When the jeweler was showing all the flashy expensive necklaces, Khushi astutely avoided seeing them and declined to try out any of them.
This goes to show what sort of girl Khushi is in real life. The trappings of the world do not attract her. She very well knows her social and economic standing and is quite content with her position. She will not aspire for things which are beyond her reach and would avoid getting tempted. Indeed, she is very far from being the gold digger that Arnav loves to accuse her of to cover his own feelings for her.
Despite herself, her eyes falls on one piece of jewelery and she couldn't help feeling attracted to it. The jeweler notices her interest in it and asks her to try it on but she declines and leaves the place. Arnav observes the interaction from the corner of his eye and hastens to buy the piece that catches Khushi's attention.
Although Khushi generally kept to herself, she couldn't help feeling attracted to Arnav. She, however, does not act on that attraction. Arnav knows that she is attracted to him and latches on to it.
Arnav approaches Khushi with the necklace and gives her the impression that he bought it for her. Khushi is left confused as she struggles for words. Her doubts get confirmed when he asks her to hold the jewel case while he removes the necklace and shows it to her.
Arnav keeps giving her signs that he cares for her. His holding on to her payal for so long and the near kiss in the pool side seemed to indicate to her that he had developed feelings for her too but she wanted a confirmation of it.
Arnav calls out to La and proceeds to put the necklace around her neck and lets her hug him in return. Khushi is pained by his action.
After leading Khushi on, Arnav backs out in the last minute and announces his intention to marry La leaving Khushi confused and upset.
Lets see how long they keep up the charades. I would like to see Arnav break down before Khushi does.
