Part 4

Angad walked into the house in sweat pants, sweating. His orange juice was waiting for him, on his desk, in the study when he entered. He sat on his brown leather chair and picked up the glass of juice and smiled. This was one habit of his he could transform. Juice was everyday, the first thing that entered his stomach. With that he remember that Kripa was sleeping a few doors away. He placed the glass down and stood up.

Quivering, his hand finally reached the door knob; he slowly turned it. Gradually, rather not wanting to wake her up, Angad opened the bedroom door, slightly, but didn't look inside. Not yet. If Kripa was the same Kripa eight years ago she would still be sleeping as it was only six in the morning. However, more importantly, a Saturday morning.

He took a glimpse at the bed. Upon seeing Kripa's tiny body still inside the soft pink quilt he opened the door wider and stepped inside.

He gasped, she was still as beautiful as he had left her. But, he did notice, even with her eyes closed, she looked pale. She was worried, perhaps? Well, Prithvi had made that clear. Hand in hand, she was still recovering from her accident, which Angad knew, would take sometime.

Now he sat on the edge of the bed and looked at her. A strand of her hair was bugging her, and her eyes were fluttering. "Maybe she was waking up", Angad thought. He certainly didn't want that to happen. To prevent it, he brushed the strand off her face, and watched it drop to the pillow, gracefully. She turned, and Angad oh-so-quickly, stood. Soon, she settled again and Angad turned to leave. Only he was forced to look back yet again. He smiled and left.

After finishing his juice, and taking a lengthy shower, Angad stepped into his room to check on Priya. She was awake, dressed, and stood in front of Angad with an envelope.

"Well, well, well!" Angad started moving toward her. "What do we have here?" He tried to take the envelope from her but the little girl backed off.

"Good morning, Dad."

"Well, a good morning to you as well, daughter. Now, what's that?"

"Something!"

"Something, huh?" She nodded. "Alright, how about we fix up some breakfast."

"It's been taken care of."

"Really? Where?"

Priya held her little hand out, and Angad held it. "Let me escort you." She walked her father to the balcony of his room, and opened the curtains. "Your breakfast is served sir." She looked up at a shocked Angad, and smiled. "Like it Daddy?"

Angad let out a long, in awe, sigh. "I don't like it, I love it." If front of him was small white table, beautifully decorated with a blue center piece, and his breakfast around it.

He walked to the table and sat down, while Priya stood beside him. "What would you like first?"

He looked at her fair skin, and brown eyes. "Well, to start with, a kiss." He moved his cheek forward and she covered it with her soft, lips. "I love you."

"Me too."

"Now, can I know what this is for?"

"Well, today is fathers day!"

"Really?" She nodded, and Angad looked at his watch. "It is! And, who helped you with this."

"Well, I was going to ask the Maids, but then I asked Aaliya Bua."

"And, where is she now?"

"Back to sleep!"

"Good! Now lets have breakfast." He picked her up and placed her in his lap. "Now, what's in the envelope?"

"Tickets."

"For?"

"Movies."

"Which one?"

"Cars."

"For?"

"Whenever you want."

"How about the last show tonight?"

"Works for me." She winked, and smiled. "Now, are you ready?"

He looked at the table, "only if my princess is."

"Dad this is your day not mine!"

"Well, if you wouldn't have been here, my only daughter, I wouldn't be a father. So it's our day!"

"Alright, then how about a sip from your tea today?"

"Smart, but no." He pressed her nose and laughed.

**********

Around nine, when Angad and Priya reached down stairs, Aaliya, and Prithvi were enjoying their breakfast.

"Good Morning" Angad greeted, then bending to kiss his sister, like before.

"Morning," they both greeted back.

"And thanks Aaliya, the breakfast was absolutely, amazing."

She smiled, "Well, this one helped me." Aaliya looked at a smiling Priya.

"I could tell from the burnt bread!"

"Daddy!"

"I'm kidding. You should get ready if you want to go with me! Now hurry."

Within seconds she was gone.

Angad sat down and picked up an apple, to play with, not eat. "Is she up?"

"She has a name," Prithvi told him.

Angad exhaled, "Is Kripa awake."

"Much better, and yes she is."

"Did, Kripa have breakfast?"

"No, she didn't, she should be getting here."

"Alright. When's her first appointment?"

"We have to find a suitable clinic."

"Well, there are many, and I've got a list, you guys have the pick. I would choose the one closest from here, as most of them are ran by the same companies and most of the same doctors. They rotate according to their appointments. The rest is up to you all." Angad watched Priya enter from one side, with Angad's keys and cell phone in her hands, and he also noticed Kripa exit her room.

"Priya be care- damn!"

"Too late!" Aaliya smiled.

Priya was on the floor, shocked, and Kripa bending beside her trying to figure out what just happened. "What did I do?" Kripa asked,

"Knocked my daughter on the floor." Angad said, with a half smile. "Anyways, both of you are ok. And nothing broke."

"Your phone did Daddy."

"Oh well, at least you're ok. And, Ms. Khanna, are you ok?"
"First, why do you call me Ms. Khanna. I feel like a old lady, rather teacher, being addressed by a student."

"Then shall I call you Clumsy? Or careless?"

"Well, in that case I can call you brainless. A ill-mannered man, who can't even help a lady up. Rather, a blind lady."

Anagd looked at her angry. "Well, lady, you haven't been declared blind just yet." He took possession of her arm and helped her stand. "And, I'll see to it, that it doesn't happen."

"Excuse me?"

"I'm sorry I should say that, now if you excuse me, I have a phone to repair, or shall I usher you to the breakfast table."

"Unless you don't mind me damaging something more expensive. I really wouldn't mind."

Angad rolled his eyes, groaned at the same time, and then held her arm and took her to the table. "Prithvi, you are responsible!"

He blinked at his behavior.

"Lets go Priya."

"Daddy, can I stay home?"

Angad turned and looked at Priya who was looking at her mother. Angad sighed. "Yes, you may. But please remember what I told you. You will, right?"

"Yes."

Angad kissed her goodbye, "I'll be back in time for our movie."

"I'll wait for you."

Angad now looked at Kripa. She was pretending not to listen, but more than anyone Angad knew she was. He also knew exactly what was in her mind at the moment. He shook and then left.

"Is he a human or a machine gun? Gosh!"

Priya giggled as Kripa continued Mumbling to herself. "I'm sorry, I didn't notice that you were coming this way."

"Are you taking to me?" Kripa asked her.

"Um… yes."

Kripa smiled and held her hand out, "It's ok!" Aaliya and Prithvi left the table, as Kripa embraced Priya. "I'm alright."

"Can I help you with your breakfast?" She asked politely.

"Well, if you can."

"I can. I help Daddy every morning."

"Well, that's nice of you. But how about your Mom?"

Priya looked at Kripa for a few seconds. "She doesn't live with us." The room was silent for a few seconds. "Would you like cereal or toast?"

"Cereal would do, thanks." Priya placed the bowl in front of Kripa and placed the spoon in her hand. "Thanks beta, I'm sorry I'm making you do this."

"It's ok, but I have a question."

"What?"

"What do I call you? I mean how do I address you?"

"Anything you want. You're like a daughter to me. And, I don't even know your name."

"Priya."

Kripa's smile vanished. "Priya. You know I have a daughter, and I named her Priya as well." She finished her breakfast and the stood up. "Can you help me to my room?"

"How about we explore the house? That way you know the place."

"That's a good idea. Your, father, was suppose to do that, but he obviously forgot."

"I'm sorry about that, Dad is a little temperamental sometimes."

"Well, that's very unlike Angad. I can't believe he was friends with Yash. I feel sorry for you, beta."

Priya giggled. "Why?"
"You have to live with your father alone."

Priya took Kripa's hand and they started walking towards the stairs. "Be careful, the stairs start here."

"Thanks."

"And, Dad has never been temperamental with me. In fact, the only time he got angry with me was when I cut my finger with a knife a few years ago."

"Ouch! Any one would be angry. Then I don't understand why he's so awkward with me."

Priya kept quite, and they finished climbing on the stairs. "We are now in the foyer. If you go to the left, you will find all the bedrooms, if you go to the right, you will find the second library, Dad's office, the music room, my study, and a another guest room. Where would you like to go first?"

"Where you like to spend most of your time."

"Well, I'm mostly in Dad's office, library or his room."

"Let me guess you're a Daddy's girl?!"

"Well if Mom was here it might have been different, but because I only live with Dad, I really had no other choice. And, I love my Dad, and I like being 'Daddy's Girl.'

Kripa smiled, "Then how about we start from your Dad's room."

"All right. You can count steps so you know how far it is from where the stairs end."

"Good idea." They both walked, and counted each step they took. Finally when they reached Angad's room they stopped.

"Dad's room, but we can't do inside."

"Um.. It's ok, I cant see anything anyways."

"Well, that's not the point."

"Ok, so now, whose room is next?"

"Mine, but between my room and Dad's room there's like a little hall way, which has pictures of my Dad, and My mom, and me. When I was really small. And then my room."

"Well, it seems like you Dad still really loves your Mom."

Priya sighed, "Lets count." About a minute later, they counted to fifty. "Here is my room, and then there's a T.V. room, and like a billion other rooms."

"Ok explain something to me. Why did you guys buy such a huge house when only three people lived here?"

"I don't know. We used to live in a small house, with one room. Really tiny. Daddy said, he wanted to give me everything, so he bought a big house. I have everything here, my own little theater, a room filled with teddy bears that Dad got me over the years, we have a Swimming Pool, that's shaped like a heart, and we a tennis court, and we have a mini golf course."

"Wow!" Kripa gasped. "I would love to see this house again once I got my eyes back. That's if I ever do."

"Oh you will alright."

Kripa smiled, "How do you know that?"

Priya pulled Kripa's hand and dragged her into the den, and they both sat down on the sofa. "'cause Dad will make sure of that. Everyone here knows him here, and he says, 'I always do/get the best!'"

"Now that sounds like someone I know."

"Now, where are we?"

"In the den."

"No I mean where in New York are we."

"We are in Queens, New York."

"Ah! I came here for my honeymoon with Angad."

"Yeah, Dad told me." Priya bit her tongue. "I mean, Dad told me that he came here as well."

"What do you look like Priya."

"Well, Daddy says I'm the second most beautiful girl."

"Oh! Then whose first?" She asked laughing.

"Well, according to my Dad my Mom. And, I agree."
"Well that's nice of you. But I don't know what you look like."

"I think I look a lot like you." Priya Whispered.

Kripa looked confused. "In what ways."

"My eyes color is like you, and so is my hair color." Priya looked at Kripa carefully. "And, I think everything else I have is Dad's. But Dad begs to differ."

"Well, you Dad begs to differ on every topic."

Priya and Kripa both laughed now. "Where did you Dad go anyways?"

"Well, I don't exactly know. But he works from home normally."

"And, what does he exactly do."

"Well, almost every hotel in New York is owned by my Daddy, and if its not he has something called a share in it. And, if neither he says sooner or later he will."

"Ah! Sounds very much like him."

"Well, that's my Dad."

I hope you guys enjoyed the part.

Coming Up:  Kripa and Angad are left at home alone, as they confront each other's problems.

Hugs and Kisses,

Neha 😊
