i wont….now smile!"

Aisha smiles and nods….

[Aisha sees Pari waving at her from a distance and switches the topic quickly] chalo..Pari dinner keliye bulaa rahi hai…lets go….

She tugs him to come along and then sprints to Pari….He stands there for a few seconds more thinking

"mujhse na sahi but pls rethink ur decision Aisha…Zindagi barr akele rehna itna bhi aasaan nahi hai! [thinks for a long moment and smiles to himself] par ab mujhe umeedh ki kiran dikh rahi hai….i know you are slowly falling for him! Its all there in your eyes….tum mujhse chupaa nahi sakthi!"

He sees her with Pari waiting for him to join for dinner and walks towards him…..

The party is over….Aisha puts Pari to bed….Pari was already in the verge of sleeping and crashes in her bed in the hostel room!

Returning back to the guest house, she settles for a small chat with Dhruv in the lobby……

"So kab waapas jaa rahe ho?"

Dhruv: abi toh aaya hoom…mujhe bhagaana chahthi ho???

Aisha: ab bas yeh drama bandh karo aur seedhe seedhe jawaab dho….

Dhruv: I am free for 2 days….tum parso waapas jaa rahi ho, right?

Aisha: haan….parso subah….

Dhruv: ok...then saat chalenge….

Aisha nods and then excuses herself "chalo…I am off to bed….good night Dhruv!"

Dhruv: good night!

Two days later….Mumbai…

Aisha had come in a little late…..but she found herself instantly absorbed into the ongoing case….She kept herself busy and didn't give one chance for complaints from her senior officers nor did she give a chance to the hot cop to question her in private…..

Yes, she avoided being in his company…..She knew that he had questions for her but she wasn't ready with the answers yet!

Arjun saw her discussing some serious matter with Rathod…..he could understand that it was definitely regarding some secret mission which was obviously being kept away from him….but why? That was the big question and he surely needed answers for that….she had to answer!

He very well knew that asking Sameer wasn't going to work….he wouldn't let it out unless Aisha agreed or whoever was at the top, steering this secret mission instructed him to do so!

So getting the secret from Aisha was the safest bet!

Meanwhile, inside Rathod's cabin….

"ek baar phir se soch lo Aisha…..mujhe ab bhi yeh sab teek nahi lag raha hai! Pls back outAisha…I will speak to the commissioner….lets plan something else!"

Aisha: sir plzz, aap itna chinta matth kijiye….we have been planning it for quite sometime now….it will all turn right….iss baar koyi galthi nahi hogi….we will nail him for sure, sir!

Rathod: phir bhi Aisha, tum aag se khelne waali ho….and the worst part is that he knows you already!

Aisha: sir, drug racket itna badaa hai ke individual chehre kabhi yaad nahi rehthe……aur waise bhi meri makeover ka plan bhi thayaar hai….photo session aur networking ka work Shree se discuss karke finalize karlungi……

Rathod was silently listening to her confident talks….he was short of words…..but she added

"maine bohat research karke usske baare mein details collect kiya hai….usske ek hi kamzori hai sir….ladkiyaan….he will not let go off one chance to get hold of a new girl! Par iss baar, iss ladki ko paas paakhe woh bohat patchtaayega….." [She smiled as if she had already won]

Rathod spoke up with concern,"iss mein kitna dangers hai, yeh samajh rahi ho na? tum khud koove ke andhar jaane ki baat kar rahi ho….ek chota sa slip, aur…." [He stops midway not able to spell out the obvious result of a slip in the mission!]

Aisha nods and responds "I know sir…ek galthi aur sab kuch katam….agar main dhoobi toh usse bhi saat le dhooboongi……"

Rathod shouts at her "Stop it Aisha….tumhe kuch nahi hoga!"

Aisha smiles and speaks up, "don't you worry sir…aisa kuch nahi hoga….. this time, I will finish him off! That's a promise sir!"

Rathod unwillingly nods…he knew that this team member of his was a tough nut just like his second in command….she was stubborn just like him……And she was too hard to convince….She had decided on this and she would never back out!

Arjun was getting impatient by the serious secret discussion going on inside….He felt an urge to barge in and get the details…..but he couldn't do that…..

He stood there waiting for Aisha to step out….

Later that night…..Arjun offered to drop her to get time to speak to her but she had other plans…

She walked out of the office without taking his lift nor did she inform him….

But he wasn't the one to give up so easily….he had sensed her absence the moment she left office and went right behind her….he saw her hurrying past the gates and called her….."Aisha, rukho…"

She chose to ignore him totally and tried to cross the road hoping that he couldn't cross over to the other side in his SUV……he had to go a long way for a U-turn and come to her……

But he acted smarter….He chose to leave the vehicle in the parking lot and sprinted behind her…..He saw her carelessly walking through the speeding vehicles…..he grabbed her and pulled her away just in time, thus saving her from being hit by a biker……

He dragged her back to a safer place and held her to face him "paagal toh nahi ho Aisha? Aise kyun baag rahi ho?"

Aisha stood staring at him as if judging what he felt about the whole thing….

Slowly she replied "aap ke sawaalon se baag rahi hoom Sir"

Arjun stood totally annoyed glaring at her…..

yes Dhruv likes her but its mere a liking more than a friendship...he feels its love but Aisha is mature enough to understand the difference...
