Part 15:
They were seated at a first class section in the plane. As the plane took off, Geet got scared looking outside the window. The airport was slowly fading away. She clutched on to Maan's arm, tearing his skin with her nails. Maan just politely held on to her hands. This was her first time getting on an airplane. Her heart clutched as the plane took off, leaving the surface and in to the sky, hiding itself behind the shallow clouds. Geet looked outside, unable to help herself.
"Geet, tum jitna bahar daikho gi tumhay utna hi dar lagay ga aur meri skin utni hi kharab ho jaaye gi."
Realizing now, Geet slowly lets go of his arm.
"Tumhay pata hai Geet, main aik CEO of Khurana Constructions, mere staff members kya kahen gai when they'll see my arm like this, All bruised. Akhir meri image aur class hai."
Geet just took out a magazine to read, trying to ignore Maan as embarrassment rushed through her heart. Maan fell for her ignorance. In fact, kind of hurt from inside.
"Never mind. Tumhay kya pata yeh class aur image kya ho gi. Jahan se tum aayi ho, it's not your fault. Mere baare main kabhi socha kero. Your every action will be held with me. So I like to avoid the embarrassment."
I allowed her to dig her nails in my arm leaving bruises, and she is ignoring me? Maan got his headphones and watched the tv ignoring her just as she was. Geet covered her face with the magazine trying to read but in reality, tears were coming out. Geet woh teri her waqt insult kerte hain and you? That's it. She saw a bell button right above the seat and she clicked on it. An air hostess came running.
"Yes Ma'am?"
Maan looks overs at her in confusion. Since the air hostess was an English woman.
"Geet. Jo kehna hai mujhe pata do. I know you don't know English. So pata do." Geet looks at him in anger. She bites her lip in anger, trying to control herself.
"Well sir? Is there anything she wants?"
"One sec." To Geet: "Geet kya chahiye. Bolo I'll tell her." Geet shoots an abusive look at him, making him shut up.
"She doesn't want anything." Maan tells the air hostess without letting her answer. The air hostess nods.
"Stop!" Geet yells. Maan looks at her in shock. The air hostess turns around.
"Yes Ma'am?"
"I would like to change my seat right now." Geet orders, leaving Maan in shock and awe.
"But Ma'am how can we change your seat. It's merely impossible at this moment. As there are no seats available in first class section."
"Geet kya ker rahi ho?" Ignoring his question she goes, "I don't care. Give me a seat anywhere. I'll even sit at the corner of the plane. I just don't want to sit here!"
"Alright Ma'am. Give me a second, let me check any available seats in the economy section." Geet nods and she leaves. Maan clutches her arm.
"Geet yeh kya ker rahi ho? Aur aur tumhay English aati hai. Why didn't you tell me before?"
"Hamare beech kehne sunne ka relationship tha kab?" Geet pricked his heart like a dagger.
"Geet y-yeh tum kya keh rahi ho? And why don't you wanna sit here with me?"
"Kyun ke I don't find it necessary. Mere paas to class ya image hi nahi hai. Then why do I need to sit in this first class section. Yeh to aap jaise arrogant and audacious man ko jaga suit kerti hai. Not me. Aur main waise bhi aap ki image and class ko kharab nahin kerna chahti by sitting next to you. Loug kya kahen gain? Aap ki image main to paani phir jaye gi."
"Geet you know I didn't mean that. Woh to bas main..."
Ignoring his explanation, she rose up. The air hostess comes.
"This way Ma'am." Maan holds on to her arm.
"Chodiye mujhe." People around them two stare at them, enjoying the scene held before their eyes.
"Geet saare daikh rahe hain. Drama create mat kero. Itni si choti si baat ke liye tum kyun mera aur apna tamasha khada ker rahi ho?"
"Is liye to main keh rahi hoon leave my arm. Let me leave in peace. Main aap ka tamasha kaise banne dai sakti hoon since you are the only one with class and image. I'll see you when we depart this air plane." Maan frees her arm. Geet takes her hand carry baggage and leaves with the air hostess. Maan sees Geet leaving. She disappears into the economy section leaving him all alone. Maan pounds his fists against the seat in front of him, not realizing the owner of the chair was shooting glares at him. A feeling of remorse rushed him. Without wasting another moment, Maan rose up with his baggage. He followed Geet down the Economy section. As he walked to aisle, stares from strangers grudged him. Geet ended up sitting at a two-seated seat, right next to the window, in the middle of the plane. As soon as Geet settled down, Maan abruptly came rushing for the seat, afraid that someone might take it. Geet looked at him in anger and was a little shock. Maan was not that kind of a person who would leave his comfortable and high class seat for a middle class seat like this. Geet still didn't show any sort of sympathy but ignored him, biting her lower lip.
"Geet, did you know that when you bite your lip in anger, tum kitni cute lagti ho?"This was not a usual compliment she would receive from him which startled her a little but she never showed it. Instead rage anger was filling her mind and heart. How dare he insult me like this? Aur main pagalon ki tarhan unko smilain doon? He wish. Maan just kept on looking at her not sure what to do to cheer her mood. Screw you man. Maan shouted at himself. What to do? I need to be more nice to her from now on. Kuch bhi ho jaaye. Maan secretly clutched on to her hands who were laying motionless on her lap. Geet looks at him in anger and tries to free her hand. But Maan was Maan with the strength of a powerful wrestler. Her pleads were gone missed by Maan. "Yeh aap kya ker ker rahe ho? Chode mujhe?" Geet shouts in a whisper. "Kyun apni wife ka haath pakadna guna hai?" Geet knew her pleads will not grudge him at all. Instead she stopped trying and let his hands wander on her hands. Though from inside, her heart became heavy, their regular beat increased, thumping so loudly. She was afraid that he might be able to hear her obnoxious heart thumping loudly. A smile lit Maan's face. He always wanted to hold on to her hand but never got the courage to do it so. Now was the opportunity and he will not let go of it. Geet tried to hide her smile but it was too obvious. "So Geet?" Maan wanted to start a convo with her. Since they never got the time to have the real convo. He wants to learn more about her. But Geet was not in mood. "Main movie daikhna chahti hoon. So please" Ignoring him she places her headphones on her ears, escaping this world in to another. But Maan was not a man who would let her go easily, ignoring him. He takes one ear bud out of her ears and places it into his ear. "Let's watch it together." This was a another way to learn more about her likes and dislikes when it came to movies. Showing one last glare at him, she started the movie: Bodyguard. Protesting wouldn't work cause she knows Maan likes to have things his own ways. They sat their quietly as they watched the movie. For the first time he was actually enjoying watching a movie, obviously because of her. Throughout the movie Geet's mood changed. In the beginning she was laughing and later when the movie got sad, tears started to flow down her cheeks. Maan lent his handkerchief to her. But when she didn't take it, he wiped the tears himself. Edging himself closer to her. Geet drooled over him with her teary eyes. Suddenly the song Teri Meri Prem Kahani started to play. For an instant they forgot they were in the plane. They didn't even look at the screen.
Teri Meri Prem Kahani hai Mushkil
Do Lalfzon mein yeh bayaan na ho paaye
Ik ladka aur ik ladki ki yeh kahani hai nayi
Do lafzon mein yeh bayaan na ho paaye
Instead they were lost in their own world.
Ek Dooje se huwe juda jab ek duje ke liye bane.
Teri Meri Meri teri prem kahani hai mushkil
Do lafzon main mein yeh bayaan na ho paaye.
Maan caresses her cheek with her finger. Geet unable to control herself slowly caresses his hair with her shaky hands.
Sara Din beet jaaye Sari raat jagaye, Bas khayal tumhara lamha lamha tadpaye
Yeh tadap keh rahi hai mit jaaye faaslein yeh tere mere darmiyaan jo hain saare.
A smile lit his face and upon seeing his graceful smile she smirks. Maan slowly slips his hand in hers, holding it tightly.
BANG!!
A bomb explosion in the movie snatches them away from the moment.
The song had ended without them knowing. Maan and Geet settled back at their seats, awkwardly peeking at each other. Geet tried to free her hand from his grip but he didn't budge.
Geet was back at admiring Salman Khan in one of the action scene where he was beating the crap out of the goons.
One thing that made him jealous was the numerous compliments Salman Khan received from Geet. Sometimes its his body or his sense of humor or his action or his romantic sense. There was absolutely nothing that Geet didn't like about Salman Khan which made Maan burn from inside out of jealousy. "Geet! I don't like this movie. Kitni ajeeb si hai. Koi aur daikhte hain." Maan exited out from the movie which made Geet angry. "Yeh aap ne kya kiya? Movie band ker di?? Yeh meri favorite movie hai. Salman Khan is also my favorite. Khabardaar movie ke baare main kuch kaha to. Maan! Yeh kya kiya??"Maan was startled to see her explosion over just a movie. "Hum koi aur daikhte hain. Acha koi aur achi si movie batao?"
"Ok fine but this aapne change kiya na to phir main aap se bilkul baat nahin keroon gi. okay?"
"Okay fine."
"Promise?"
Geet held out her pinky for a promise. Maan shook it while smiling. Another excuse to touch her what else does he need. "Promise." Maan confirmed. Geet switched it to Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaain gain.
Unfortunately for Maan, Shahrukh Khan was also her favorite actor. Through out the movie she passed compliments to SRK.
"He's the romantic hero and Salman Khan is the comedy and action hero!"
Maan sighed, cursing at his luck. He's probably the only unfortunate husband in this world whose wife is complimenting on other men in presence of her husband. Maan just fake smiles at her while his inside is boiling with jealousy.
The End!
