We've all been discussing the similarities vs differences between the two films.

I found it interesting that the cast of Heroine was also grilled about that fact, but in a more fun filled way, especially the vidya vs Kareena questions, considering Siddhart Roy Kapoor is producing Heroine 😉

For anyone who was unaware as I was, Sidharth is dating Vidya.

At 50 seconds, Kareena's asked if Heroine is her "Dirtiest" movie ever 😆

they are killing their own film with the comparisons, it looks like they look hungry to be compared, but it will prove a dent in the opening and long run today's audiences are very smart they will not put bucks on something they are very sure at. and Also kareena hasn't done a women centric film in years and her audience pull is not tht strong, Chameli was a commercial failure. so it needs to be seen what actually happens.

i hope they release a new trailer and get out from the shadow of TDP and fashion

^ I agree. The only thing that is refreshing in the trailer is that a mainstream eye candy actress is playing the protagonist, i.e Kareena. The trailer would have had 250 million views by now if it would have release prior to TDP. They better improve the next trailer or else the hype would fizzle out soon :(

You think the cast of Heroine WANTS to be compared to The Dirty Picture?
Its the JOURNALISTS throwing questions at them.

WHy The Dirty Picture alone? The question before The Dirty Picture one was about a comparison to Sheila Ki Jawani, so its not like TDP is anything unique.

Twitter's also comparing it to Fashion, so its not like Heroine team is purposely drawing comparisons.

But whatever they did show in the trailer, SOMETHING worked, coz the views the trailer's garnered is spectacular for a heroine centric film.

i don't know desigal but the trailer of the film draws out and out comparisons and I can't blame the journos everytime.

oh yeah few months I heard a preview was released of 20 secs of Heroine in which people were raving tht it looks so marvellous etc etc, i have forgotten tht thing 😕 i don't think the actual trailer comes even close. i would like to watch that 20 sec preview instead. may be its much better

The anticipation for the movie had a big factor in all those youtube views. People dont ever see the eye-candy actresses as the hero of the movie so that helped a lot. But if Madhur keeps showing the same old TDP deja vu trailers, then that could work against the movie :(

OR, it could work in favor.

The reason TDP pulled the masses is because the trailer was ENTERTAINING. It was COLORFUL, and promised a lotta laughs, and masala in a different way.

I'll compare the scenario to the much darker Saat Khoon Maaf trailer.

Brilliant theatrical trailer, but...look at the fate of the film. Forget fate, just look at the opening.

^ You're right. So basically, the success of TDP paved the way for women oriented movies. So people are now more accepting of such movies.

So if this movie flops, it's because it had a been there done that feeling (TDP). and if it succeeds, then it's because TDP and Kahaani's success improved the odds of women oriented movies.

The problem is the trailer of Heroine isnt as entertaining as TDP trailer. There was too much going on in the Heroine trailer with a fleeting glimpse of everyone. While the TDP trailer was about all the important characters. It was funny and it had good recall value thanks to Vidya's and Naseer's acting chops. Whereas the Heroine trailer goes as - Look at Kareena, she's in this film.
