Anyways here's the next chapter, but yes, before that, let me inform you all that this is the high point of this story (my stories are always short, so bear with me please😳). Another thing, I'm NOT going to include the preview since I shall be stuck again if I do so. 😆
Chapter Seven
Frightened of the Past
Opening her eyes and not finding Mohan by her side, she was confused. "Mohan," she called out but her own voice echoed in the empty room. She turned her head and glanced at the alarm clock on the side table. "Abhi toh sirf 7am baje hai aur Mohan toh 9am office jaata hai naa, toh abhi kaha hai?" she wondered.
Just then, her phone beeped. Megha held it and read on the screen, '1 new chat message from Mohan Bhatnagar!'
"Accha ji..sir ko meethi mirchi se baat karni hai.." she smiled amusingly and logged in.

Meethi mirchi: Good morning buddyyy!! 😃
Mohan smiled as he looked at his laptop's screen and read Meethi Mirchi's reply.
Mohan: Good morning yaar. Abhi bhi so rahi hai kya?? Uth jaldi. Mujhe tujhse baat karni hai.
Megha raised her brows. "Kahi mere baare mein toh--"
Meethi mirchi: Kya hua? Itna sada hua serious mu kyun banaake rakkha hai?? Problem kya hai bey? 😕
Sighing, Mohan leaned against the couch and closed his eyes. The flashbacks of Megha coming back home, promising him to win back his love and all other moments they had after they met again appeared in his mind. Tears glittered his eyes. "Dil toh yehi chahta hai ki sab pehele jaisa ho jaaye par yeh dimaag bar bar wahi past yaad karta hai jo--" he chose not to think further, and so, he wiped off his tears.
Mohan: Kya hum mil sakte hai pls?? Mujhe ek friend ki bohot zaroorat hai and i know you're the only one who can support me!!
Megha understood that her presence in home was disturbing Mohan a lot. She felt upset and guilty. "Samajh mein nahi aa raha ki kya bolu--" she said to herself, baffled.
Mohan kept his laptop on the center table. "Nanhi ke school ka waqt ho gaya. Usse utha deta hoon jaldi se.." he told himself and ascended upstairs.
Megha was in a deep confusion. "Mohan waisey bhi bohot pareshaan hai mujhe leke, upar se usse yeh chupaana ki main hi meethi mirchi hoon---"
"Megha!" She heard a stiff, stern and cold voice from the doorway and startled, she looked towards that direction.
Mohan was standing, shocked and dumbfounded. He remembered the friendly and flirtatious conversations he had with his friend, his meethi mirchi with whom he met on internet and grew a strange sort of attraction. "Meethi mirchi.." he barely spoke.
Megha got up from the bed and just froze. She herself wanted to reveal the truth and didn't even think in her dreams that everything would turn out in this way.
Mohan walked towards her with a hurt expression.
"Mohan,listen to me first and then--"
"Ssshhh!" he put his finger on Megha's lips. He was standing so close to her,making her heartbeat raise. "Tumse alag hone ke baad main mar gaya tha Megha. Phir der mahina pehele internet pe Meethi mirchi se mila. Pata ni kyun but woh apni si lagti thi mujhe.." he paused and pulled his finger away. They had an eye lock. Tears flowed down their cheeks but neither of them moved an inch. Intensity prevailed.
"Kyun dhoka dia Megha?? Ek hi toh dost thi meri, jisse main apni baatein share karta tha aur jo mera akelaapan dur karti thi.." Mohan felt weak and his voice was shaken.
Megha hugged him,as tightly as she could,to comfort him in the best way possible, and surprising to her,Mohan responded positively. He pulled her close and wrapped his arms securely around her. "Kitni nafrat karne ki koshish ki lekin--" he was vulnerable.
They broke the hug after a few minutes. Megha gently pecked his forehead, while Mohan simply closed his eyes. He stood fragile, frightened of facing the reality.
"Main tumhare family k rules k mutaabik nahi chal sakti. Meri apni life style hai and i can't leave that. Issi liye tumhe mujhe aur apne bhaia-bhabhi k beech mein kisi ek ko choonna hoga. Mere saath mere ghar chalo, ya phir raho idhar humesha k liye, akele."
Mohan opened his eyes in a jerk. The thing that he feared overcame his mind again - his terrible past. The moment when Megha gave him the biggest pain of his life by asking him to choose between his love and his parents-like brother and sister-in-law. The moment when she left him when he, with a heavy heart, chose his family over her. The moment when his dearest bhaia and bhabhi met with an accident while going to Megha's house to bring her back for his happiness. For him, the wound of losing his God-like family was unhealed again. He stepped backwards and felt numb.
"Mohan!" Megha forwarded her hand for support.
"Dur raho mujhse!" Mohan rudely shouted and sprang her hand away. "Main kabhi nahi bhul sakta ki tumhare uss ek decision ki vajah se meri puri life tehez nehez hogayi. Kash bhaia aur bhabhi tumhe vapas laane na gaye hote toh aaj main aur Nanhi anaath nahi--" he covered his palm, overwhelmed in pain, and broke down on the floor. Megha stood there, helpless as she knew that she couldn't console him. She silently cried.
Nanhi, standing at the door, looked on, while tears continued to gush from her eyes at a rocket speed. "Spiderman!" she whispered in the midst of her sobs.
