They deleted my Joi Aai Asom: Debojit
NET News Network, Guwahati, Jan 28: He has evoked frenzy like never before cutting across caste, creed and religious lines uniting Assam and northeast to fight for a common cause- to make him the Voice of India.
" Moi sodai Asom aru uttar purvanchalar raijor rini hoi thakim" (I'll always remain indebted to the people of Assam and northeast) said an emotional Debojit Saha in chaste Assamese. His flawless Assamese took this
correspondent by surprise breaking the general misconception that the emerging star from Silchar cannot converse in Assamese.
However, Debojit who is in verge of creating history by winning the immensely popular musical reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in Zee TV rued that he is little disappointed after Director edited his Joi Aai Asom (Hail mother Assam) part from his final appeal to the people of Assam to vote for him, " In fact, the anchor of the show Shaan also joined me in my Joi Aai Asom appeal".
When asked about his pla
n if he succeeds in creating history, prompt comes the reply, " I'm dying to visit my motherland Assam, visit religious places and pay respect to my seniors," adding, " I would like to thank all those organizations including All Assam Students Union (AASU) who has stood beside me in my struggle. Whatever I have achieved it is just because of people of northeast".
The flamboyant lad from Assam who bowled over showman Subhas Ghai with his rendition of rocking number from Hindi film Sathiyaa which subsequently bought him a 10 from his rival mentor Himesh Reshamiyaa in the mentometer pines to wear a Gamocha (Traditional Assamese wear) in the next show, " Our dresses are designed by fashion designer who does not allow anything else to be wore during the show. However, I'm trying to wear a Gamocha in my next show" informed Debojit.
Meanwhile, Debojit mania has engulfed the region with corporate houses putting up billboards and print advertisement motivating people to vote for Debojit and make northeast proud. Regular rallies are organized in different parts of the region with youngsters in bikes and four wheelers appealing to vote for their new hero.

This article states that how Debujit is winning based on REGIONAL BIASED VOTES and not based on TALENT.

It's really bad because of this well talented are out of the competition and NE people just want to make a point by voting Debu. Just for the sake he is from Assam.

Shame on you guys.

This all DESPARATE. In other states you wont such desperation.

actually it is a big shame that a deserving candidate like Nihira is out. But Debojit alone cannot be blamed for this. There is regional based voting all over for all the contestants - Vineet, Hema and Himani. In my opinion none of them come even remotely close to Nihira's calibre. But after Nihira my vote goes now to Debojit because he has a a really good voice, and is a cool and simple guy. After the walkout I have no penchant left for any of the other candidates.

Well, why shouldn't they support their candidate? He is a good candidate,
a good singer with a good voice. Obviously good training. /he beat Vinit
in Famme 2005 and has sung for Chokher Bali.

I believe that Debo got more votes from all over India than his fellow
candidates. But regardless, if he inspires people to vote for him then so
be it!

It is really disturbing to me that some people are suddenly upset that the
NE is supporting a particular canditate. When the Hindi speaking regions
dispropotionately vote for Vineet and there is a Punjabi song round
favoring Himani nobody seemed to mind.

There seems to be some idea that people from Assam and NE are blindly
supporting Debo. The truth is that if they are motivated to vote then he
must be doing something right. You may not prefer him and that is ok. I
cannot stand Vineet but I don't assume that all of the UP, etc.. places
voting for him are voting out of regionalsm.

I wrote a separate not somewhere about why people from Assam and hte
NE may favor Debo's voice or singing style.

First there was a disturbing movement to insult Chandu for being from
the South. Now there is such a movement against Debo because of his
support from the NE. It is evident in HR's despicable regional comments
in past episodes vis a via Hemu and Debo and now with AS's rantings
about Assam ki voice.

If you thought that Debo moving forward was unfair then the better
argument was that ID's drama walkout inspired mroe support. If you
think that he is not as good of a singer, then let's debate hte technical
points. If tomorrow Vineet gets more support from North India while
Hema gets less from the South, can we scream regionalism then? The
ugly truth is that there is some insidious prejudice that the opinion of
those NE states is less valid than that of other states. Let me remind you
that one of those states-- Tripura produced SDB and RDB.

I am sure that if Debo is eliminated in this round (I hope not) then these
same tactics will be used in Chandu. No wonder these NE people are so
passionate about supporting their candidate. Looks like there is some
built in prejudice against him or anyone not from a Hindi or Punjabi
speaking state afterall.

thanks mdroy ji for a very well written post...
By the way, do we have any statistics for Vinit's votes from the "North India" belt (J&K, HP, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttaranchal, UP)?

And to add...
"he is little disappointed after Director edited his Joi Aai Asom (Hail mother Assam) part from his final appeal to the people of Assam to vote for him"

After all these months of being ignored and belittled, Debu should have known better what to expect...

Debojit doesn't have any future in singing. But looking at his popularity in NE , He has big potential political career. I think he would do it excellent there, as he know very well how to exploit emotional and sympathies of common people. I am sure all the politician must be feeling threat from you.

Debojit , in singing you can do much may be just 3-4 albums. But if you become politician you can change lives, isn't that what you said you would do for old age people.

You are not good in singing but you are good in collecting votes.

Politics has bright future for you so o for it as the IRON IS HOT.

why are you getting REGIONAL BIASED. First let me tell how Debu got his votes.

I think I have to do this for you again:

Total votes Came In: 70 Lakhs

Debojit got 40% of 70 Lakhs i.e 28 lakhs over all.

Out of 28 Lakhs 80% from NE i.e 22.4 lakhs from NE Alone.

Vinit got 22% out 70 lakhs i.e 15.4 lakhs.

In all the episoded his getting above 75% from NE only.

What I am saying is Debu is weak and still he is getting just based on Regional biased votes. I am not saying its wrong within the rules of the competition.

But definately it has ruin the competition, if this happens people will vote on basis of religion/region/caste etc. This is bad. It will make precedent.

That's all my friend.

DEBOJIT IS NOT WORTH IN COMING EVEN IN TOP 10 , PERIOD.

Also even Debojit has told on show that there are people who are doing SMS of Rs 2000. What does that means. It means One single person is trying to vote as many times for Debojit. Isn't this BIASED, REGIONALISED. Have they voted even once for Nihira. I didn't hear from Shaan that Nihira received any % from NE. Can you explain why ? Wasn't Nihira. I am not biased to her, I have heard her and I think she was the best. She will definately have bright future ahead. But what happened because of Regionalised voting is one talented person got thrown out. The system itself is WRONG.
Which is what we are against of anyone who does that. I don't like HR's strategy of Vinit either. It's so cheap.
this is singing competiton best on talent. Debojit should not get votes from emotional or he is from NE and considering person from NE region has never reached at such stage. Does that take away the abilities and talent of other person.
Be reasonable rise above territories, go beyond religion, countries. Think as Rational i.e human. Throw away this "Regional Biased" cap you are wearing and then appreciate people who are talented. See how much better you will feel and how beautiful the world will be.

the "Regionalized Biased Voting" has stretched so much, that we are loosing talented people. Debo is good singer but I don't think he even deserved in top 10. That's my opinion I may be wrong. I think the lady meant being "This is India's Voce because" the other person said this is "Assam's Voice". She meant that the show is of whole India not only of Assam. Off course there can be many interpretations and she only knows what she said and we people can SPIN her statement as we want. But again this is not the point we want to concentrate.

If we don't voice (crying as you termed it) the system will not improve. Through this discussions we know what other people think, we get an idea. I have not heard/read single person here that Nihira was bad. I also think Himani is better then Debo. Vinit, he sings well. But I don't like HR's sentimental begging.
I am not against of Debo or anybody, I just like to see talented people getting success. If talented people are not selected and other people get selected based on Regionalism and Emotional basis, it will not put a good precedent. What will happen is in the next challenge the contestants will use those biased things to win. Thus they will not concentrate on talent or talented people would not participate, as they know they can't win. So look how the system is going to form. That's why we have to raise the voice. It's better to be Late then never Right?
I am not saying you are stupid, I will never say like that, I can understand what you are saying.

I think its completely wrong about HEMA asking vote on MAAA KA SAPNAA and his relatives spending lakhs on SMS. Nihira ,Hemani & Sharib should have been in the finals. And you are right about Paresh too. I liked him, I appreciate what tremendous efforts he has taken. We want these kind of people in the competition and not CRY BABIES.

I don't like this "Reservation" system at all. In professional life everything should based on Talent , Honesty and hard work.Sentiments or Emotional factors should not be considered.
