On the occasion of Bengali New Year, actress Adrija Roy, who is currently seen in the popular show Anupamaa, shares her heartfelt thoughts and beautiful memories of Poila Baisakh.
“Poila Baisakh is very special to me because it feels like a fresh start in life,” she says. “It is not just a new date, it is a new feeling. It brings positivity, hope, and happiness. I feel very connected to my roots on this day.” She adds that growing up, she has always seen the festival being celebrated with love, warmth, and togetherness. “Even now, no matter how busy I am, I try to take out time and feel that same emotion. It reminds me to be thankful and start the year with a clean heart.”
Talking about her rituals, she says, “I like to keep things simple. I wake up early and wear traditional clothes, mostly a white and red saree. I start my day by thanking Durga Maa and asking for her blessings.” She adds with a smile, “My mom makes my favourite dishes like shukto and aloo posto, which is our festive food every year. And of course, I make sure to connect with my family, because togetherness is the most important part for me.”

Sharing her plans for this year, she says, “I have a off on 15th April, and I want to keep the day peaceful.
