As a writer I would say that although I write firstly for the love of writing still the only reason I write at the pace I do for what it may be is coz of the feedback I get. If I like something I read I would leave a feed back. For me even a simple I liked it comment is valuable. I guess we share our stories freely so I dunno of its a demand we can And it may be that most people might not like what we have written and hence they do not comment. I guess it might be kinder not to say anything and also sometimes people are busy or might not be able to express their feelings well so they press like button.

But what I would request is so many people request writers to send the a heads up when a new chapter is up on IF in a form of a Pm. People who do ask for those the least the can do is comment coz not only is the writer updating a story but taking the trouble to send you updates which takes more time.

Given that if you become disinterested simply remove yourself from the buddy list it's a system which works for both I guess and causes less dissapointment for both parties.

But in general if you do enjoy a particular writers work and regularly read I think it's only fair we give our feedback it's a beautiful gesture and I am sure will make everyone feel really good.

I used to read a lot of OS, luckily most of them are good, but some are really bad, but cannot mark our displeasure as for me i don't feel good in doing so. I am a silent reader (don't hit me for that), but sometimes cannot resist myself from commenting certain works. It is not a deliberate act, a kind of habituated with that. Sometimes, I used to get stunned by the creativity of the ppl in the forum, really epic pieces of creativity and often used to think, I am all consuming things from here, but cannot give back. So, as you said it should be appreciated. The only one sad thing is whenever I read an os (mature love kind), i cannot read that just because of the detailing in that (really imaginative ppl) because the face of arnav and khushi will come to my mind and i will stop reading immediately. I cannot do that (I am not complaining, but I believe they should not detail that much). I love their romance sequence and the way the writers give details of the room, situation etc, but if it gets too intimate, that gives me difficulty. Please don't think, i am saying something against them, they are free to do and express their creativity, i was expressing what I feel with that. ONCE AGAIN DON"T FEEL BAD FOR WHAT I WROTE.

DEFINITELY IT IS TO BE APPRECIATED OR CRITICIZED OR AT LEAST EVEN COMMENTED.

So true... I send over 300 PMs and only get barely 100 likes... it's a piss off because we take our time out of the day and PM all our Buddies only to get what? Not even 100 likes 😔

Thank you for the post 🤗

To all silent readers as a non-writer myself, as an avid FF reader, appreciative fan, quite an active commenter and now a stalker of many many lovely, talented stories i say i understand maybe we cant comment on every post coz we may not agree or simply have nothing to say...but let it not stop u always..
try to put in two words to the TM coz a lot of effort , thought and talent goes in doing that...a word of appreciation or atleast our own opinions !

res.

*EDIT*

i havent written anything till date bt i do understand ur predicament. yes all writers do deserve the appreciation fr the effort they have put in, not because wht they have written is good or bad bt because they have racked their brain and came up with something that they want to share with us. i WAS a silent reader myself bt then cudnt control myself to appreciate the great things that i have read so far😃i am quite a regular commenter NOW and hit like at times when i remember to😳 warna i definately drop a comment for appreciation cuz i know u guys go through ALOT writing all these great stories on our favourite characters and carrying LIFE along with y'all. 😊

abt ppl who comment once in a blue moon and ask fr pms i wud lyk to say to them that please have a heart to appreciate people's efforts😊

Am a writer and a reader - silent and vocal both :) So hopefully my view will be taken objectively

On the FF I finished last, I had a reader who always pressed the "Like" button for each update. Never commented. Never asked for PMs but still was always there reading my story.

A little bit of me focused on writing the next chapter well enough for her to comment. It never happened and I have to admit, there was a time when I got very, very angry with her. After all, how difficult is to write a couple of lines about what you thought of the update.

But when I read your post today, I got thinking.

And that is when I realized.

I hated this woman but I never paid any attention to the fact that this woman never needed to be informed about my update. SHe was always there, always reading, always liking.

Maybe my work wasn't powerful enough to make her break her silence

Maybe in the future I will write something that she will be forced to comment on.

I hate how frustrating it is. But it keeps me going. And I am still waiting :)

A biiiggg HI to all d amazing writers here,

i jus copied my comment which i made for"open letter to silent readers"-which was also regarding d same.

i'v been here for past 8-9 months,i used to comment on everything i read in my earlier dayz.,but later ven i felt d writers don't show any kind of response to my comments i left commenting.
i don't ask d writers to reply for every comment of a reader, but that can b done once in a while. As u witers expect us to comment on ur work,v do need their response "ATLEAST A THK U"(to know that u hav read wht v hav written)

& wht makes me really mad is,' ven a writer likes a post which is only RESERVED'
itz happened with me,(more than a couple of times)i do read most of d updates in my phone,so ven i really luv d writing i res a place to comment later but before i comment that was liked by the writer, that makes it clear d writer is not going to b bac to chk my comment.so that's d reason i request d writers to respond to d comments jus by atleast posting a thx & not by jus liking d post.

i'm not posting here to hurt anyone ,i alwayz wanted to make this point.

Res. I swear Im gonna return I have a bunch of stuff to say!

Ok Im back , Im definitely a reader, and not a writer, however I do understand how annoying it can get when you see the correlation between the number of views on your post, to the number of likes and comments.
I mean a person has put effort into creating a different, maybe interesting post for you, and all you do is just read it! I mean come on man, at least acknowledge that you read it, by liking it!
As for the the stories, sometimes I'll read a story thats just horrible and well thats when I decide its better to save the author from my harsh words that I dont want to make flowery, and its best that I just say nothing at all, and not even like the post. Ye, that seems mean, but hey a person is going to make a post! Atleast try to make sure the grammar is good, or the storyline moves forward at a good pace, make sure theres continuity all that good stuff.

Im sure peple don't mind what you say, as long as you try and say something, I mean its the internet people shouldn't be afraid to post their opinions! Yes the internet can be a scary place, but it can also be an awesome place!

Hi,
I read your comment on the other post and really liked it😊
(I would have liked your comment if the like button was not behaving so strangely!!!)
Now, back to the topic, I have personally experienced the 'rudeness' of the post makers. We take time to comment on their post and we dont get back anything in return. I am even okay with a 'like' but they just dont have the courtesy to do even that.
BTW, I was a silent reader and have started to open up lately😊

I was a silent reader for a very long time. One fine day I decided to register and then again after several months I started getting involved.I completely agree with what you have said.If someone is appreciating your hard work,it gives more motivation to continue/improve-my POV.
