Surprise! Surprise! Yeah I know you must be wondering how I'm back already! Well, it's Sunday and I didn't have any accounting work plus I was bored so I just sat down and wrote something. I'm going to warn you right now, it's short. But it just felt right to end it there. 😊 Oh man, I'm nervous of the response I'm going to get after this chapter...I'M SCARED! Okay I'm just going to quickly copy paste the update before I chicken out!
Chapter 14
Manyata! Manyata! Manyata!
That was all that was in his head these days! Ranvijay realized as he drove his car back to the palace to meet her, hoping for her good health. He ran his hand through his hair and smiled to himself. Well, she was so beautiful. Inside and outside. Anyone could be intrigued by her. He loved her company, he loved their friendship. She was that one person who didn't judge him. The one person who always had that warm kind and caring smile for him that it had been years since he had received one from anyone.
He stopped the car at the flower stand on the edge of the road. All the flowers were nice, but which ones should he choose for her? Ranvijay finally picked out a bouquet of white roses. They were pure, just like her. And just like their relationship. She was his first real friend, Ranvijay realized. And there was nothing he wouldn't do for her. Nothing he wouldn't do to keep that friendship forever.
He sat back in his car and attached a note to the roses saying Get Well Soon. But before he could start the car and leave the shop, he heard a knock on his window. It was a little kid, at the age of six or seven. A poor hungry kid with tattered, dirty clothes and sunburned skin.
"Kuch paise doh na sahib. Itne dino se kuch nahi khaya," the kid said to Ranvijay. Ranvijay just stared at him akwardly, hoping that he would disappear, but the kid stood at his window with his hands outstretched and open in front of the window, with tears and innocence in his eyes.
Ranvijay closed his eyes. A month ago, if the same incident happened Ranvijay would shoo the boy away. Maybe even taunt him for acting and swear at him that all poor people were cheats who acted poor just for a little money. He would accuse the little boy for tattering his own clothes just for a little sympathy. He would yell at him that he was putting up a face of innocence right now but as soon as he lost guard would be the first to steal his wallet. After all, Ranvijay was rich. He was better.
Ranvijay for the first time looked in the boy's innocent eyes, and for the first time realization dawned on him. He's poor from the outside, you're poor from the inside. His stomach is hungry for food. Your soul is hungry for love.
Ranvijay didn't feel like yelling at him anymore. A tear dropped down from the little boy's eyes and down his cheek and Ranvijay made his decision.
What would Manyata have done? Ranvijay asked himself, and he got his answer.
Ranvijay got out of the car and stretched his hand out for the boy to hold onto. There on the side of the road, Ranvijay saw a stall that served tea and snacks. Ranvijay told the boy to sit down on one of the benches.
Finally Ranvijay with some money bought the little boy tea and cookies, handing them over to him.
The little boy's eyes lit up and Ranvijay saw the brightest smile that he had ever seen in his life. In that instance Ranvijay felt a wave of emotions wash over him and his soul. Hesitating at first, but eventually Ranvijay patted the boy at the back of his head and smiled back.

"Princess how are you feeling now?" Udayveer asked.
"Uday Uday PLEASE PLEASE let me get out of my bed now! I've been sleeping for half the day and I'm so dead bored right now. I don't even feel sick anymore!" Manyata started attacking Uday as soon as he entered her room.
"Princess calm down! I was just about to tell you anyways that Doctor Uncle said you're fine now and you can get up. You're still not allowed to go jump all over the place like you always do and you have to eat healthy," Udayveer explained as Manyata rolled her eyes.
"Yeah whatever..."
"By the way Princess, you're welcome," Udayveer smirked at her.
"Huh? Kiss liye?" Manyata wondered out loud.
"Kiss ke liye!" Udayveer winked.
"What!!?... Huh? When? How? Oh my god, last night you-" Manyata's mouth flew open in shock.
Udayveer couldn't control it anymore and burst out into laughter.
"Oh my God Princess, you should have seen your face!" He said in between laughs.
"Wait what? You were lying to me!?" Manyata said angrily.
"Why Princess? You're sad it didn't happen for real? You can give me one now if you'd like!" Udayveer smirked.
"Kutta kamina! Khasmanu khana! Get out of my room! I don't want to talk to you!" Manyata yelled at Udayveer.
"I'm going Princess for real," Udayveer said in a serious tone.
"Yea then go already!"
"No Princess I'm not kidding. I'm going for a week," Udayveer finally said.
"What!? You're going for real?" Manyata's face fell.
"Where?" She asked unable to hide her disappointment.
"Jaigarh. There are some legal issues to be resolved concerning some property and other complicated matters of business which I can't avoid. Plus I am Jaigarh's Yuvraaj and it's my duty to make sure that its people are living in peace and harmony. So I have to go for one week," Uday concluded.
"Oh," was all Manyata was able to say until Udayveer started teasing her and she realized how she was sounding.
"Awww Princess are you going to miss me?" Uday started saying.
"NO! I was just sad thinking that I won't have anyone to swear at for a week!" Manyata justified herself.
"Sure sure Princess," Uday said with a smile.
"Well since I'm not going to see you for a whole week, ek goodbye kiss toh banta hai!" Udayveer concluded with a mischievious smile.
"Udayveer you-" but before Manyata could finish he sentence Udayveer gave Manyata a kiss on her cheek and walked away leaving Manyata shocked.
Just at the door before leaving though, he turned around with a smirk.
"How much do you wanna bet that I'm going to have the real deal as soon as I'm back?" Udayveer winked at a shocked Manyata then finally disappeared around the corner.
After making sure that he left Manyata touched the part of her face that Uday's lips had touched and couldn't stop herself from smiling shyly to herself.
"I saw that!" Udayveer's voice surprised Manyata and she saw him leaning at her door with his eyebrows raised at her and that stupid smirk!
"Halkat veda!" Manyata said angrily and grabbed a cushion from her bed and threw it at him, but he was quick to dodge it and disappear from there.
"Bye Princess! Don't miss me too much!' She heard his voice shout from the hallway and finally calmed down when he left.
Her brain finally grasped her situation. Wait what? A week without Udayveer!?
The horror was evident on her face.

"Komal Aunty, where's Manyata?" Ranvijay finally asked after they were done their small talk.
"She's in her room Ranvijay beta. And don't worry, she is much better form yesterday," Komal smiled.
Ranvijay walked down the hallway to Manyata's room with his bundle of roses excited to see his best friend. However, the sight that he saw made him freeze right there.
He saw Udayveer bend over and kiss Manyata on the cheek. He witnessed her shy smile afterwards and the same smile on Uday's face who seemed so elated by it that he barely noticed Ranvijay standing against the wall and walked right past him.
Yes he knew that Manyata and Udayveer had been engaged in their childhood. He also knew that there was a chance that they might even...love eachother. Udayveer's world revolved around Manyata. He had noticed the change. He had noticed Udayveer going from the most eligible bachelor and playboy to a man who was faithful to only one. Manyata...as much as she wanted to ignore the fact, Uday had a significant impact on her life. Her anger, her sadness, her happiness - it was always linked to him. Him not me!
Yes he knew all that but he never realized the full impact of this until he witnessed it. Secretly his heart had hoped that there was nothing serious between the two of them. Secretly he thought that even if there was, it didn't make a difference to him. Why should it?
Why is this making a difference to me Goddammit! Hot boiling anger started to seethe through Ranvijay's veins and he threw the roses away in anger, the previous happiness adn excitement evaporated and in its place remained undying anger ... and undying love.
Ranvijay smashed his hand on the wall. Why did he have to fall in love with her! Why!?
Ranvijay turned around to leave unable to bear anymore torture.
Manyata heard the noise of Ranvijay smashing his hand on the wall and looked at her door surprised.
"Kaun?" She asked. She walked to the door and saw the unmistakable retreating figure of Ranvijay.
"Ranvijay!" She called out, but he didn't hear her. Or maybe he ignored her.
Manyata's eyes finally fell on the white roses. She bent down on her knees and took one of them in her hand.
"Ouch." She let out as a thorn pricked her and a drop of blood escaped her index finger. She looked at the blood and for the first time felt the warning of a brewing storm.

Ranvijay drowned himself in alcohol. It had been so many days since he had drank this much.
Ha! And you thought I could actually turn a new leaf, Manyata!? It was always you, just you that could be the cause of any change in me. But if you don't love me than what for!? What for!? Ranvijay smashed a bottle into the counter in anger.
This isn't fair. God, this isn't fair! Why me!? Why me!?
Ranvijay controlled the tears that were starting to form in his eyes by pressing his hard down on the broken pieces of glass. The physical pain gave him relief, gave him solace from the pain in his heart.
He let go of the bottle and finally collapsed to the floor. His cheek pressed to the cold floor, Ranvijay mourned his mother.
"I miss you Mom. I miss you. Why did you have to go? Why did you have to leave me alone? Please come back...please come back," were the last words out of Ranvijay's mouth before he lost his consciousness.

I know it's depressing and some of you are probably ready to kill me for hurting your poor Ranvijay and others because you're scared that he's going to come in between ManVeer. But guys no pain no gain! Still, I'm sorry if this update has saddened you and I promise to update soon again! 😃 Does that make you any happier? No? 😕
