Chapter-1
The dark encounter
(written by mansa and indu)
She walked fast as the lightening hit, making her shiver. 20yrs old, she was shy, introvert but brave. she lead an uneventful life as monotonous as a frog in a well ! There was none in her family who held any good opinion of her forget high. They thought she was good for nothing. Pia knew that, and though it saddened her yet she preferred to ignore and lived in her own world of fantasies. She loved adventure, and believed one day she would set out in a journey that would change her useless life into something meaningful. The fact that she was a girl couldn't deter her spirit in any way.
As the rain came down she ran to the nearby bridge for shelter. she managed to stand in a corner n was busy in covering her books those were already wet, when a mysterious voice addressed her...
'So mysteries attract you, isn't it? hmm... not surprising though! I can understand!', pia who instantly knew it was meant for her didn't utter a single word as she never talked with strangers. but it seemed that hardly bothered the guy ,as he went on..' girls at your age thinks, danger is fasinating, and that's only because they haven't met any, but believe me once u encounter for real, you wn't, ever..!'
His deep voice suddenly became cold as he said those last words and a chill ran down her back.
Had there been any other girl, then this would have surely sealed her lips, but then it was pia, who was nothing like others and as it questioned her bravery, she coudn't control herself and retorted.. ' listen whoever you are, 'am not coward and when the time comes i will prove it..' The guy let out a hysterical laugh... pia now suddenly aware of the fact, that she was alone in a deserted place with no one else other than this weird guy, felt uneasy and a bit worried.
Realising that he has not shown his face yet, pia tried to catch a glimpse of his face but the darkness deceived her!
The guy after a moments silence spoke, 'offcourse you aren't! The fact that you are here, amidst this secluded place alone with no one except me further clarifies it! ' 'you know, few years back i was there, standing exactly at the same place where you are now, and that was a stormy night as well! And here where i am standing now, was someone else, someone who thought/believed death was pleasing, and was as mysterious as i am now,to you! And though i still don't know wether it was good or bad but it certainly changed my life forever'. A sudden queer sensation of unknown fear passed over her-a faintness and a shiver down the back but Pia for the first time was curious now and asked, 'but why are you telling me all this?'
but even before she could complete her words, at once, the guy turned his head a little and though it was dark but the contours of his perfect features, convinced pia that he was handsome and young. While she was busy observing, the guy spoke with a voice that sounded distant now.. 'because though both of you are different in nature, nothing similar,.. except ...' pia held her breath in anticipation'Suddenly confident that tonight her world was at last going to change...!
Abhay's POV
It feels strange yet familiar standing here on a rainy night under the same bridge where I stood years before, 5years! Yes it had been 5 long years since that fateful night, that had changed the entire course of my life. For better or for worse I am yet to figure that out. Back then I was nothing more than a rebelling youth who had walked out on his parents in arrogance just to live his dreams. My parents had always mocked at me for wanting to make it big in the fashion world. I was an aspiring fashion photographer whose world revolved around the second hand SLR camera that I had bought from my savings. Forsaking everything that had once been mine to claim, I came to Mumbai and it was then that I came face to face with the harsh reality called life. After numerous struggles and hardships I faced in the city of dreams, I realized my parents had been right after all. Maybe I should've heeded their advice and gotten myself a job that would have secured me financially, rather than chase after my dreams. I came to Dehradun in the hope of starting afresh but my poor grades were of no help. I had already changed my job 5 times in the span of 7 months and then I thought, well maybe it was high time that I should give up on my ego and head back home.
But then one rainy night changed everything. Maybe there could be a miniscule chance of my dreams taking the form of reality after all and that night was proof enough for that.
Now here I stand at the same place under the very same bridge and I once again find myself staring into a face that changed my destiny. But I can say at first glance that this is not her. It can never be! And nothing ceases to surprise me anymore. Piyali would always be an enigma, a conundrum that I could never decipher. This doppelganger is nothing but a mere weak shadow of hers. I could only laugh at the irony of it all. Where Piyali was anything but ordinary, everything about this mortal screamed out loud mundane.
"hey I am in no mood to play puzzles and believe me I am least interested in hearing meaningless jabberingof some random stranger adding to my woes," she said in a nonchalant tone rolling her eyes. I could say she was only pretending to be indifferent about it, but her stance said otherwise.
"Well if you think you can scare the living daylights outta me by coming up with a cock and bull story of your encounter with a ghost then let me tell you it's a cliche", she said in a bored voice. She was putting her wet notebooks back into her sling bag.
"I was destined to meet her here 5 years ago and looks like your destiny has brought you here. Else what would a girl like you be doing here? You certainly seem to be smart enough," I added with a tease.
"Yeah right," she scoffed. "I came here running, drenched in rain from head to toe, so that I could hear a stranger rant on about destiny and crap like that."
"Yep I was right you are nothing like her," I said in disdain thinking of Piyali.
"Hello? Like whom? Like that crazy chick of yours?" she shot back at me.
"Piya.." I began but the moment I said the very word, her eyes literally bugged out of their sockets.
"Dude are you freaky or what?"
Well I hadn't said anything remotely freaky and I was amazed as to what got her so excited.
"You know my name but how?"
I knew her name? What was she talking about?
"Your name?" I asked her confusedly.
"seriously are you dumb or are you acting, which one? Just now you said it," she replied rather irritatedly.
"Pia, that's my name!"
No it could not be! Piyali! Pia? It shook the ground beneath my feet...
