You guys, to your credit, built an incredible show/Frankenstein. But...can't slack when in the business of customer service. Viewers need to be pleased by the product at all times. That is what differentiates TV writing from book writing. You need approval/TRPs/etc.
It doesn't mean you didn't work hard, but everyone has to be a part of this product (IPK) from start to finish. You can make great buttercream and ruin it at the very end with a drop of lemon as they say.
Barun was in his right to leave after the end of a contract, but when you break a leg of Frankenstein, it can't stand - as evidenced by this downfall. It would be good for him if he could put on his resume that he finished the show that makes him a name to recon with. What film producers want more than anything is dedication from start to finish, not dedication 90% of the time and leaving the rest high and dry just because the contract is over and you need a break. I am going to be harsh on Barun and I am sorry for it because he truly is a kind soul and a brilliant actor. SRK is SRK 100% of the time. He wakes up SRK and he goes to bed as SRK. He never clocks out, that's what makes a great Bollywood actor - insane amount of energy and a very giving family. Get on that bandwagon if you want to try your luck in films. SRK is a persona, the only way he retains the aura is through dedication. He has a personal life because he knows how to compartmentalize it. You could have make IPKKND speak for you by finishing it and then taking that break. Whatever the dissatisfaction, a true professional (like Sanaya), sees the end. I am sorry girls, but I cannot excuse the guy just because he's pretty.
The same thing would have happened if Sanaya decided to leave. This was not your typical show where any soap actor could be replaced. Sanaya and Barun, PH, SP, etc - you were creative enough to create more than that. Your unprecedented connection to the viewers had a price. It was the couple (Arhi) the viewers connected with, and ALWAYS had to be them and them alone.
With viewers, there is only one rule - you keep up the momentum, you keep the viewers. The audience is always right. If it falls short for whatever reason, it falls. The PH has a history of not being able to finish a project as well as it starts it because they can't juggle more than one show at a time. You can't compromise on the budget or commitment to one show just because there is another. PS the other one is looking quite good for now. Please don't repeat the cycle with that one. Again, show us the product well and we will buy. Don't tell us to just support you like you have these past few days.
Viewers are the customers, not the employers, so the burden of 200 families falls on the employers' shoulders. Hopefully the PH gainfully employs all those hurt by this cancellation. As a viewer, I can only wish you all well.
The brilliance of this couple will never be repeated again, that is what strikes me hard at the end of the day.
Mary.
