What an episode.
You see heartbreak, healing, shattering, rebellion, anger, resolve' a tirade of emotions really, and all under a mere 20 minutes.
This is our show, our actors, our writers, our director and every single person who had a hand in making today's episode as brilliant as it was, at their best.
So, so, so proud right now to be a part of this family.
Manvi sees locks of her hair in her sister's hand and her world changes. The curtains snap shut and suddenly her world is in darkness. There is no light. No light at all. Her disease just became real enough to slap her in the face again. Body aches and breathlessness and lumbar punctures she could handle. But this' this blow was directed towards her sense of self alone. It was directed towards her strength, her confidence, her dreams. The first time that had truly happened had been when she had realized she could not confess her love to Virat. Then too the lights in her world had flickered and died away and today it had happened again. She, like every other girl, loved her hair, loved feeling beautiful. To take that away from her just killed a part of Manvi. Perhaps killed the last remnants of the girl who loved life and who lived to make others laugh and to see them smile.
Does that mean that the disease finally won? No. No because Manvi Chaudhary is unbreakable. She tells her sister she wants her hair to be completely removed. The determined, almost fierce yet still slightly dead look in her eyes' Amazing job by Nia there. The process begins and she shuts every thought, every fear out. She refuses to break, to see the consequences of what she had just asked of her sister. Control. Control is what she is about right now. It's the only thing she is about right now as she sits, her heart and her mind frozen as she refuses to both think and feel.
Talking about Jeevika, Krystle nailed her in these last two episodes. You see her breaking and then you see her strength. Manvi needs that strength and she must be strong for her sister. When she's handed the bag containing Manvi's hair, she holds onto it and cries because it wasn't just her sister's hair. It was her sister's strength, her spirit, her laughter, her dreams' all of it in single bag. When Manvi asks Jeevika she wants to see herself in a mirror you see the struggle within Jeevika. The struggle to help her sister face the dark reality that her life had become or to simply protect her from it. Her mind and her heart are locked in a fierce tussle here. And there is no winner. She cannot, would not hurt and break her sister in a way that was so' final. Her mind cannot decide and so all she does is tell her sister that things weren't as bad as she thought. That her hair would be back, more beautiful than before, that this was the on-going fashion and she'd fit right in. That she need not worry at all. That everything would be fine' Fine. A 4 letter word that holds no meaning anymore. Not for Manvi, not for Jeevika and certainly not for Virat.
Manvi, once again Nia! What do I say about this girl! She continues to stun me. You see the fear in her eyes and then you see the anger and the rebellion. You see her disgust not just with what she had become but a loathing of that very fear and perhaps of that small shred of hope that maybe, just maybe she didn't look so bad. How dare she dream of that possibility? Why couldn't she just accept the reality of the disease that had taken hold of her body? Why was this such a big deal? She had made it this far hadn't she? She could face this too.
It's that very loathing that gives birth to the grim resolve in her when she takes hold of the mirror and makes herself look into it. The truth is terrifying for Manvi. She flings the mirror away and breaks into her sister's arms. No she is not strong enough. Not anymore. I loved Jeevika here! I loved her as her sister's, her baby's guardian. Loved the fierceness of her promises to protect Manvi from the world for as long as she needs it.
"Tera har kaam main karu gi, teri Didi kare gi!" was just heartbreaking for some reason.
Her reflection towards Manvi's words about the day was incredibly sad as well. Just breaks you from within and I was so relieved when Virat arrived and she hugged him for comfort. She knew Virat would understand, that Virat would feel the same pain that she did now because even if she doesn't know how she feels about it yet she knows that Virat too loves her sister as much as she does. You see her seeking that strength that he has always shown because she herself is so empty of it. Virat and Jeevika need to stand together if they are to help Manvi in fighting her illness and everything that comes with it. Manvi is their common ground, they, especially Jeevika, needs to understand that because it is no longer a requirement, it is a necessity. Manvi needs all the light in the world at the moment and the two together can provide that because THEY are Manvi's world. I'm thankful to see signs of that understanding over here just like they were exhibited in the scene from Thurday's episode when she sees the undeterred lover that Virat Vadhera has become, taking the mirror out of the room. She sees how he is as fiercely protective of her as she is and how he will not make excuses for loving her and for making sure that her mind is at peace and she is happy and whole. She had understood that last night and so the comfort she seeks from Virat made perfect sense.
Virat! Everyday I just love this guy more. I loved how he prays in the morning. You see how he is ready to believe in anything just for the sake of Manvi. His past had made him close the doors that lead to that divine entity who will listen to you and help you in a way no one can and Manvi's illness is the sole thing in all these years that has made him seek that help, that comfort, that miracle that only God can work. When he sees the bag of hair, he freezes. The nightmare had come earlier than he had anticipated.
Manvi.
That's all he cares about because that is all he Virat is about. Manvi, Manvi, Manvi.
Her happiness, her content' everything .Their worlds are joined and hers cannot shatter without leaving his' intact.
He tries to enter her room, tries to get her to talk to him because he understands her mind, her heart. She had confessed her fears to him in the past and he knew how broken she'd be. And he had to, he simply had to take care of her, to soothe her fears away because that is all he knows. He had said that he always wanted to see her at the top of this world hadn't he? He had promised her that he would never let her fall from that place hadn't he? He must live upto that promise now. He must make her see that nothing had changed. That as long as her soul and her heart were intact nothing would change. Ever.
I loved how he sat down by the door, instantly getting up later on with the hope of being allowed to see his Manvi. His need to see her becomes stubborn now and he refuses to listen to Manvi's request and to respect it. Manvi's line "Jab main apne aap ko nahi dekh sakti tou tum kaise dekho gey?" was so beautiful and sad and so apt as a reflection of what they shared because Manvi has never seen herself in the same light as Virat does. She doesn't see the miracle that she is for Virat, she doesn't understand her own beauty or sees the light that that beauty has proved to be for Virat Vadhera and so its no surprise that Virat's resolve only increases. He has to make her see herself under that light, he has to heal her of this wound, he has to take care of her. She is his Manvi afterall.
Jeevika's quiet realization that Manvi is in love with Virat was brilliantly done. I love how simple it was.
Virat grabbing the first chance he gets to enter the room and shutting the door behind him was very in-character of him. He has never cared for rules and he certainly does not right now. Manvi's horror upon him seeing her in this state was so heartbreaking!! Like my sister said in her post, she truly looked like a terrified animal here. Her small form as she hides the reality of her life from the man she is in love with, terrified at the thought of losing him because of it was a quiet tragedy in itself. Ah, Manvi. If only you knew which part of you Virat fell in love with.
Virat forcing Manvi to turn towards him and lifting her dupatta as he tells her that she's the most beautiful girl in the world for him was so beautiful!! Firstly, I LOVED Kushal's acting here. There was something so incredibly beautiful about the love written all across Virat's face. You see his soul there, bare and naked to the world, all of the love inside spilling through and reflecting not only in his words but shouting through his eyes and through his face. You see so clearly how he really is completely and thoroughly in love with Manvi. That love is a very small word to define what Virat Vadhera feels for Manvi.
There are seven stages of love as defined in Arabic literature, three of these stages are Ishq, Ebadat(Worship) and Junoon (Obsession).
Ishq or love, reverence and a quiet obsession is what Virat Vadhera is about.
He loves Manvi, he reveres her in a way that for him she is elevated to a higher pedestal, nothing can ever be wrong with her and he will never ever let her fall. His obsession? His obsession is to take care of her, to make her happy, to stop her from breaking. That is Virat's obsession, he does not want anything from her save for the fact that she live and be strong and whole.
His words speak of that and she allows herself to smile before shutting him out again. She lets out her fears again, her heart can never not reach out to his afterall. He shakes his head, wanting, needing to take her pain away but he cant. He knows Manvi. Manvi has never set store by words alone. He had tried that but she had shut him out. He tried to tell her of his love but she hadn't listened.
So what does he do now?
He shows his love to her. He shows her that she is not alone, not now, not ever.
"Tumhari bemari ab meri bemari hain."
This is the vow Virat Vadhera lives upto when he shaves his head. This is the darkness he embraces with open arms as the razor does its job. Manvi will not be alone. He cannot allow that despair, that pain to feed on her soul and destroy it.
They are together in this and they always will be.
Who needs a damn confession?
*Oh my love, if its all I can do,
I'll take the fall for you,
For I will soar when I lay down with you,
Give my all for you.*
