Finally saw SOTY last night!
Before I give my review let me warn you that I love the Kjo fluffy movies he makes. I just sit back, take in the grandeur and sing along to the songs!😆
And with SOTY it was no different. I must admit, although i had seen the promos, I thought the 3 leads were just OK but they completely surprised me in the movie.
First the movie itself. Well, I think alot of people already said it but there wasnt anything new in the story. We've seen it all before. Rich boy meets poor boy, they fight, then become best friends, end up loving the same girl and then fight it out till the end.
But KJo' treatment of movies is always so much fun! The songs, the wedding, the dances. I was thoroughly entertained by all of it.
Alia Bhatt is a cute actress but she had the weakest role. But I thought she did fine with what she had to work with. And the film itself is more of a bromance than a romance. I must admit whenever, her scenes came on with either of the guys I was waiting for them to finish so I could see more of the 2 boys bonding.😆 But saying that she wasnt bad at all. Plus she has such a pretty smile that lights up the screen.
Now the big question, Varun or Siddhanth?
And I still dont know if I can answer the question. I thought they were both terrific for their first movie. Varun dances like a dream! Even my hubby was impressed. But Sid had the softer role and you really sympathised with him. And they both looked amazing!!
Boman Iranis son just reminded me of his dad so much. He was good too.
Finally bollywood has got new actors who are good looking and can act and dance and I think that its really good that we get to watch a new generation of actors.
I loved all the songs and the picturisations. There were some remixes of old songs too. Kajol in her 20 second appearance dazzled the screen.
All in all, me and my whole family enjoyed the movie and we all came out smiling away.
